There are advantages and disadvantages of Joint Family system. In a Garhwali Drama ‘Chaudandi’ (1975, Nitya Nand Maithani showed the a disadvantage of Joint family through humorous methodology. The biggest problem of gigantic joint family is that slowly family members ignore other’s emotions and problems or the family members do not care for other’s urgency. Makan Singh has a gigantic family of fifty members. There are all six daughters, their unemployed husbands and their children of Makan Singh in the family. Makan singh has only one son Teetu and his wife in this big family of fifty members. Teetu’s wife advised Teetu to run away from home. Teetu run away from home. Later the wife of Teetu shivers that Baba Narsingh’s spirit has come on her body. When she is asked about solution, she replies that there is ‘Pachas Sungrun Dosh (curse because of fifty boars living in house).As incarnation of Narsingh baba she says that all bores from home should be dispatched immediately.
The drama is humorous and attacks on the family members not caring for other’s privacy or needs. The drama ‘Chaudandi’ (1975) by Nitya Nand Maithani is hilarious one. The specialty of Nitya Nand Maithani had been that his dialogues create perfect images into the mind of audience.

टेलिफोनै सुभीता ह्व़े त मेरो छुट्यु क मजा इ भ्याळ जोग ह्व़े गेन. अर जब बिटेन मोबाइल आई त ए

मेरी ब्व़े ! क्यांक छुट्टी?

मि जब गाँ आंदो त चांदो बल दिन दुफरा तक सियूँ रौं . जब तलक मोबाइल नि छयो त वीं सगोरी बादणौ इ सौं

मी सुबेर नि बिजदो छौ बल्कण मा ग्विर्मिलाकौ समौ बिजदौ छौ. कति दें त सगोरी बादणौ गाणा अर भरतू बादी

क हुडकी अवाज से मि बिजदो छौ.

अर अब! सुबेरी पांच बजी बौशौ मोबाइल फोन घणघणान्द ," मिस्टर कुकरेती ! सौरी टु बौदर यू. असल मा मि तै निंद नि

आणि च मीन स्वाच त्वेमांगन ब्याळै सेल्स फीगर इ डिस्कस करे जाओ. .."

अब बौश तै मुख ऐथर गाळी त दियांदी नी च पण मन इ मन मा त ज्यू बुल्यान्दो बोली द्यों," ये भै त्वे फर निसिणि

रोग लग्युं च त मेरी निसिणि किलै करणि छे?" पर मि समणि बोल्दु," सर , इट्स माई ग्रेट लक दैट आपै दगड

सुबेर सुबेर छ्वीं लगी गेन ..." अर फिर एक घंटा तलक बिजिनेस की अकळाकंठी पर छ्वीं...

इना बौशौ फोन बन्द ह्व़े कि घरवळि फोन ऐ जान्दो.

आज बि मि गौं कि छुट्टी मा दिन दुफरा तक सीण चाणो छौ कि पैल बौशौ फोन आई अर अब घरवळि क फोन .

घरवळि न सीधा पूछ,' सुबेर सुबेर इथगा देर तलक फोन पर छ्वीं लगान्द तुम तैं शरम नि आँदी."

मीन ब्वाल," बौशौ फोन छौ."

घरवळि न ब्वाल," फिर ठीक छौ . एक वी च तुम तैं अडै सकुद . हाँ तुम बिज़ी ग्यवां कि ना ?"

मीन ब्वाल,' जु मि बिज्युं नि छौं त तेरो दगड को च बात करणु ? "

घरवळि न ब्वाल," म्यार मतबल च , बिस्तर छोड़ी याल कि ना ?"

मीन बोल,' बस अब कुछ इ देर मा ..."

घरवळि न ब्वाल," सुणो ! दांत मल्टी नेशनलौ टूथ पेस्ट से इ मंजैन हां! कखि टिमुर से दांत

नि मंजैन. नवां टिमरू न दान्तुं मीर मा घौ ह्व़े जावन धौं . "

मिन बथाई ," फिकर करणै जरुरात नी च बल ब्याळि इ गौं का छ्वटा बड़ा छ्वारा बुलणा छ्या बल ऊं तै पता इ नी च बल

कि कबि गढवाळ मा टिमरू बि होंद छा. "

घरवळि न पुळे क ब्वाल,' या त भली खबर च कि गढवाळ बिटेन टिमुर निबटी गेन . निथर मी तैं एकी फिकर रौण

छे बल कखि तुम बि गंवड्या लोगूँ तरां टिमुरन दांत मंजैल्या अर तुमत मीर्युं पर घौ ह्व़े जालो त ..! अर सूणो ...!'

मीन बोल,' हाँ सुणा !'

घरवळि न हिदैत दे ,' ह्यां ! चुलु मा गरम कर्युं पाणीन मुख नि ध्वेन हाँ ! "

मीन पूछ,' या नै बात ...?"

वां से मुख मा कालिमा या ब्लैकनेस ऐ जांद . आई डोंट वांट यू बिकम ब्लैकर .."

मीन राज ख्वाल,' फिकर नि कौर ! सरा गौं मा सब्यूँ चुल्ला खन्द्वार बण्या छन अर इख अब क्वी बि लखड़ नि जगान्दन."

घरवळि न भौत खुस ह्वेक ब्वाल," या त भौत इ बढिया खबर च कि गाँ सौब चुल्ल बांज पडया छन निथर में तै एकी फिकर रौण छे कि कखि

तुम ड़्यार बिटेन धुंवौ पाणिन मुक काळो कौरिक ऐल्या त मि इख मुक दिखाण लैक नि रौलु . अर सूणो."

मीन ब्वाल,' सुणा !"

घरवळि न ब्वाल," अर सुबेर सुबेर काच गैथुं रुटि नि खैन कुजाण कखि कचै ह्व़े जाओ त ."

मीन ढाढस दे ," अब हमर गाँ इ ना सरा अडगें /क्षेत्र मा क्वी गैथ /गहथ नि बोंदु. अब त पूजा मा बि कुटद्वर बिटेन लयां चार या पांच गैथुं दाण धरे जान्दन "

घरवळि न प्रसन्न ह्वेक ब्वाल," हाँ यो ठीक ह्व़े कि गाँ वळु न गैथ बूण बन्द करी आलीन. निथर मै तैं कचै चिंता रौणि छे. अच्छा सूणो ! "

मीन बोल,' ठीक च सुणा !"

घरवळि न ब्वाल,' ओ ग्राम -प्रेम मा भ्यूंळौ सिर्सवळन नि नयेन हाँ. भ्यूंळौ सिर्सवळन कखि तुमर मुक पर रिंकल नि पोड़ी जावन ."

मीन सांत्वना दे," फिकर करणै ज्रोरात नी च . अब गौं की सार्युं से भ्यूंळ इ निबटी गेन अर फिर मल्टीनेशनल कम्पन्यूँ विज्ञापन से

इखाक लोग गाँ की हरेक चीज से घीण करण लगी गेन ."

घरवळि न आल्हादित ह्वेक ब्वाल,' भलो ह्व़े गौं की सार्युं से भ्यूंळ इ निबटी गेन अर तख लोग गाँ कि हरेक चीज से घीण करण लगी गेन .

कतई जरोरात नी च . बुड्यों दगड पेकी बि तुम पर बुड्याण ऐ जाण . आई हेट यू बिहेव लाइक ओल्ड मैन ."

मीन ब्वाल, "वांक क्वी चिंता नि कौर अब इख गाँ मा बि पन्दरा सोळा सालक नौन्याळ बि खूब दारु शराब घटकाण

सीखी गेन . घाम अछल्यांद नी च कि सौब जवान छ्वारा म्यार इख दारु पीणो निडे जान्दन अर दगड मा अर्बन मंचिंग (शहरी चखणा ) बि लै आन्दन. "

Alcohol addiction, alcohol consumption, alcohol abuses and drug addiction among people has been the subject of concern for social workers, intellectuals and writers from the beginning of civilization. That is the reason that readers find the subjects of alcohol addiction, alcohol consumption, alcohol abuses and drug addiction in epics, literature, and folk literature of earlier age. The modern literature is full of subject of alcohol addiction, alcohol consumption, alcohol abuses and drug addiction.

German dramatists Holz and Schalf wrote a drama ‘Die Familie Selicke’ about alcohol. The ‘Dreamers ‘by playwright Jack Davis depicts about alcohol abuse. The famous drama ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ by famous drama playwright Tennessee Williams deals with the subject of alcohol abuse too. ‘The drunkard the drama’ drama by William H. Smith criticizes alcohol abuse.
Chinese modern drama and film ‘Qutting’ deals about struggle to overcome drug and alcohol addiction.

‘Tom’: A Contemporary Garhwali Drama depicting Negative Effects of Alcohol Addiction
Tom means the pain. The theme of ‘Tom’ drama by Maithani is about escaping from the realities by alcohol consumption, repeating acts by addicted person, and social, monitory and ethical losses by alcohol consumption. The story is about a Jagri (Religious performer of Ghadela a folk ritual) is alcohol addicted. Jagri steals the necklace of a young girl. Jagri is enjoying alcohol and his ailing son dies because of non availability of medicines and care. The drama is written for criticizing alcohol consumption, alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse. The relevancy of ‘Tom’ is very much in today’s time.

आर्म डीलरऔ एजेंट ," मी चीन बौर्डर पर सेना कि कमजोरी क पूरी रिपोर्ट कि फाइल दे द्योलू .पण त्वे तै क काम करण पोड़ल."

एडिटर," अरे आप हुकुम त द्याओ."

आर्म डीलरऔ एजेंट ," सेना मा हमारि कम्पनी क विरोधी द्वी बड़ा इमानदार अधिकारी छन . आप अपण पेपर मा रोज यूंक बिरोध मा खबर अर लेख छापो

कि यूंक भतियाभन्द ह्व़े जाओ."

एडिटर," अरे मी इन एडिटोरियल लिखुल कि जनता दुयूं बिटेन इस्तीफा मंगण बिसे जाली."

ब्युरेक्रेट," सेना क एक हैंको अधिकारी च जो म्यरा सयाळो आर्मी कौंट्रेक्ट का बिरोधी च . अब मौक़ा अयूं इ च त मी यूँ तैं मजा चाखान्दो.

मी एक क्लासिफाइड सीक्रेट फाईलै कौपी देलू जो यूँ तैं बदनाम कॉरी देली. बस अपण पेपर मा यूँ दुयूं क बारा.."

एक राजनीतिज्ञ ,' एडिटर साब ! मजा मा ना. "

एडिटर," सर! आपकी मेहरबानी च."

राजनीतिज्ञ," यार जरा ये रक्षा मंत्री तैं धौंस दीण छे त ..भौत इ इमानदार बणदो हाँ ! "

एडिटर," बस हुकुम द्याओ ना.."

राजनीतिज्ञ," मी सेना कि एक भौति टॉप सीक्रेट फाइल कि कौपी भिजणु छौं .बस इन मिर्च-मसाला लगाण कि रक्षा मंत्री पाणि मांग हाँ! "

एडिटर," अजी खुलासा करण हमर काम च. आप फाइल कि कौपी भ्याजो. भोळ आग लगी जाली."

विदेसी आर्म डीलर ," हेलो एडिटर ! मि विदेसी आर्म डीलर छौं. मि चांदो कि द्वी इमानदार ब्युरेक्रेटु काट छपी जाओ.इ द्वी मेरी कम्पनी तैं भितर इ नि घुसण दीणा छन "

एडिटर,' बस हुकम द्याओ.."

विदेसी आर्म डीलर ," मि सेना की एक महत्वपूर्ण फाइल कि कौपी भेजणु छौं.बस यूँ दुयुंक खूब बेजती हूण चयेंद ."

एडिटर,'' अजी खुलासा कर ण इ त हमारो धर्म च फिर कैकी बि बेजती ह्वाओ . इन मा चाओ त भारत माता कि इ बेजती किलै नि ह्वाओ.'

विदेसी आर्म डीलर अमणो मन मा ," हाँ ! भारत की बेजती करणो भारतीय गुण त भारत मा हजारो साल से च."

Na Theed main Tain: A Garhwali Drama about Desire for Having a Son

(Review of a Garhwali Drama ‘Na Theed main Tain’ by Nitya Nand Maithani)

It is a common fact that every person desires for a son or sons for his heir. The theme of ‘Na Theed main Tain’ by Nitya Nand Maithani is about desire of a son and having daughters. Nannumal wishes for a son and in this process his wife delivers five daughters. Now the children fell ignored from parent side and the father fells torture. Neither parents nor children are comfortable from the situation.
Nitya Nand Maithani’s dialogues are the life line for the dram and its speed.

तबौ खबरूं मजा अर आजौ खबरूं बस्याण

अहा जब मी पढ़दो थौ त खबरूं /समाचारूं मजा इ कुछ हौर होंद था. आज ताजी खबर बि बासी तिबासी लगदी .

अर वै बगतौ सात दिन पैलाकी खबर गरमा गरम , ताजी लगदी छै. तब रेडिओ बीस गौं मा एक मौ क इख होंद थौ अर रेडियु तबी बजदो थौ

जब वीं मौक मुखिया को ट्रकौ बैटरी क इंतजाम कर्युं ह्वाओ.

ट्रांजिस्टर तैबरी तलक फैशन मा नि ऐ थौ.

तब रयुमर(Rumar) बि अछेकी खबर लगदि छे.. अब खबरूं अर्थ इ होंद बस रयुमर (Rumar).

सरा अडगैञ /क्षेत्र मा हमारि स्कोल इ खबरूं सोत थौ. इकी दिल्ली क एक अंग्रेजी अर एक हिंदी अखबार आन्द था. बकै जादातर

गां या त राष्ट्रीय खबरूं तै बेकार कि खबर माणदा छया या कर्मभूमि या सत्यपथ पर इ भर्वस करदा था. आज ट खबर ताज़ी होंदी नीन

टी.वी. वळा , नेट वळा सेकंड सेकंड कि खबर या र्यूमर देणा रौंदन.

हमर सिलोगी स्कुल मा पांच छै दिन पैलाक क अखबार तकरीबन बारा या एक बजी आन्द थौ .पोस्ट मास्टर जीक पढ़णो हिसाब से

इ अखबार आन्द थौ. पोस्ट मास्टर जी जथगा जल्दी अखबार बांची दीन्दा छया अखबार बि उथगा जल्दी स्कुल तक पौंछदो थौ. जैदिन

पोस्ट मास्टर जी कें जीमण मा या अपण हौळ लगाणौ जयां ह्वावन त वैदीन स्कुल तैं अपणो अखबार नि मिल्दो छौ.पोस्ट मास्टर जी सकूलौ

मैनेजमेंट कमेटी उपाध्यक्ष बि छया अर खलबळो जंग्या पैरिक मीटिंग मा आंदा छया.

हमर प्रिंसिपल बड़ा अनुशासन का मामला मा कडक छया. पण खबरूं मामला बिचारा मुलैम छया. असल मा ऊंक पढाई लिखाई

लखनौ मा ह्व़े. त खबर पढ़णो बीमारी दगड़ मा लैन अर या बीमारी मास्टरूं पर बि सौरी गे. प्रिंसिपल साब जनि अखबार आंदो थौ अपणी

अंग्रेजी क्लास छोडि चली जांदा छया अर पढंदेरूं तैं गाँ मा घटीं ख़ास खबरु से अंग्रेजी मा नया वाक्य लिखणो दे जांदा छया.

पढंदेर बि खबरूं तै पसंद करदा छया त अंग्रेजी मालिखणा कोशिश करदा छया बल ," आज बि कैरा काका क काळी दुधाळ कलोड़न दूध नि दे त कैरा

काका न क्रोध मा काकी तै कलोड़ क कुटांसीन कसिक बाँध अर कंडाळि झुप्पान खूब झपोड़ी दे. कनी कौरिक काकी न कुटांसी

त्वाड अर अपण काकिम कुटद्वर भाजी गे. " अब चूँकि खबर असली होंद छे अर मूल सोच गढवाळी मा होंद छौ त क्वी बि छ्वारा अंगरेजी मा सै अनुबाद नि कौर सकदा छया.

अब ठीक ह्व़े गे अब पढंदेरूं मूल सोच या त हिंदी मा होंद या अंग्रेजी मा त अब अनुबाद करण सरल ह्व़े गे. हमर टैम पर मूल सोच गढवाळी मा होंद छे

त हम तैं गढवाळी मा सुच्यां वाक्युं अंगरेजी क्या हिंदी मा अनुवाद करण बि कठण होंद छौ.

अब रिवाज छौ कि खबर पढणो बान मास्टर लोग एकैक कौरिक प्रिंसिपलौ कमरा मा जांदा छया . प्रिंसिपलौ कमरा इ औफ़िस छौ अर पुस्तकालय बि छौ.

चपड़सी क्लासौ द्वार पर आंख्युं आख्युं से सैन कौरिक मास्टर जी कुण अखबार पढणो प्रिंसिपल साबौ न्यूत दे जान्दो छौ .

भूगोल टीचर अखबार पढ़णो जांद दै 'पेरू क ग्रास लैंड' पर लिखणो हुकुम दीन्दो छौ त छटी क्लासौ स्कुल्या हिंदी मा लेखी देंदी छा,' पेरू क घासौ डांडु मा उळिण्ड

डड्यळ त हुंद इ च दगड मा तिमुल , तुसारू , गीन्ठी, सकिनु, बि होंद." अब जु हमन द्याख ओ इ भूगोल मा लिखण छौ. अर जब मास्टर जी खबर पौढीक आंदा

छा त सब्यूँ खबर डंडा से लीन्दा छा किलैकि पेरू क घासौ डांडु मा तिमुल , तुसारू , गीन्ठी, सकिनु होंदी नि छौ. डंडा की खबर से इ हम तै खबर होंदी छे कि

पेरू क घासौ मैदान कुछ हौरी किस्मौ होन्दन.

इतिहासु मास्टर जी बि खबर पढ़णो जांद दै बोली जांद छया जन कि ,' आज राणा सांगा अर बाबर कि लड़ाई पर लेख लिखो."

अब हम त छै मा छया त पांच तलक इतिहास क्वी खास नि होंद थौ त हमन वी लिखण छौ जो हमन देखी छौ . हमन द्वी भायुं बंटवरो मा लड़ाई दिखीं छे, कै आदिमक अर वैकी घरवळि

लडै या बल्दुं लडै दिखीं छे त हमन पैलि वै हिसाबन इ भारतौ इतिहास लेखी दे

बीरू न अपण ब्व़े बुबाक झगड़ा दिख्युं छौ त लेखी दे ," बाबरन राणा सांगा क नथुल खैंची त राणा सांगा न बाबरक नकडंडी बुकै दे, बाबरन राणा सांगा क बाळ उपाड़ीन अर मुरखल खैंचद दें

बाबरक हथुं मा राणा सांगा क कंदुड़ो पिन्ना इ ऐ गे. राणा सांगा न बाबरक द्वी जंघड़ो बीच मुंडन ढसाक मारी दे त बाबर तै दस दिन तलक अन्ध्यर भितर ग्वड़े ह्व़े."

फिर हम धीरी धीरे अनुभवी छात्रों से सीखिक ये समौ मा गौं मा हुंयाँ नौली नौली घटनाओं बारा मा विश्लेषण करण बि सीखि गेवां.

पढंदेरूं कुणि अखबार पढ़णो बगत इंटरवल मा छौ पण वै बगत पर पढंदेर चा-पकोड़ी खाणो बजार भाजी जांदा छया अर केवल वो इ अखबार पढ़दा छया

जौं मा चा -पकोड़ी क पैसा नी होंदा छया.
