उत्तराखंड देवी देवताओ, ऋषि मुनियों को तपो भूमि रही है! यह भूमि जहाँ पग पग पर मंदिर है ! यहाँ पूरे वर्ष अलग -२ स्थानों के मेले लगते रहते है!
अक्सर हमे लोग उत्तराखंड में लगने लगने वाले मेले और यहाँ मनाये जाने वाले त्योहारों के तिथियों के बारे में लोग जानकारी पूछते रहते है !

मेले और त्यौहार लगने की प्रष्टिभूमि :
Nanda Devi Rajjaat is organized once in 12 years in the region around Nanda Devi Mountain and its sanctuary in Uttaranchal. The jaat starts from Nauti and goes up to the heights of Roopkund and Homkund with a four horned sheep.
The idol of Goddess Nanda Devi are taken in a procession accompanied by barefooted devotees. Those participating in the jaat observe certain religious customs during the period.

Surkhanda Devi Fair is a prominent fair celebrated at the famous Surkhanda Devi Temple, situated about 40 km from Mussoorie, in Tehri Garhwal District of Uttaranchal. This annual fair falls in the Ganga Dussehra day (May-June). On the day of fair, special pujas are offered to the goddess. Dance and folk music organized as part of the fair is the major point of attraction.

Being a religious fair, it attracts a large number of devotees. A sizable number of goats and buffaloes are sacrificed to appease the goddess. Apart from the religious rites, there is the usual enjoyment associated with fairs.

स्थान : Kamleshwar Temple at Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand
मेले / त्यौहार लगने की तिथि : This fair is celebrated during Vaikunta Chaturdashi, which falls in the Hindu month of Kartik (October-November).

As in most fairs, this fair also has its share of fun and merry-making, apart from some rituals and customs. On the night of Vaikunta Chaturdashi, childless couples visit the temple to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva, the deity of the temple. They offer their worship to the Shiva by lighting ‘diya’ (oil lamps). It is believed that by offering worship in this manner, on the auspicious event, they will be blessed with a child. The celebrations lasts for 5 days.
