Uttarakhand is really facing acute shortage of water. I was just taking our Senior Member D N Badola ji at Ranikhet. He was saying in three days only once water supply is available and people have to store the water.
The situation is bad to worse.

Water Crisis Affects Villages in Uttarakhand, India
Villages in India's northern state of Uttarakhand are faced with limited water supplies.
Its forced residents to tread for miles to fetch a pot of water.
People have to travel for hours to fetch water.
[Mahendra Singh, Bhatt Village Resident]:
"People come from far off places to fill their vessels and it requires two to two-and-a-half hours of walking up and down. Waiting in queues used to take so long, which meant other domestic chores could not be done."
There are some hand pumps in the villages but they aren’t able to bring up enough water.
[Bharat Singh Chaudhary, Gholtir Village Resident]:
"Several rivers flow from Uttarakhand state which have the capacity to quench the thirst of the entire country, and yet it is ironic that the people of the same state are reeling under a water crisis. The hand pumps you see dry up if used continuously for one hour, and it requires 8 to 10 hours to recharge with water."
Residents say officials aren’t listening to their pleas for help.
But the government of Uttarakhand says it is working to solve the problem.
