            वैदिक आर्यों के लिए गाय -बैल प्रधान सम्पति मानी जाती थी।  भेड़ -बकरी व घोड़े भी पाले जाते थे।
गायों को सुबह , दोपहर व संध्या समय दुहा  जाता था। गोपाल गाय -बच्छियों के देखरेख हेतु जानवरों के संग चलते थे।  गायों आदि की पहचान हेतु कान चिन्हित (branding ) किये जाते थे।  रात्रि समय दूध देने वाली गायें मकान में रखी जाती थीं बाकी जानवर गोठ /गोष्ठ में रखे जाते थे।
पशु धन वृद्धि हेतु कर्मकांड /प्रार्थना की जाती थी। वैदिक साहित्य में अप्सराओं की तुलना गायों से की गयी है।
दूध , घी , दही की प्रचुरता थी।
पूजा ,  दही , घी का प्रयोग संभव था।  शायद बैलों को बधिया करने की परम्परा भी  चल पड़ी थी।

Prithvi Narayan Shah Capturing Makwanpur and defeating Mir Kasim

               Makwanpur commanded the Sothern rout to Kathmandu. Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah decided to conquer the territory. The father in law of Prtithvi Narayn was no more alive and his brother in law was ruling Makwanpur. Due to overpowering of Prithvi Narayan, Makwanpur King had treaty with Jay Prakash Mall. Knowing the alliance between jay Prakash Mall and Makwanpur King, Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah sent his army led by Kahar Singh Basnyat, Bansraj Pande  and Ramkrishna Kunwar to capture Makwanpur Kingdom. On 21st August 1762, Gorkha army defeated Makwanpur army within ten hours of fight. 100 Gorkhali and 400 Makwanpur soldiers were killed on that war.
 After capturing Makwanpur Kingdom, Gorkha army attacked and invaded Hariharpur, Timalkot and Sindhulikot.
 Gorkha army caught Makwanpur King Digbandan Sen on 13th February, 1763.
  Gorkha killed relatives of King by Khukri and hung many other relatives of Makwanpur King. Brother of King fled and tok asylum under East India company.
 Jay Prakash Mall took help from East India Company. Company sent troop to defeat Prithvi Narayan Shah but 120 Gorkha soldiers defeated East India army of 200 soldiers led by General Kinloch in 1767.
 Prithvi Narayn Shah had economic blockade period in the valley. Prithvi Narayan Shah cut the supply to the valley. Prithvi Narayan Shah used to provide death penalty to those who used to supply salt and cotton to valley. 
                       Defeat of Mir Kasim
 Afraid of Prithvi Narayan Shah, Kanak Singh the King of neighboring territory sent request to Mir Kasim the Nabab of Bengal. Mir Kasim sent army and guns led by army chief Gurgin Khan to help Kanak Singh. Gurgin Khan attacked on Makwanpur. However, Gorkha soldiers defeated Mir Kasim army and killed Kasim force brutally.

 मीन भौत जात्रा करीं छन , सरा भारतौ भ्रमण कर्यूं च अर अपण ससुराल ढौंढ एक दैं दिखणै इच्छा त छैंइ च। अंग्रेजी मा आधुनिक गढ़वाली साहित्य अर लोक साहित्य पर हजारों लेख , उत्तराखंडौ इतिहास पर अंग्रेजी मा पांच सौ से अधिक  लेख अर गढ़वळि मा द्वी हजार से अधिक  चबोड़्या लेख पढ़ण से लाखों  पाठकुं तैं गलतफहमी रौंदि  कि म्यार सरा उत्तराखंड घुम्युं च।  अर मी तैं अपण पाठ्कुं समझ पर घमंड च।
             पर असलियत अर छवि मा अंतर च।  म्यार दगड्या हेमा उनियाल , पूरण पंत पथिक , मदन डुकलाण, बी मोहन  नेगी, संदीप  रावत आदिन मेसे ज्यादा उत्तराखंड घुम्युं च पर पाठक समजदन कि यूंन ले क्या गढ़वाळ देखि ह्वाल जु भीष्मन देखि ह्वाल।  संदीप रावतन घूमिक गढ़वाली भाषा इतिहास ल्याख , डा हेमा उनियालन उत्तराखंड जाण अर मीन यूंक किताब पढ़िक अपण पाठक लोगुं तैं उत्तराखंडौ बारा मा बथाइ।
               खैर उन त बुले जांद बल अपण घरवळि से अपण प्रेमिकाओं बारा मा नि बताण चयेंद अर अपण पाठकों से भेद नि बताण चयेंद कि मीन कनकै ल्याख पर आज मूड च कि मि आप तैं बतौँ  कि मीन उत्तराखंड मा क्या क्या नि द्याख।
           सबसे पैल मि दुबर बथै द्यूं कि म्यार स्यूंसी -बैजरों नी दिख्युं ,  ढौंडियाल्स्युं मा अपण ससुराल ढौंड बि नी दिख्युं च अर मेरी घरवळिन बि ढौंढ नी दिख्युं च।  अर मि  बड़ो  घमंड से सब तैं बथांद बि छौं  कि म्यार  अपण ससुराल नी दिख्युं ।
            हम तैं छुट इ बिटेन बताये गए छौ कि दिल्ली अर मुंबई मा नौकरी सरलता से मिलदी तो  हमेशा मि पश्चिम मुखी रौं अर मीन कुमाऊं का क्वी हिस्सा नि द्याख तो समझी ल्यावो कि मीन नैनीताल का दर्शन नि कर्याँ छन।  अर नैनीताल वळु तैं मलाल बि नी च कि भीष्म कुकरेतीन अबि तक नैनीताल नि द्याख।  उनि जिम कॉर्बेट पार्क का शेर अर चखुलों तैं मि तैं दिखणै अभिलाषा छैं इ नी च त किलै मि जिम कॉर्बेट पार्क जौं भै !
 अब आपन पुछण कि जब मि जिम कॉर्बेट पार्क नि ग्यों तो राजा जी नेसनल पार्क किलै ग्यों ?  भै मि राजा जी नेसनल पार्क दिखणो नि ग्यों।  उ त ऋषिकेश या स्वर्गाश्रम से अपण गां जाण हो या कोटद्वार से हरिद्वार आण हो तो बीच मा राजा जी नेसनल पार्क का बोर्ड लग्याँ ह्वावन तो इखमा मेरी क्या गलती ? हैं ? अब यदि हरिद्वार से ऋषिकेश का बीच मा रायवाला या श्यामपुर ऐ जांदन त आँख थुड़ा बुजे जांदन।  दिखणि पोड़दन।
   चूँकि मि तैं नौकरी जरूरत छे तो मि युवावस्था मा श्रीनगर ग्यों , निथर सन 1815 से हम सलाण्यूंन श्रीनगर से नाता तोड़ि दे छौ।
           टिहरी मा , उत्तरकाशी मा , गोपेश्वर मा नौकरी मिलदी नि छे त मि केदारनाथ , गंगोत्री -जमनोत्री बि नि ग्यों।
                   टिहरी दिखणो बिगरौ त छौ पर दिखणौ मौक़ा नि मील।  इलै मीन डूबती टिहरी  पीड़ा पर एक बि लेख नि ल्याख। उन बि मि छुट छुट बांधों समर्थक छौं त में से टिहरी डुबण पर उथगा दुःख नि ह्वे जथगा दुःख यांपर ह्वे कि म्यार रिस्तेदारुं जौंक एक झुपड़ा बि नि छौ , उख किराए मा रौंद छा उंन  चर चर दैं पुनर्निवास का पैसा खैन अर अबि बि देहरादून का घंटाघर मा हड़ताल करदन कि पुनर्वास मा धांधली चल।
             मि पौड़ी जयूँ छौ अर दूर से मीन निसुड़ी गां बि द्याख पर खिर्सू वाळु क पिपोड़ द्याखो त सै कि खिर्सू वाळु तैं दुःख बि नी च कि मीन खिर्सू नि द्याख।  युवावस्था मा मीन सतपुळी का माछा  खयाँ छया किंतु अब सतपुली का माछों मा या उड़द की दाळ मा वु सवाद नि रै गे जु सवाद सन 1972 मा छौ।  सैत च सिगरेट पीण से जीबौ सवाद बदल गए होलु।  अब उन त स्वर्गाश्रम का चोटीवाला होटलम बि वु सवादी भोजन कख मिल्दु ? अर व्यासिम बि अब उन अलु का गुटका अर परांठा कख मिल्दन !
            मीन नरेंद्र नगर बि नी दिख्युं च त प्रताप नगर बि नी दिख्युं च। अर म्यार टिहरी वाळ दोस्तुं तैं आश्चर्य बि नि हूंद कि मीन नरेंद्र नगर अर प्रताप नगर नि द्याख। टिहरी का रिस्तेदारुं बुलण च बल जै मनिखौन अपण तहसील लैंसडाउन नि देखि हो वैन नरेंद्र नगर या प्रतापनगर क्या दिखण थौ।
 बात बि सै च।  हमर इलाका मा हमर जवानी का टैम पर लैंसडाउन जाणो मौक़ा तीन तरह से मिल्दो छौ।  यदि दसक इमतान दीणो जहरीखाल जाण , यदि फ़ौज मा भर्ती हूण या  पेन्सन लाण।  मीन दसक इमतान देहरादून माँ दे अर हमर बूड़ खूड अंग्रेजुं गुलामी से चिढ़दा छा तो पेन्सन लीणो सवाल इ पैदा नी ह्वे अर गांवक सबि बल्दुंन बोलि याल छौ बल जैसे ज्यु नि उठयांदु वु क्या फ़ौज मा भर्ती ह्वालु।  अब तिसर बातौ बान बि लैंसडाउन जाए जांद छौ।  यदि तुम तैं मुकदमा बाजीक व्यसन हो या दूसरों वाड सरकाण मा मजा आंद हो तो काळो डांडा याने लैंसडाउन जाण पड़द छौ।  उन जब मि अपण पट्टी की पटवारी चौकी गटक्वट - घणसाळी  नि ग्यों तो म्यार  लैंसडाउन माँ क्या काम हूण थौ जु मि लैन्सडौनौ जड्डू खौं ! 
 हाँ बद्रीनाथ मि जयूँ छौं अर तब पता चौल कि शंकराचारजी महान इ ना जिगरबाज बि छा।
   उन एक सीक्रेट हैंक बि च।  हमर गांमा पल्तिर एक पाणि इन च बल जु सबसे ठण्डु , स्यळण , बरमस्या पाणि च अर   म्यार वु पाणि   बि नी दिख्यु च। खैर जब दिखणो की इ बात ऐ गे तो मीन वु पुंगड़ बि नि दिख्यां छन जौं पुंगड़ों मा हमर बूड ददा जी क बुबाजी जौ बूंदा छा।

Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah Winning Kirtipur and Defeating East India Company

                          Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah Winning Kirtipur
          Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah captured Dhulikhet, Chaukot, Panauti, Khangyur and Benapa. Afraid from Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah, collectively the Kings of Lumjung and Chaubisi attacked on Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah in 1763. However Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah defeated them and they ran away from battlefield.  In 1761, Sur Pratap the brother of Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah attacked on Kirtipur. This was second attack of Gorkha on Kirtipur.
 Kirtipur army fought bravely and defeated Gorkha Army. Kirtipur soldier threw an arrow on Sur Pratap Shah and he lost his eye. Gorkha army returned back.
          Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah was in rage. He surrounded Kirtipur from all side and stopped food and other supply for Kirtipur.  Army of Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah entered into Kirtipur fort. The Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah army assured the Kirtipur people to surrender and there won’t be any harm to them. People surrendered before Gorkha army.
 However, cruel Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah sent message to his brother Surupratna to cut the nose and lips of all people barring children. Gorkha army cut the nose and lips of people with force. He also ordered that cut nose and lips should be preserved that he would see those in his visit to Kirtipur.
 Gorkha army cut nose and lips of Kirtipur people. Many people did suicide as they could not bear the shame of nose-lessness and lip-lessness.
  Christian Missionary Father Michel requested to stop the inhuman deeds but Gorkha army was bent to cut nose and lips of people. It was said that the weight of cut nose and lips was 17 Dharni or 40.61 Kilograms.
           
           Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah defeating east India Army
     After winning Nuvakot and Makwanpur, Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah blocked the channel of trade of East India Company with Nepal region and Tibet. Nepal region used to export rice (two lakh Man per year (one Man =40 Kg app)) , Grains, Ghee, oil seeds, leather, spices, copper, live stock  and other materials. Indian goods as cotton and cotton dresses, suger, salt were exported to Nepal.
 Indian traders and East India Company’s agents had stocking stores and houses in Nepal.
 East India Company was interested to export goods from India to China and Tibet via Nepal.
 Due to economic blockade by Prithvi Narayan Shah, Bhadgaon, Patan and Kathmandu experienced economic depression.
 Kathmandu King Jay Prakash Mall was aware about Hills Kingdoms were not capable to help him, So, Mall  sent his emissary to East India Company for help against Prithvi Narayan Shah in April 1767.
       Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah was keeping watch on Jay Prakash Mall. Prakash Narayan Shah sent a letter to east India Company. Jay Prakash Mall was ready to pay for the expenses of East India Company army. East India Company got Baksar under them in 1764. Gorkha army used to attack on Baksar and loot there.
 On 30th April 1767, Company sent a warning letter to Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah to lift the economic blockade on Kathmandu. Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah did not care for East India Company.
 Under the leadership of Captain Kinloch, East India Company sent army of 2800 soldiers to Nepal without judging the hill situation.  Kinloch reached to Sindhuligadhi via Janakpuri. Kinloch marched ahead and his troop faced the problem of food supply on the way to Kathmandu. The soldiers had to live without proper food. In the mean time, rain season started. Many soldiers ran away. There was flood in the way. The Bridge of Bagmati River fled. The loaders also ran away from the troop. Kinloch started to return back to Baksar. Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah army followed the East India Company Army till Tarai. Gorkha army killed East India Company soldiers. Out of 2800 soldiers, only 800 soldiers could return to Baksar.
