There were many pilgrim roads in Garhwal.
Haridwar to Shrinagar was a major Pilgrim Highway. There was road from Devprayag to Gangotri and Yamunotri. It was belief that it was the best to visit Badrinath after visits to Yamunotri, Gangotri and Kedarnath. However, the condition of roads was such bad that very few pilgrims could do so. Yamunotri road was the most difficult one. On Gangotri road, there was a Jhula /rope way bridge on Jadganga River at Bhaironghati. That bridge was in bad situation that people seldom used it. Due to ignoring Highway repairs by Gurkha administration, there was decline in Gangotri visits by pilgrims.
Haridwar –Shrinagar Highway was also a commercial highway. Hastidal Chautariya once ordered to repair the highway. Domestic animals were used for transpiration on Haridwar- Shrinagar Highway but beyond Shrinagar, it was difficult for animals to walk on those roads to Kedarnath or Badrinath.
There was a road from Joshimath to Neeti valley but that was also in bad condition. The Joshimath to Neeti Valley road was important for connection Tibet too. That road was used for Kailas Mansarovar Pilgrimage.
Though those roads were also important for defense point of view, Gurkha never paid attention for maintain those road.

राजा राष्ट्रीय जलोक
232 BC में अशोक की मृत्यु के पश्चात कश्मीर में अशोक पुत्र राष्ट्रीय जलोक ने स्वतंत्रता घोष्ट कर दी। जलोक अपने पिता के साम्राज्य जीतता हुआ कान्यकुब्ज तक पंहुच गया। जलोक का अधिकार , पश्चिम पंचनद , मध्यदेश और पंचाल पर अधिकार हो गया।
इससे इतिहासकार [डबराल ] अनुमान लगाते हैं कि कुलिंद जनपद व भारद्वाज जनपद के सामंत या शासक ने जलोक के अधिकार को या तो स्वीकार कर लिया होगा या मैत्री कर ली होगी। कुरु व पांचाल के जलोक के अधीन होने का अर्थ है कि बिजनौर , हरिद्वार व सहारनपुर के सामंत जलोक के अधीन हो गए होंगे।
नरेंद्र सहगल के अनुसार जलोक शिव पूजक था। जलोक एक बहादुर व कुशल शासक था व उसने विदेशी आक्रान्ताओं को कश्मीर से दूर रखने में भूमिका निभाई।

संस्थानों मा रोजगार प्रार्थना पत्र बणान पर मैनेजर दसियों दिन अर दसियों मीटिंग करदा छा। केवल इम्प्लॉयमेंट एप्लीकेसन फॉर्म बणानो बाण पोस्ट रिटायरमेंट स्कीम का तहत भौत सी कम्पनी भूतपूर्व पर्सनल मैनेजरों तै सलाहकार बि बणै दींदी छे।
चार पेज से तौळ एप्लीकेसन फॉर्म हूण याने छुटि कम्पनी। भारी भरकम एप्लीकेसन फॉर्म प्रार्थी का बारा मा समुचित ब्यौरा मागणो बान तयार नि करे जांद छौ अपितु मैनेजरों की आत्मसंतुष्टि , मैनेजरों की अहमतुष्टि या कम्पनी तै बड़ी कम्पनी साबित करणो बान बणये जांद छौ।
फिर भौत सा कंपन्यूं एप्लीकेसन इन बि हूंद छा जन कि प्रार्थी अवश्य ही जनमजात मुलजिम हो अर वैन अवश्य ही जुर्म करिक भगण च।
काम का हिसाब से एप्लीकेसन फॉर्म मा सूचना नि मांगे जांद छे अपितु एक गुठ्यार मा गोर बछर, भैंस , बकरी अर खरगोस पालणै कोशिस हूंद छे। प्रोडक्सन का कार्मिक से ज्वा सूचना चयेंद वा सेल्स मैनेजर से नि चएंदी पर द्वी कामुं कुण एक इ प्रकार से सूचना मंगाए जांद छे तो अमूनन एक प्रार्थी तै कम्पनीक एप्लीकेसन फॉर्म भरण इ मा अदा दिन लग जांद छौ अर इन ह्वेइ नि सकद कि फॉर्म फिर बि सही भरे जाव। अब द्याखो ना एप्लीकेसन फॉर्म मा एक क्लर्क से वैक ददा कु कार्य पूछे जाव तो वीं सूचना को क्या तातपर्य ?
इंटरव्यू लींद दै इन्टरव्यूवर प्रार्थी की सबसे अधिक मजाक एप्लीकेसन फॉर्म मा भरीं गलत्यूं उडांद छा।
मी तै एक दै सिंगर इण्डिया मा इंटरव्यू दीणो मौक़ा मील। उखमा परिवार का बारामा सवाल पूछे गे छौ -फादर /स्टेप फादर ; मदर /स्टेप मदर ; ग्रैंड मदर /स्टेप ग्रैंड मदर आदि आदि।
सबसे बेतुका सवाल मि तै लग छौ - इज युवर फादर मैरीड /इज युवर मदर मैरीड ? तब सन 1977 का करीब भारत मा तलाक सामन्य बात नि ह्वे छे , लिविंग विद कम्पेनियन विचार शायद फिल्मों तक सीमित छौ पर अमेरिकी कम्पनी छे तो अमेरिकाक हिसाब से एप्लीकेसन फॉर्म बण्यू छौ।
अधिकतर एप्लीकेसन फौर्मुं मा काम की सूचना तिसर पेज से शुरू हूंदन अर पैल द्वी पेज की सूचना कभी भी इंटरव्यू लीण वळ नि पढ़द।
अधिकतर सूचना की मांग का पैथर या मनशा हूंदी छे कि यदि भोळ कर्मिक भाग गे तो वै तै कनकैक पकड़े जावो !

Kathmandu was connected to Almora via a bridge on Kali River near Brahmdev Mandi. Kathmandu- Almora road was sued by soldiers. Later on the said road was connected to Shrinagar and Dehra or Gurudwara (Dehradun). Gurkha used people without paying wages them for making Dehra Highway. There were milestones erected on this road.
The road was upto Khalanga (Nalapani) where there was Gadhi /Fort of Gurkha battalion. From Khalanga the road was for Himachal by crossing Yamuna River. Kalsi was in between Himachal and Dehradun road. Gurkha soldiers used to go through this road from Kathmandu to Sutlej River in Himachal. From Kalsi the road was up to Vilaspur via Nahan.
There were many Tax Chauki and river ports on Dehradun –Himachal Road.
The road was safe for Gurkha as the road was not in the East India Company Area. Since, Gurkha used to transfer soldiers from one territory to other territory after one year.there was always movement of soldiers and the people nearby villages were always afraidof Gurkha Soldiers.

अशोक की मृत्यु होते ही पश्चमी तट प्रदेशों के समान्तों /क्षत्रपों ने स्वतंत्रता घोषित कर दी। 225 BC के करीब वाख्तरी यवननरेश युथिदिम ने वलख , बुखारा , कंधार , सीस्तान , दक्षिणी अफ़ग़ानिस्तान पर अधिकार जमा लिया।
राजतरंगणी के अनुसार मौर्य सामंत व शासक जलोक ने म्लेच्छ की सेना के एक आक्रमण को विफल कर दिया था। यह आक्रमण शायद 225 -189 BC के मध्य कभी हुया था [राहुल ]।
जलोक के बारे में अधिक सूचना नही मिलती और लगता है कि जलोक की मृत्यु पश्चात उसके वंशजों से कश्मीर व पश्चमी भाग निकल गया था। आशककलीन लिपि की पांचाल मुद्राओं से अनुमान लगाया जा सकता है।
