A souvenir is an article that a tourist buys while travelling to memorize his/her travelling a particular place. In most of the cases, the tourist place has its unique souvenir to offer to the tourist.
In the satire ‘Garhwal ki Samlaun’, the satirist Bhishma Kukreti finds that the shop keepers of Rishikesh don’t have anything to show as the souvenir from Garhwal. The sweet is sold as Bengali sweet; the Latthi is sold as MP’s latthi.  Kukreti feels sorry either Garhwalis don’t make any unique souvenir or shop keepers don’t want to show these gift articles made from Garhwal. Kukreti stresses that the local made souvenir is an important aspects of tourism development as brand ambassador for that tourist place.
The style is in first person and the author tells his memory of visiting Rishikesh as a tourist. In fact, this article is based on the author’s own real experience of Rishikesh tour. The satirist attacks on his own community those are not interested in acquiring job for making articles for millions of tourists.

Sharmnak Arakshan: Satire discussing alternate to Reservation System in India
Critical review of Garhwali satirical prose- 95
‘Sharmnak Arakshan (Garh Aina, 12/8/1989)   Garhwali Satire Prose by satirist Bhishma Kukreti -47 (A review)
                            Review by Bhishma Kukreti

In the article ‘Sharmnak Arakshan ‘, Kukreti states that the so called scheduled caste class of Garhwal are not Harijan as of other parts of India. However, the so called scheduled caste of Garhwal is in fact craftsmen. Kukreti discusses that the simple reservation system to Shilpkar of Garhwal will make them peon or clerks only. Kukreti emphasizes on enhancing economical position of Garhwali craftsmen by providing them latest type of tools, factories (Ansal) and infrastructure that these craftsmen produce crafts for ultra premium consumers. Kukreti believes that money power of Shilpkar will make them equal to upper caste. Kukreti believes that self esteem of Shilpkar is equally important for Shilpkar’s development.
Since the subject of reservation is always serious and very sensitive, Kukreti uses less humor and avoids ridiculing principles those are suggested to wipe our caste system in India.
