I have been reading emails on this subject, and it is time to react.
1. I want to ask, what is uttarakhandi and what is anti-uttarakhandi organisations. Define please. I would love to have a list for my knowledge.
2. All those who are ignorant of the the cultural development that has taken place since 1993 of the SPIC MACAY's days, need not to comment on the people involved in establishing REACH that holds Virasat, every year, despite of not geeting desired grant from the and now Govt. of Uttarakhand.
3. I am commenting because as a senior journalist i had been witness to SPIC MACAY and REACH's efforts, since 1993, this is the year when i landed in my home town, permanently.
4. I dis-respect all those members who do not know the facts and figures and start sending sensitive emails.
5. Why is the noise of joining hads to fight against anti uttarakhandi people? Are all those not anti uttarakhandi who sit in comforts of their office and over drawing room gossip try to tarnish the image of any organisation.
6. Yes, the goof up regarding Mr. Narendra Singh Negi was not a deliberate act, it has deeper roots, that can not be posted on email. So, have guts and talk to organisers, if you have any. They are on the web.
By the way, hate mails are to be condemned. If any one of you guys have questions, you could ask me over the mobile. I would love to answer unbiased.

I would like to highlight some points about counter part written by Mr. Dhasmana:

1. Uttarakandhis are those who love uttarakhand and who have respect among uttarakhandi peoples and cultures. VIRASAT is organization known to very few peoples in and out of Uttarkhand but Mr. Narendra singh Negi is well known in India and abroad uttarakhandis. VIRAST just got established at 1993 but Mr. Negi is serving the uttarakhand from last more than 40 years. He has written songs on every feeling of UK and even a small kid knows him. People call them as “UTTARAKHAND SWAR SAMRAT AND UTTARAKHAND GAURAV”, and if any organization cannot respect such a great personality, then they must be deserved to call anti-uttarakhandi. People already shown their rage when the incident happened two years back.

 

2- I really appreciate the cultural development promoting by them. But if they cannot respect such living legend then there is no use of promoting the Asia ’s biggest Show just for the name sake. I also want to put one more point about the fund – that UK govt. fairly disclose the sponsorship figures and when they are doing it in such a big scale that means they are getting huge amount (either from govt. or ONGC or other firms)

 

 

3. Again am appreciating their efforts, but as you are journalist you must be aware about fact that, the local media and people are not all happy with, behave they treat Uttrakhandi artists.

 

 

4. I have raised the issue after I came to know about the facts and figures.

 

5. The noise of joining hands is simply because to get the self respect of uttarakhandi people and culture. We are not at all against any group, people and organization.

 

6. I believe that this is one of the most shameful things ever happened to Uttarakhand. Although it’s been two years or more than but the fact remains the same, and that doesn’t mean we should keep our mouth shut.

Just I want to ask one simple question that organization running in uttrakhand and there are so many peoples who are the part of culture, theaters, folk and film industry like Himani shivpuri, Girda, Shekhar Pathak, Narendra singh Negi, Sudhir Pandey. Why their involvement has not been taken, any of these……..? We are in full support of any organization in uttarakhand if they respect every people and culture.

Late Badri Dutt Panday, Paryag Joshi, Shiv Parsad Dabral Charan, Yamuna  Vaisnav, Govind Chaatak, Shivaani, Himanshu Joshi, Dr. Shiva Nand Nautiyal, Rajendra Dhasmana, Shailesh Matiyaani  all have preserved our virasat in their work.   Now a days Dr. D.R. Purohit at H.N.B. Garhwal University  is doing a great work to preserve  our  cultural heritage.   All these people should get the due respect.

Iam too surprised with the reactions of many of the members, I think the issue here is about insulting a core heart of our state, which is surely erroneous.

Negiji is known to be an excellent folk singer is a truth, and is in the hearts of each and every uttarakhandi world wide, the one who has also bring-out the culture of uttarakhand from his songs  and tell me very honestly, is it fair to insult him the way they did...No social organisation would do that.

Though the incident happened quite a few years back but have hurt the sentiment’s of many uttarakhandi’s and has a bad impact on most of us.

What they did was an awful act, which shouldn’t have been tolerated...

Kehne ke liye there motto is to bring out our culture and are engaged in the task of generating awareness of our arts, traditions and cultural practices at the grass-root level in the countryside..and on the other part they are insulting the one who has contributed a lot to us….negiji owes us for bringing out our culture…today if am able to share our culture with my friends who comeout from other religion is just through the means of Negiji’s song…. And am so very close to him and I cannot take things against him, sorry!!!

My Dear Brothers

What Mr. Negi did was right. Singing on popular subjects is very much part of our  Uttarakhand Ballad Tradition. Following the tradition is the duty of an Artist.

It is politicians who are totally different species.  Can anybody say that politics is not a popular subject in Uttarkhand.

Narendra Singh Negi started as a folk singer ,but with time got entagled into politics due to his personal attacks as in nauchami narayan .
Now the wheel has turned full circle ,the different set of politicians which took advantage of his tirade against NDT are now showing him his place .
Why are you all worried ,tell him to write and compose another CD on Khanduri or Pokhariyal and expose them.
 
This is bound to happen if some sportsperson, artist,yoga teacher ,scientist will stop concentrating on his talent and meddling in politics.
 
As concerns REACH ,not sure how it matters to NSN's popularity.

See if the same orgnization were in Mumbai, Bihar or in south Indian states, people would never let them function without involving the top most people from their respective state in the Organization.

The people of Uttarakhand are simple and nobody has vehemently raised finger on Virasat over the Uttarakhandi involvement issue.

It is the high time we want to make them realized that they must respect Uttarakhandi artiest and involve maximum people in this Group.

If it is done then "All the best wishes from Merapahda to Virasat for the upcoming function"
