Now lets see the verb "Bite".

In kumauni, we have various verbs for biting.

बुका: This term is used generally for biting by a DOG. What i understand by this verb is that it is used when an animal has injected its teeth into a person's skin and not taking out teeth.
e.g. भली बे जये, कुकुर बुकाल

दाड़: This verb is used for bite of an animal having sharp teeth. Mostly for cat family animals. In this teeth are injected and taken out spontaneously.
e.g. ऊ लाल बाछ आज बागल दाड़ो

दातिक: Bite by human beings.

काटोल: Generic term for verb bite.

ठाड़ which means "standing" and लुकाई which means "to hide", these words are also used in RamCharirt Manas by Tulsidas. So It can be concluded that these words in Kumauni came from Avadhi
