Hemant Pandey one of the most established actor in bollyhood from Uttarakhand origin. He basically belongs Pithoragarh Disstt of Uttarakhand and has been working in Film Industry since long. You must have seen in popular TV  Serial “Office Office”. Apart from this he has done a lot of films also. Recently, he has given a live Interview in merapahad webforum and interacted with his pahadi brother & sisters. The gist of interview held on 24 Oct 07 at 1440 hrs is reproduced for your information. Pandey Ji  : bilkul hona chaiye ye sara kaam Uk Gvt ka hai uske sahyog ke bina kuch nahi ho sakta hai. par ye bada durbhageya hai ki abhi tak hamare koi channel nahi hai

Piyush Suyal : I am Piyush Suyal, belongs to Pauri Garhwal... I rarely watch Television Serials but after all I like few Serials & OFFICE OFFICE is one of them.. really i enjoyed ur performance in this Serial & really felt happy when I came to know that u r from Uttrakhand.

Dehradun, 25 Oct: Hemant Pandey, ‘Bahadur’ of film ‘Krrish’, is among the most talented comedians in Bollywood in current times. Hailing from village Pabhey in district Pithoragarh, Hemant has become a household name in the country with his role of ‘Pandeyji’ in the TV serial ‘Office Office’.
After completing his formal education in Pithoragarh, Pandey moved to New Delhi and after that to Mumbai. Garhwal Post here presents an exclusive interview with one of the most recognised comedians of Indian television, who is slowly and steadily making his mark in Bollywood. Some excerpts from a telephonic interview with the artist:

Tell us something about the initial days of your acting career?

Some 18-19 years ago, I went to Delhi. I was associated with NGOs like Jan Madhyam and Allharipu there and was doing puppet shows on a number of social issues for these voluntary organisations. After that I became associated with 'Rangmandal' and worked under Ibrahim Alqazi, MK Raina, to mention a few. The Rangmandal exposure gave me real knowledge of theatre. My struggle in Delhi taught me many things and provided me first hand experience of big cities. After that I decided to move to Mumbai for greener pastures.

You have been in Mumbai for the past 13 years. How do you view the move?

It was great! In these past years, I have acted in some 34-35 TV serials, 20-25 films and 60 Ad films.

Among all the serials that you have acted in, 'Office-Office' remains the most popular? Your comment?

Oh yes! When the serial began some six years ago, nobody thought it would achieve such success. But even after all these years, the serial remains one of the most popular on Indian TV. ‘Office Office’ has made its reputation by presenting quality work. I became emotional during my recent visits to Dubai and London, when Indians there reacted after seeing me, ‘Kaisey ho Pandeyji?'

The year 2007 has been the best year of your career. Is that right?

Yes! ‘Mr Hot Mr Kool’ has hit the silver screen. ‘Kya Kehna Aaap Ka’ and ‘Sirf Romance-Love By Chance’ is all set to release by the year-end.

How was it working with Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan in Krrish?

It was the second opportunity to work with Hrithik Roshan in Krrish, the first being ‘Aap Mujhe Aachey Lagney Lage’. I was impressed by their professional approach and commitment.

Your character of Bahadur had the Pahari touch.Rakesh Roshanji allowed me to develop the character. My grandfather was a traditional healer. I saw him performing the treatment though ‘Mantras.’ I used all this knowledge in the film and Roshanji was much amused by the outcome. Even I learned the mantras of healing migraine and toothache. Even today, many visit my home in Mumbai to avail themselves of my services.

What are your future plans?

I want to do something in Uttarakhand. I am planning to start something in the tourism sector. I will visit Uttarakhand regarding my project. Besides this, I would like to share my experience of the film world with youths of the hill state. I would like to get associated with organisations/ individuals from my home state to host acting workshops there.

You were also into football. Tell us about that?

Football is a passion for me. The great sporting environment of Pithoragarh inspired me to take up football. In fact, I was even selected for the state football camp. I still keep two soccer balls in my car. I play soccer in Mud Island, whenever I get the time.

What efforts should the state government make to encourage filmmakers from Bollywood to shoot in Uttarakhand?

They should introduce a single window system to get the shooting permission. At the present time there are many options before the filmmakers. If coordination among different government departments can be worked out, it would serve the purpose. Otherwise none of the professional filmmakers has the time to waste in Babugiri. Even hosting a website containing information about the locations, the concerned department managing the location and the charges would be a great help.

If you were offered a wish, what would it be?

If offered a wish, I would like to change the fate of Uttarakhandi youth. I don’t want Pahari youths to end up becoming ‘Chotu’ in a Dhaba of Delhi and ‘Bahadur’ in a ‘Chai Dukan’ of Mumbai.

What message would you like to give to these youths?
Have patience. Uttarakhand is a treasure trove of opportunities and you can make your future in your home state. There is no need to migrate.
