TARA KUND- A hidden jewel

(1/2) > >>

Kiran Rawat:
Tara Kund Trek

Situated at a height of 2,200 mts is a hidden jewel of Garhwal, Tara Kund is picturesque spot amidst lofty mountains in the Charisirh development area.

One of my friend Dhramveer Rawat told me about it, whom a neighbour told that he visit TK 19 year back & the specialty of the lake is that Lotus (Kamal) are seen only to the soul whom god want to. They are grown here naturally. I was very curious to visit this place & finally planed for it. Dharamveer also want to but have to attend a marriage first then TK.

I started gathering information but no information was available in personal or in net, only that we have to cross Pabo Bazar & Pethani. I got a foggy idea that to catch a bus for Tripalisen from Kotdwar. Rest information I gathered from the co-passengers.

Finally I got the plan & have to get down in Pethani & take a jeep to Palli village & from there it is only 5 km steep trek.
On the trek I was gathering information but was surprised to know that even villagers do not visit the plan, they only visit it in Teej Festival (Oct- Nov)

It started raining & I have to take shelter in shepherds hut & then resume the trek, as I getting dark a local advice me to stay in Pandit Ji’s hut (shepherds hut) & visit TK early morning.

Beside the lake an ancient temple adorn the place & beside the temple there is well (kua) of fresh water. I was surprised to see a well in this height

The teej festival is celebrated with great gaily when the local people come here to worship and pay homage to God.

Another route
Pauri to Pathani is 49 km
Pathani to Sirtoli is 4 km
Sirtoli to Tara Kund is 5 km trek

On retune i visited my mother village Pipali- Singh Negis Village (near Khirku) but my memory card corrupted & I lost all my valuable 200 photos.

Do any one have more information & photos of Tara Kund
Please share with us
