Author Topic: How To Change Tough Agriculture Methodology - पहाडो की कठिन खेती  (Read 71299 times)

Dear Mehta Ji,
Thanx for starting this thread.
As for the portable tracter, I remember that i have seen similar portable tractor already being used in some parts of UK. Although these are being used by some horticultural department/institutions for research purposes under their supervision.  Last year when i was heading to Paharpani i saw this type of tractor.

Bisht da,

Thanx for sharing this news. Hope in coming days there would changes in our way of doing agriculture.

There is need to adopt some kinds of techique like i have quoted about the potable tractor so that people get somewhat relief / comfort in tough working on the field.

Dear all like minded people,
Very well said we are changing the nature of the agriculture (Basically cropping pattern), but what abt???
National average 70% people living in rural areas and 65% people getting lively hood through the agriculture
But f you talk abut Uttarakhand t surely be higher..
No matter Ag is paying them right reward.
Daju Mr Ashok/ Arvind very well said:
Hisalu/ Kirmora: it is paying quite high price in export market but is there even a singl farmer growing these fruits commercially, even I see that the plant growing are slowly getting extinct.
If we talk abt consolidation: it may be done for 0.1%  people. Is that will change the farming and all.
Year 2000 utarakhand goot the share and name now 2008, but how many changes interms of the farming..
I can see only one thing that is restricted use of fertilisers and chemicals for going organic….
But are we capitalizing on this “organic brand “ also??
If it’s a state wide approach than “UTTARAORG” something could be the brand nameand get the premium.
Absolute Advantage: A lot of things Rododendron, Birds of Paradise, brahma kamal, hippotis (Kir Jhar) etc are the thing we will not find in any other parts of the country
First Mover Advantage: amog al the hills state UK & HP moving fast, but near to delhi & international airport (dehi), proposed at Pantnagar will give a long mileage to UK farming. So we this thing can be focused.
PPP (Public Private Partnership): the only hope for the development of the UK.
Privates participation: all companies coming to UK right now are not giving benefit much to UK people, bc factories at Pantnagar, Haridwar are getting raw material from out side and selling outside and in UK. But until industries using the raw material from UK comes up will not be a growth engine:

I think its easy to write than implement as me written a lot but real contribution?/
But I as Mr. Arvid Ji & Ashok Ji if few more hand join together we can increase the speed of growth and development in UK.

Hope I have note bored much,
Thanks for the patience to read the mail, if so,
Regards
Prakash

Brilliant Photographs of UK filelds,Mehta ji.
Now growing wheat and paddy in hills of UK cannot be a viable option commercially. It can feed the local population but nothing less nothing more .No commercial gains which can improve the overall picture.
Reason, they can never achieve the yields which can be obtained by growing these crops in plains.
Such tract of lands can be utilized for multiple cropping .Fruit orchards and vegetable growing as an intercrop.
Pulses, millets ,paddy ,wheat etc.,only that much quantity should be grown which is sufficient for a household.
Changing crop pattern to Fruit orchards and vegetables will serve dual purpose.

--It will commercially fetch better yields due to climatic advantages and wheat and paddy for family use can be bought from the market at fraction of the cost.
--Land erosion which is a major problem in the hills can be controled by these perennial crops as the top soil is protected.
