Birla Vidya Mandir (Nainital)

Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital is a boys' school in India that opened in July 1947. The school is the product of the vision of Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, an Indian independence activist.

Before India achieved its independence Pant wanted to start a public school for a new generation of India that would preserve a love for the country and its heritage and provide a modern education. This vision of Pant materialized from a generous donation from Ghanshyam Das Birla, a philanthropist and industrialist. Pant then used an estate that had housed the Hallet War School during India's war years to create Birla Vidya Mandir.

The school begins for students who want to study in Class 4th till Class 12th. Though being an English medium school, the ethos are totally Indian. Most of the times, the teachers are referred to as 'Guruji' and 'Didiji'. Prayers in Sanskrit are held before every meal and students celebrate the various festivals of India among each other and the members of the staffs.

The School is situated 330 km to the north east of Delhi in the Central Himalayan township of Nainital. Its campus is 65 acres in area set at the top of a ridge, called "Sher-Ka-Danda" overlooking the lake, 1,500 feet above the town and 7,800 feet above sea level. It is well connected by a drivable road.

Mehta ji,
Put some more details about Nainital Zoo because it is the best place to visit in Nainital for visitors.  I can say that this is very small but definitely the best maintained zoo in India.   You can view some rare species there in this zoo.  The view of Naini Lake from zoo sight is also very facinating.
