DJJS SANTULAN on board to discuss “WOMEN LEADERSHIP” in 1st Regional Conference by Institute of Company Secretaries of India
NEW DELHI: The trait in woman of not walking alone but taking each one along manifests her an exemplar of great and successful leader. However, with huge contribution of imposed subordination, women tend to forget this trait and start to walk behind the opposite *. To share perspectives on the said concern, Institute of Company Secretaries of India organized their 1st Regional Conference for Women on the theme “WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP ROLES ‐ CHALLENGES AND SUCCESS MANTRAS” on December 3, 2016 at NDMC Convention Center, Connaught Place, New Delhi.
Recognizing activism of DJJS Santulan against gender discrimination and violence against women, and contribution in holistic empowerment of women, the organization was invited on board as panelist to share their stance on women leadership. Sadhvi Deepika Bharti, disciple of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj ji and program coordinator of Santulan’s PAN India operations, participated in the conference on behalf of DJJS along with other eminent and learned personalities from diverse spheres viz, CS (Dr.) S K Gupta- Head- Group Internal Audit & Company Secretary, Spentex Industries Limited, New Delhi, Tarot Reader Soonia and Ms. Deepa Bhatia Chirayath-Leader, Entity Governance & Compliance (Tax & Regulatory), PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Limited, Chennai.
With honoring address by CS Divya Tandon-Company Secretary, Powergrid Corpn of India Ltd., Sadhvi ji was invited on dais to express her views on the topic. Sadhvi ji, by means of a presentation, disseminated knowledge about the concept of ‘Gender Neutral Leadership’. Referring to impeccable achievements by women, Ms. Arundhati Bhattacharya-SBI Chief, Ms. Chanda Kochhar-ICICI Head, Ms. Shikha Sharma-Axis Bank CEO to name a few, she discussed the remarkable success of women the society has attended. On the contrary, she also shed light on the otherwise unnoticed percentage of women in C-suite as low as 6%, tagging discrimination as inevitable part of a woman’s life. The existing paradox due to lack of opportunities and women ignorant of their potential reservoir was also put forward. Sadhvi ji also shared the strategic and operational conduct of DJJS’ socio-spiritual initiatives by women under the guidance of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji for the establishment of world peace, supported by a video screening.
Present amongst the dignitaries were CS Monika Kohli (Chairperson, Women Empowerment Commission of NIRC of ICSI, CS Mahish Gupta (Chairman, NIRC of ICSI), Senior CS Kiran Sharma, CS Payal A Puri, Alka Arora (Regional Director, NIRC of ICSI), CS Rajeev Bhambri (Treasurer, NIRC of ICSI), Rajeev Bajaj (Central Council Member, ICSI), Dhananjay Shukla (Vice-Chairman, NIRC of ICSI), CS Deepak Khukreja (Former Chairman, NIRC of ICSI), CS Nitesh Kumar Sinha (Chairman, Professional Dev & Coordination Committee, NIRC of ICSI), CS Pradeep Debnath (Secretary, NIRC of ICSI) and good number of CS professionals.
Towards the end was a thank you note delivery along with an honouring memento to Sadhvi ji. The participants expressed interest to be part of Santulan and contribute in future Sansthan’s initiatives. Ms. Jyoti Jindgar-Advisor, Competition Commission of India was invited as the chief guest. The conference witnessed participation of approximately 250 attendees that include company secretaries and activists in gender province. The program was concluded with a group photo.
