Uttarakhand itself is so diverse with regard to marriage customs. Not only there is difference between Garhwal and Kumaon, there is infact quite a diffrence within Kumaon and within Garhwal also.
 
What might be interesting though will be the ways people follow these customs these days when a Garhwali marry to a kumaoni girl or vice versa and in fact grooms and girl from Nainital and Pithoragarh.

Generally, almost the common practices are followed in both Kumoan and Garwal Region of Uttarakhand. However, there are changes in the marriage system of other tribes living in Uttarakhand like Bhotiya, Juanisari area etc.

I visited your website containing information about Katar Mal Temple. It was quite informative. Thanks for enlightening the readers about this unique temple.
While going through the write-up, I had a few doubts though. At one place you have written that the idol of Sun is seated in Padma-asan and is more than one meter in height, whereas in another place you write that the Sun idol is in standing posture and wears gum boot. Could you please clarify on this.
