we are not against "any organization any people", but VIRASAT should take more numbers of senior uttarakhandi people in decision making and core team. As well as they should give prime time for uttarakhandi shows and more stalls for uttarakhandi people to promote uttarakhandi food and craft, better treatment to uttarakhandi artist as they are providing to other artists.

Just I want to ask one simple question that organization running in uttrakhand and there are so many peoples who are the part of culture, theaters, folk and film industry like Himani shivpuri, Girda, Shekhar Pathak, Narendra singh Negi, Sudhir Pandey. Why their involvement has not been taken, any of these..? We are in full support of any organization in uttarakhand if they respect every people and culture.


Negiji is known to be an excellent folk singer is a truth, and is in the hearts of each and every uttarakhandi world wide, the one who has also bring-out the culture of uttarakhand from his songs  and tell me very honestly, is it fair to insult him the way they did...No social organization would do that.

Though the incident happened quite a few years back but have hurt the sentiment  of many uttarakhandis and has a bad impact on most of us.
What they did was an awful act, which shouldn't have been tolerated...
 Kehne ke liye there motto is to bring out our culture and are engaged in the task of generating awareness of our arts, traditions and cultural practices at the grass-root level in the countryside. .and on the other part they are insulting the one who has contributed a lot to us….negiji owes us for bringing out our culture today if am able to share our culture with my friends who come-out from other religion is just through the means of Negiji,s  song. And am so very close to him and I cannot take things against him, sorry!!! .
He is the Proud of Uttarakhand .

Yes ..this is what we want to say to Virsat and they should implement this in their upcoming programme.

The organization should not function under political people. There may be politician in the group but Group should not anything against person of community which is politically motivated.

From last 1 week i am going through this thread.
Discussion is going good as several people are expressing their views on this subject.
Its true that Narendra Singh Negi Jee is music legend of uttarakhand. He has highlighted UTTARAKHAND on world map through his songs.
I dont know much about VIRASAT Organisation. Instead i have heard this name first time. I dont know about their mission and vision. I dont know whether they are working under political pressure or not.

But 1 thing i can say if they are DISRESPECTING uttarakhand legends then surely they are not "Uttarakhand Hiteshi" Organisation. I dont know reason of this DISRESPECT. But before coming to any final conclusion i.e. Reffering VIRASAT as ANTI Uttarakhand Organisation, i am waiting for other side of story.

On a lighter note: May be they have different technique/approach for welfare of uttarakhand. NOM.

This is what has been mentioned in the front page of Virasat web portal. I was incessantly monitoring various annotations posted on this forum for last 2 weeks. Alike other senior members of this forum I feel a strong need for REACH and VIRASAT to get in a steady touch with the artists of Uttarakhand when the art is about the folk. There can be no other person in a family to talk about their heritage, their legacy than the guardians of the family as they know it more and better than anyone else. Similar concept applies when it comes to perform art about a culture which showcases a strong message to other folks. Envisage the movie is about people living in slums (slumdog Millionaire)  and Danny Bowle gives chance to Americans play the guys living there, being host to Kaun banega Crorepati and a policeman enquiring with Indian males. This would be unerringly analogous to what has been done with the artists of Uttarakhand in Uttarakhand.
Though we are living in a multi-ethnic 21st technical century, human scenery is bound to have bond with their roots, culture and heritage. Narendra Singh Negi Ji and others have entertained us and formalized the music of Uttarakhand. Any cultural organization should not be so unprofessional to forget the basics of a culture and canceling negi Ji’s show at the last minute without any prior insinuation giving a bad call to such programs. I strongly condemn such acts and hope the organization realizes its mistakes and learns to be more professional. I wish the virasat of Uttarakhand be preserved in safe hands and be globalized by responsible organizations or else the counterbalance of modernity might not make a true vigilance to a citizen of dream land.

Yes.. we want that Virasat become professional and work towards promoting the Cultural of UK without any political pressure etc whatsoever.

Dear Shri Dhasmanaji,
This issue seems to be full of political overtunes. I neither hold brief for Virasat or for that matter for Mr N. S. Negri . Mr Negi himself does not seem to be very upset about it . There can be no dispute with the fact that in a platform like this, people who have contributed for the development of the local culture and heritage should be given due respect.
I am however amused by your suggestion that you can say on phone what you can not put in the mail. Sounds politically correct position. One should have suuficient courage to call a spade a spade .
