Dear Tamta Ji,

As I have quoted in my initial mail that casteesim is not only the issue of Uttarakhand, It is an issue that is like a virus which is harming humanity. Casteesim, Religionalism are other issues are like bomb for mankind. These issues have been made by the people which are now going to eat the society.

As regards of casteesim in Uttarakhand, I do agree this exists there but I see there is reduce in cases of crime on casteesim. Though in gone days, there was issues. However, new generation is ignoring such issues and they need only development and prosperity.

I am sure in time to come, this caste system will abolish from society when there will be 100 % literacy rate. It has been seen during election our politician are one of the factors who give a fan to this issue for their political benefits only.

Tamata ji you have really raised a sensitive and serious issue. Casteism has so deep rooted in our society that it is not possible to get rid of that easily, But when we talking of this issue in context of Uttarakhand, the real problem lies in form practices of Chua chut.

Actually when such kind of questions are thrown to us we simply move forward by saying that this is a worldwide/countrywide phenomeon, OR we don’t believe in it OR we don’t practice Chua-Chut. That is good thing that we don’t believe in Chua chut etc, but are we doing anything positive to eradicate this problem from Uttarakhand.

Just to begin with isn’t this is our duty to persuade the so called lower caste to assimilate in social gathering like marriages etc as a normal human being, e.g. allowing them, their kids to sit together, to have food together.  This is not going to abolish the caste system but will certainly help to bring back self respect and confidence in our brother and sisters who has been abused by our forefathers for centuries. We usually tend to overlook these dark chapters of history when we describe our great culture and Dev Bhoomi.

I don’t know but how many of here know that there is kind of undeclared ban on the people of lower castes to visit our great pilgrim places. Specially those who reside near to these places simply avoid visiting them in fear of getting embarrassed.

What are the other things that could be done to stop practices of Chuaa Chut in Uttarakhand. Looking forward to hear the views of other members of Merapahad.

Uttarakhandi Ji,

Thanx for your sharing your views on this issue. I have already expressed my views on the subject. However, I would like to quote further that compared to other state, casteeism is less prevailed in our state. Now  this is trend is reducing .drastically.

I am here talking about the kind of treatment meted out to people of so called lower caste in Uttarakhand. You guys are saying that it is related to literacy, but what happens to the those same literate persons when they visit UK for some social gatherings etc and become the part of discrimination or mute spectator of discrimination.

Any ans……

uttarakhandi ji,

I have spent almost 20 yrs of childhood in uttarakhand and visited in several parts of UK. I agree earlier there are some ill treatment and other social un-justice but drastic changes have now come there.

I hail from bageshwar during recent trip to hometown, i witnessed that people even attended tha religious gathering of lower caste people and some discriminty on eathing etc still exists but in coming days this will automatically get ablolished.

It is good to see that you atleast has guts to speak something about this issue. Just on the the lighter side what do you think how long will it take to get away with this kind of discrimination, any timeline say 10 year, 20 or more.....
