Dehradun, April 4 -- A week-long Uttaranchal International Film Festival will be organised by the Uttaranchal Film Chamber of Commerce (UFCCUFCC United Financial Casualty Companies in collaboration with Films Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting which will begin on April 23.
This festival is dedicated to saving the environment and will include the screening of national and international level children's films said the Uttaranchal International Film Festival Director RK Verma here in Dehradun on Saturday.
While addressing the mediapersons Verma said that this is the first time such an event is being organised in Dehradun with the aim of promoting the film industry and encouraging the preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the State.
Verma said that the festival will begin from April 23 and last till April 29 in Dehradun. Four films including documentaries, short films, animation films and children's films of international repute will be screened each day during the film festival. He further said that this film festival will provide unique platform for exchange of ideas, culture and experiences among the people of Uttarakhand and other states of India in the field of cinema.
The festival will create awareness among the people of Uttarakhand regarding films as a source of entertainment, and its educative
and aesthetic values, he added. The event will also boost the condition of the film industry in Uttarakhand which has been unable to develop to its potential due to lack of attention and sector friendly policies. Improving the condition of the film industry will also benefit tourism in the State.
Verma said that it will also provide a powerful platform for Uttarakhand film makers to interact with other national and international film makers. "A special package is also planned for the film makers of Uttarakhand where inthose professionals looking for an opportunity to screen their films in the festival can contact the festival management," he added.
