Recently Uttarakhand’s music and film community celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary in Dehardoon, more recently the entire history is been captured in the form of a website to flourish the cinema community more. Who else could be the creator, its been activated by the same guy who brought the Uttarakhand on www portal for the first time in 1996, needless to mention the name, yes I am talking about Shri. Rajeev Rawat only.

In the form of a graphical abstract, from Garhwali filmmaker Parashar Gaur’s numerous archives and various other sources, the site hopes to serve as a library for essentials relating to the pioneering spirits behind Uttarakhand’s modern cultural renaissance through , theatre, skits and quality films. I won't let you wait longer, here you go with the link: http://cinema.prayaga.org/

Its worthless to mention the contribution of Shri Parashar Gaur Ji in Uttarakhand’s film community. While discussing on current cinematic trendz he mentioned about the need of true social revolution, I wasn’t amazed to feel the enthusiasm and passion he possess for the betterment of PAHARI culture, he further enforced on need of an ultimate comprehensive tool to motivate inhabitants out there for social rights, to me Gaura seems to be his stratagem in the line along….

Encyclopedia of Uttarakhand, Rajeev Rawat, says, “Uttarakhandi cinema and its theatrical antecedents are a product of this general awakening that began shortly after independence and accelerated in fits and starts through the 60s, 70s, and 80s, before exploding in the 1990s when the "Uttarakhand Andolan" or statehood movement peaked. Throughout the hills and in Dehradun, Srinagar , Almora, and Nainital, a movement emerged made of “artists, poets, singers and actors using cultural and artistic forms to further the struggle.” (Fernandes, S. "With our pens, brushes and art" Green Left Weekly, July 3, 1996). Their marriage of folkloric village themes and pressing socio-economic problems continued into the medium of film that began with the production of Gaur's Jagwal in 1983 through to the 2003 premiere of Teri Saun, a film explicitly based on the Uttarakhand movement.”

I think now its time to refresh ourselves with old reminiscences:::::>>>

Hope to see more quality movies from the banner, good luck....

Best Wishes and Regards

Recently I came to know about your next release 'Gaura', I saw your movie 'Jagwal' when I was in school. I really admire you for your courage to make first garhwali film and to open a door for our uttarakhandi films.  I have one personal blog on Uttaranchal, after knowing/reading about 'Gaura', I also put up small post for same (http://www.readers-cafe.net/uttaranchal/2008/06/17/garhwali-film-gaura/). I know you must be very busy, just wanted to request you if it's possible to share something more about 'Gaura', like making of Anchalik Films type information, kind of  e-Interview. I can send you the questions and you can then send reply back and  then I will put all these in one small article. Because this site I have is in Hindi so I will send hindi question, if you prefer english then also no problem.  Also just wanted to know if you are planning to release this in VCD or DVD too. What about Jagwal, is that movie available in vcd, just in case if someone wants to buy here in USA. Long time back I read your blog too and then came to know that now-a-days you live in Canada. Please let me know if you can spare some time and share your experience. I will really appreciate and hope for young generation to learn some tips and experience from you. Thanks and Best Wishes for success of Gaura
