       The Garhwali story ‘Byau ki Rasyan’ by Mahesha Nand is about the pain for non fulfillment of desire.
         Jagtu a rich man of the region was busy in preparation for his daughter Gaura’s marriage. Jagtu wanted to make history by memorable and luxurious marriage reception in the region. However, as the groom marriage party reaches to Jagtu’s village; an unexpected incident happens that the groom had to return without bride. Many guests were also frustrated. There was vast difference between the pain of Jagtu and frustration of guests.
       Mahesha is successful in creating images of preparation for a grand marriage reception from father side, thrills and desires from guest side, groom marriage party’s enthusiasm. Mahesha Nand is superb in describing   frustrations, hopelessness, and insults of Jagtu and at the same time frustration of guest too.
 Mahesha Nand uses suitable phrases for making story interested for the readers.
         The descriptions by Mahesha Nand could superbly illustrate the pain for non fulfillment of desired target.

            Officials or Batten recorded the land for temples as Gunth, Muafi and Sadavrat. Before, batten settlement there was no proper records for such land.
 The British government handed over the temple management to local committee from temple priests that the income would be used for pilgrim’s comforts and health. In 1852, Strachi completed the Sadavrat, Gunth and Muafi land settlement.  Beckett reassed and restarted measurement in few villages those were offered for temple Sadavrat, Gunth and Muafi land.   Beckett informed to temple priests that by exact measurement of such land, the temple employees would not be able to ditch the temples. Beckett also informed the Muafidar (free land owners) for the benefits of exact land measurement. Therefore, temple priests and Muafidar were ready for measurement on their won expenses. Beckett reached each Patti for settlement but did not reach each village as Batten could reach. Beckett reached to highest point of a Patti or region and from there Beckett surveyed the land aerially. Records of Pauri Garhwal settlement (page 53) shows that Beckett reached at a hill top near Pindwalani for surveying Dudhatoli region. Beckett did not write his comments for each village.
  Dabral states (from Pauri Garhwal settlement) that it was injustice for temples. In Beckett settlement, parts of land was offered to land cultivators as land owners thus reducing land for temples.  Dabral provided an example of Kimotha village of Bichhal Nagpur region upper Garhwal (Stowel, page127).  There were two owners for Kimotha village land. Thokdar was woner for half of the village and Kedarnath temple was having Gunth right on other half. Khaykar were cultivating land owned by Kedarnath temple and they were offering tax to the temple. The officers or Beckett promted  Khaykars of Kedarnath Gunth land as owners and did not touch the land of Thokdar.

तूणी अर देवदारा
टकटका डाळो पर नि गै
घाम बरखा अर ह्यूं से निझरक
मुंड उठै खड़ा
उच्चा उच्चा डाँडौं नि गै

       यु गीत कै नोबल पुरुष्कार विजेता अमेरिकी अर्थशास्त्रीन नि रच , यु गीत कै भारतीय पद्मविभूषण  अर्थशास्त्रीन नि रच, बल्कणम  कै या कुछ गढवाळी लोक कलाकारोंन उन्नीसवीं सदी मा रच। अर यु गीत बुलणु च बल आज मनिख 90 % रुप्या 10 % काम पर खर्च करदो।

  द्याखो हाँ ! भारत हि ना , पाकिस्तान हि ना , अमेरिका मा बि लोग , विरोधी राजनीतिज्ञ अर टीवी ऐंकर  सबसे अधिक समय यी बुलणम खर्चा करदन बल भोज्य सामग्री मैंगी ह्वे गे , मैंगी ह्वे गे , सरकारी पाळु पड़ गे।  अर जरा गणत कारो त पैल्या कि   अधिकतर घौरम 10 प्रतिशत पैसा  भोजन पर खर्च हूंद अर नब्बे टका ड्रवाइंग रूम सबंधित चीजों , कार आदि पर खर्चा हूंद।  भोज्य सामग्री पर मंहगाई 6 टका का आसपास हूंद किन्तु बकै चीजुं पर हर साल मंहगाई दर 100 से 1000  टक्का  बढदी।  किन्तु ककड़ाट, भिभड़ाट ,स्यूंसाट  भोज्य सामग्री पर हूंद।   एकुणि बुल्दन -  नौ रुप्या कु मोती ढांगs  , सौ रुप्या कु सींगs !
पाणि बोतल का पाणिक  अर्थशास्त्रीय  अध्ययन तो कारो जरा।  एक अधा  पैसा का पाणी    अर साढ़े चौदा रुप्या  का पैकिंग ! एकुण बुल्दन -  नौ रुप्या कु मोती ढांगs  , सौ रुप्या कु सींगs ! .

डाक्टर बि बुल्दन बल दान्तुं सफाई मा 90 % योगदान टूथ ब्रश कु हूंद अर केवल 10 % योगदान टूथ पेस्ट कु हूंद किन्तु हम 90 % से अधिक खर्चा टूथ पेस्ट पर करदां अर 10 % से भौत कम टूथ ब्रश पर।
भोजन बणान्द दैं हमर 90 % समय  छौंकण , भुटण , खुड़कण म बर्बाद करदां अर केवल 10 %  श्रम समय पकाणम।  द्वी इंच की जीभ अर पचास इंच की  अंतड़ी किन्तु   90 %   छौंकण , भुटण , खुड़कण का समय जीब का बान अर  अर केवल 10 % समय स्वास्थ्य याने  अंतड़ी पर खर्चा करदां। यांकुणि बुले जांद  बल नौ रुप्या कु मोती ढांगs  , सौ रुप्या कु सींगs !
इनि हजारों उदाहरण छन   जु बुल्दन बल हम 90 % रुपया  10 % काम का वास्ता खरचदां। 
एक आना कि अमृतधारा का दस  बूँद अर पचास रुपया बोतल की कीमत !
आपक राय नौ रुप्या कु मोती ढांगs, सौ रुप्या कु  फ्यूँफाट ,  सौ रुप्या कु  फ्यूँफाट पर क्या च ?

            Surendra Pal- Asian Poet of Supporting Social Equality
          Critical and Chronological History of Modern Garhwali Poetry –100

                     There is no shortage of Garhwali Shilpkar poets in Garhwali language but very few could express the social injustice of touch-ability and un-touchablity of our society for more than five thousand years in India. Late Ram Prakash Arya ‘Bagchhat’ used to sing song of Dalit’s human right on the cultural programs and in the small geometers of poetry lovers. However, he could not publish his poems and even after a request to many, this author could not get the diary of Ram Praksh in which he used to write poetries of Dalit’s human right, the frustrating state of Dalits for social injustice, the poor economic conditions of Dalits due to no ownership of land among Dalits of Garhwal. Surendra Pal had been initiating Dalit consciousness in the society through his poetries. Though his poetries do not attack by abusive words on upper class directly but uses indirect way and with effective mannerism, Surendra is famous in garhwali poetic field for attacking the inhuman culture of social divides among Hindus for his life through poetries.
          Surendra pal was born on 23rd March, 1952 in a Himalayan village Gadhamonu , Khatsyun of Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Surendra expired in his early age of 48 on 28th January , 2000 AD
                After passing Intermediate, Surendra pal passed degree in Flute playing from Prayag Sangeet Samiti , Allahabad a prestigious organization in music training. Surendra Pal provided music to many concerts of Garhwali cultural programs, stage plays. Surendra was expert of playing Garhwali folk music instruments as Flute , Hudki, Mochhang. Being trained on western music, Surendra did many successful experiments in music by mixing Garhwali orthodox music with western style music.
                    Surendra pal published hundred of poems in local periodicals. Surendra pal received Pundit Aditya Ram Navani award for ‘Chungti ’ a collection of forty three Garhwali poems .
               The profound Gazal maker in Garhwali language, editor and a critic Madhusudan Thapliyal writes that Surendra Pal is the sole representative of Dalit consciousness in Garhwali language poetic field. Madhusudan Thapliyal praises the poems of Surendra pal related to color discrimination among human being, inhuman treatments to deprived class in caste system, dangers of religious divides.
        Surendra criticizes the caste systems religious divide etc , However, Surendra Pal  never leaves the optimism that one day will come when equality will be there in this world.
                             Surendra Pal used many forms and styles in creating Garhwali language poems. However, having knowledge of music , Surendra’s poems are melodious. He uses common Garhwali imagery, symbols, figure of speeches for creating easily understandable poems.

                   As American literature is proud of James Weldon Johnson, Claude McKay, Etheridge Knight, Paul Lawrence Dunbar , Langston Hughes, Z.N Hurston, Countee Cullen, Gwendolyn Brooks, Rita Dove, Jessie Redmon Fauset, Robert Hayden, Arna Bontemps, Quincy Troupe, Alice walker, Natasha Trethewey , Jupiter Hammon, Forest Hamer, Aundre Lorde , Wanda Phips, Maya Angelou, Lucile Clifton, Cornelius Eady , for their contribution in awakening African consciousness, talking about human rights, bringing the racial pain before the world, frustration of discrimination by human to human, dreaming of equal social structure , fight for the human rights and equality , finishing injustice to deprived class from the society, Garhwali literature is proud of Surendra Pal for his poems of Dalit consciousness.

        In 1816, Traill suggested that the income from Sadavrata villages (temple villages) should be used for public works as improving roads for pilgrimages. However, government did not accept Traill suggestions keeping in mind the people sentiments.
  Badrinath Temple Rawal died in 1817 and Badrinath temple committee of Kerala appointed Narayan Bhatt as Rawal or the chief priest of the temple by. There were misappropriation of temple properties by employees and there were incompetent temple workers under Narayan Bhatt temple administration. Traill took the temple administration and Sadvrata village administration under him. Traill appointed competent workers for Sadavrata village administration. There was saving from the income from Sadavrata villages. Traill used the saving for constructing roads and repairing old roads for pilgrimages.
         In 1827-1828, Traill constructed, repaired Haridwar- Badrinath road through villagers without paying them their wages (Begar System). Traill himself surveyed and planned the road works and many times, he was caught in danger for the work. It took seven years for completing the road construction and repair works.
   By 183, he completed the road construction and repairs from Rudraprayag to Kedarnath, Ukhimath to Chamoli, and from Karnaprayag to Chandpur –Lobha to Ruhelkhand. Later on,
 Traill used saved money on widening the road. 
  The successors of Trail used savings from Sadavrata income for constructing and repairing Joshimath –Neeti, Almora –Lobha and Shrinagar to Nazibabad roads.
  In 1851, British government handed over Sadavrata village management to local agencies.  Government accepted the Strauchi report and fixed the budget for food for pilgrimages, pilgrim roads repair and construction, health care etc from the Sadavrata income.

   Murli Diwan: The Poet of Rural subject illustrating with Realism, Satire and Inspiration too

         Murli Diwan illustrates the Rural Garhwal with ease and in realism style.
       Murli Diwan was born in 1952 in village Devar , Nagnath , Chamoli Garhwal, Asia.
       The poet shows the real pain of discrimination for rural region against more support to city by political and administrative authorities.  Diwan pens down about environment, social aspects; social changes and their effects of society; suppression on women; social and political corruption.
     The following Satirical Poem by Murli Diwan is proof that Diwan is expert of Satire and Realism

हरिश्चन्द्र देखी चौकीदार मुर्दाघर पर
कौड्या मोल बिकी महाशंख एकी मिंट मा 

    The poet not only shows the weakness in the society but  tells the methodology for bringing bright future too.

Murli uses simple phrases and conventional phrases illustrating the subject. His poems are easily understandable
