This is the temple of 'Duryodhan' at Osla Village. We discovered it on our way to Har-ki-Dun Valley at the North-West corner of Uttarakhand in 1997. It was a cloudy day and the photo is quite dull. I thought of uploading this photo for its informative value, and not its photographic quality.

Those who are not familiar with 'Mahabharata', the great Indian epic, this photo needs some introduction. Duryodhan, the king of Hastinapur, the villain of the epic. It is said that after the holy war of 'Kurukshetra', where Duryodhan and man of his associates were killed, his followers took refuge in this area, the hills of Uttacanchal, which people (at that age) dared. They established temples of Duryodhan and Karna, one of his heroic associates, and spread the culture of worship of these dietified characters. Till date, people in 22 villages in the region worship Duryodhan and Karna.
