  Prakashmani Dhashmana    is a senior journalist of Dehradun and is executive editor of Rant Raibar a Garhwali weekly.  Dhashmana writes regular humorous and satirical columns for the weekly by ‘Chakdait Uvach’. The readers like his writing style.
  Hak ko Paisa (Rant Raibar, 30/7/2012) discusses humorously and satirically about president election, current low profile position by Rahul Gandhi, Anna Hajare and in the last Dhashmana attacks satirically on corruption in government works.

  Since, the column is aimed at newspaper readers, Prakashmani discusses current event in newspaper style. Dr. Anil Dabral calls such style as ‘Akhbari Shaili’. In ‘Akhbari Shaili’, the satirical writer pays attention on shocking the readers more than the literary sense in writing.

             Parashar gaud posted ‘nak ku prateet’ a Garhwali language satire on 16/10/2009.
         Parashar Gaud attacks on the politicians for their esteem-less and pride-less actions. The satire is small and is through dialogues between the writer and elder aunt. In Hindi and Garhwali languages, the nose is the symbol of pride. The battle between Ravan and Rama was due to Lakshman cut the nose of Shurpankhaan the sister of Rawan.  Parashar uses ‘nose’ as symbolic word for satirizing the politicians for their esteem-less and pride-less actions.

    The satirical article ‘Tau k Isteefa’ (Garh Aina 27/3/1990) by Bhishma Kukreti is based on the opportunistic acts by various Janta Party leaders as Devi Lal then the deputy prime minister of India.  Kukreti lambasts on their breaking own political party for selfish reason and deceiving other leaders as well the Indian people.
यि वी देवीलाल छन जु पैलि डाळि लगान्दन अर फिर वीं इ डाळि तै काटी दीन्दन. यि पैल बंशीलाल तै च्याला बणान्दन फिर च्याला क बान इ खाड खुददन. भग्यान चरण सिंह तै गुरु बणान्दन अर फिर ऊँ से रुथिक बणबास चलि जान्दन . अवसरबाद मा यि अपण गुरु चरण सिंग से बि अग्वाड़ी छन
           The satire is in dialogue form between Bhishma Kukreti and Ishwari Prasad Uniyal. Kukreti also predicts the technological development in communication. Kukreti hits fiercely at  political opportunism and political opportunists as Devi Lal.

Abhinandan Patr-3: Satire Satirizing False Promises by politicians, Hype and Hypocrisy in Indian Politics 

  It has become conventional wisdom that politicians provide false promises before election and at the time of election. The election manifestoes of Indian political parties are nothing but the best example of false promises by politicians, hype and hypocrisy in Indian politics.
    The prolific Garhwali satirist Puran Pant Pathik is one of the great Indian satirists. In satirical article ‘Abhinandan Patra-3 (Swasti Shri, 2011), the great Indian satirist Pant nails down the false promises by Indian politicians. The great oriental satirists Puran hits on the hype created by electoral political candidates about development of the area and then forgetting forever their false promises.

          The famous contemporary satirist Pant jests the hypocrisy in Indian politics with common phrases of Garhwali. The style of attacking hype and hypocrisy in Indian politics and false promises by politicians is humorous.   
अर सच्ची त, अब तुम वो नि राया, कुछ हौरी ह्व़े गयौ. भाषण /वायदा/दिलासा अर उदघाटन इ छन तुमारा गैणा-पाता, भोजन-बिस्तरा.

Rajnaitik Gati Vidhi: Satire satirizing/ridiculing Political Activities and Political Momentum
                Famous Asian satirist Bhishma Kukreti published a satirical article ‘Rajnaitik Gati Vidhi’ (Garh Aina, 7/7/1990) when Punjab state was facing terrorism problem.  Most of the political party leaders used to speak that there was urgent requirement of political activities, political dialogues or political momentum in Punjab. Himalayan satirist Kukreti asks politicians the most suitable type of political activities, political dialogues or political momentum required in Punjab. Indian sub continental  satirist Kukreti ridicules the political activities in other parts of India among all political parties as asking donations by local political leaders to keep in their own pocket; protecting Gundas by local political activists or  groupies within party leaders from Mandal/Taluka level to Highest level.

            Tribhuwan Uniyal writes a regular satirical column ‘Hello  ...hello…Pradhani Bau’ for Khabar Sar a Garhwali newsletter.  Every time, Uniyal humorously takes in his Garhwali satirical column. In his satirical column of 15th December 2011 of Khabar Sar, Uniyal , satirically, criticizes  the corruption methods in getting Below Poverty cards BPL), corruption in old age pension card; getting awards to false Uttarakhand movement activists.  Tribhuwan attacks humorously and sharply that non- illegible get the facilities of Below Poverty facilities; old age Pension and Uttarakhand movement activist facilities through influence (jugad) and corrupt methods and the deserving candidates don’t get the facilities.
  The satire is in dialogue form between a Boy and sister in law (Pradhani Bau) on phone. Readers enjoy the smooth dialogues attacking on corrupt administration in Uttarakhand.

                Bhishma Kukreti wrote satire or lampoon in Garhwali, English and Hindi on various subjects and genre. ‘Vikas Devi k Pujari’ (Garh Aina, 6/7/1990) a Garhwali satire or lampoon is about common men   taking government loans (in reality fake purposes) and middle men helping the people in getting fake loans.  The rates for middlemen are fixed for particular amount of loan. For example, Basti needs money for hair cutting ceremony of his grandchild and applies for hundred chickens. The middleman helps him in getting fake loan and takes commission in advance. The government and political leaders as Gram Pradhan are involved in this business of providing fake loan.  The satire style is that the author is witnessing the loan procedure.

              The satirist attacks the money that is to enhance the commercial capability of people, the people, middle men and government agencies are misusing the government schemes.

  Before, British rule, the forests were the properly of villages in Garhwal. British changed the forest regulation and from the day one the corruption in forest department started. As soon as corruption in forest department started the forest mafia came in existence.
  In the present satirical article Guldar Pakde Ge bal (Rant Raibar, 5/3/2012), the satirical columnist Prakash Mani Dhashmana illustrates the various corrupt methodologies by forest department employees with the help of forest mafia as cutting trees, pouching tigers and other rare faunas and exploiting taking medicinal plants.  The satire citizens humorously the corrupt forest department and forest mafia.

    Bhishma Kukreti one of the prominent satirists of Himalayan language literature (as Parashar Gaur, Puran Pant, Prakash Mani, and Tribhuwan Uniyal) wrote on various subjects.  ‘Sahkaryan’ (Garh Aina, 28/5/1990) is satire on cooperative movement in rural Garhwal.
                   Kukreti narrates that in past the rural inhabitants were cooperative due to culture and need. However, the day government declared cooperative movement as fashion the cooperation took one eighty degree turn.  The  cooperatives as producer cooperative, public distribution cooperatives, marketing cooperatives, stone cutting cooperatives, credit cooperatives, forest product cooperative; fruit growers cooperative, vegetable grower cooperative and many more cooperatives were opened  in the village. The problem came for erecting boards of these cooperatives. The villagers started fighting for place of boards or color of boards and the whole natural or old cooperation among villagers started shattered.
        Kukreti, satirically attacks on the basic uncooperative behavior of members of cooperative societies.         Kukreti stressed that the people are forgetting the real meaning of cooperation after coming cooperatives. Cooperation is the foundation of cooperatives. However, when the cooperatives become the tool of shattering cooperation the results are opposite of basic purpose of opening cooperatives. Kukreti used exaggeration style in this satire.

             Bhishma Kukreti also drew a Cartoon in Garhwali in the same issue of Garh Aina satirizing cooperative movement and cooperation in rural Garhwal.

 Ham kakh jana Chhan (1994) a satire by Puran Pant Pathik is about declining the social and cultural norms in the society. Puran Pant rage fully states that we like to flatter others but we don’t respect our own people.  We have mortgage our pride, vision, clear thinking, courage and are bending toward coward character. We are becoming habitual of pulling down our own people as crabs. The society is bent to see other’s negative points only and leaving positive thinking. In cultural field too, we are confused and are leaving our cultural values.
   The satirist uses figurative language for satirizing decline in social and cultural values.
