बांज व देवदार समाप्ति की ओर

रुद्रप्रयाग। ग्लोबल वार्मिग के चलते मौसम में लगातार आ रहे परिवर्तन का असर पहाड़ की वन पारिस्थितिकी पर नजर आने लगा है। पर्यावरणीय असंतुलन के चलते बांज व देवदार के वृक्षों पर विपरीत प्रभाव पड़ रह है, जबकि चीड़ के पेड़ पहले से अधिक ऊंचाई पर भी उगने लगे हैं।

समय के साथ वनों की संख्या में कमी आने के साथ ही वनों के प्रकृति में भारी परिवर्तन आया है। कम ऊंचाई पर होने वाले चीड़ अब पांच हजार फीट की ऊंचाई वाले स्थानों पर भी देखे जा रहे हैं, लेकिन पर्यावरण की दृष्टि से इनका यहां उगना भविष्य के लिए काफी खतरनाक माना जा रहा है। पहाड़ के अधिकांश जंगलों में पहले जहां बाज, बुरांश के साथ देवदार पाया जाता था, वहां अब चीड़ बड़ी तेजी से उभर रहा है।

 प्रसिद्ध पर्यावरणविद् एवं मिश्रित वन के प्रबल समर्थक जगत सिंह चौधरी 'जंगली' का कहना है कि चीड़ के वृक्ष का ऊंचाई वाले स्थानों पर होना तथा इसके चलते बांज का समाप्त होना पर्यावरण के लिए शुभ नहीं है। उनका कहना है
 कि लगातार वातावरण मे आ रहे परिवर्तन के चलते ही यह हो रहा है।
श्री जंगली कहते हैं कि कि इसे समय से रोका जाना जरूरी है, यदि ऐसा नहीं हुआ, तो आने वाले समय में बांज व देवदार जैसे बहुउपयोगी पेड़ समाप्त हो जाएंगे। उधर, प्रभागीय वनाधिकारी सुरेन्द्र मेहरा मानते हैं कि पहले की अपेक्षा निश्चित रूप से बांज व देवदार प्रजाति को अत्यधिक नुकसान पहुंच रहा है।

बालगंगा और भिलंगना रेंज के जंगल आग की चपेट में (Dainik Jagran)


घनसाली (उत्तरकाशी)। विकासखंड भिलंगना के बालगंगा तथा भिलंगना रेंज के जंगल पिछले दो सप्ताह से धू-धूकर जल रहे हैं। आग से अब तक लाखों की वन सम्पदा जलकर राख हो गई है, लेकिन वन विभाग अभी तक मूकदर्शक बना हुआ है।

प्रखंड के बालगंगा भिलंगना तथा पौखाल रेंज के जंगल इन दिनों आग की चपेट में हैं। बालगंगा रेंज जले जंगलों के आंकड़ों पर नजर डालें तो अप्रैल माह में रेंज के गोनगढ़, कांगड़, गनगर सहित 22 हेक्टेयर वन भूमि जलकर राख हो गई। जबकि बालगंगा रेंज का आधा जंगल दवानल की भेंट चढ़ गया, भिलंगना रेंज के जंगल भी भीषण आग की चपेट में है। विभागीय आंकड़ों के अनुसार अभी तक 1.75 हेक्टेयर वन संपदा जल चुकी है। यही स्थिति पौखाल रेंज के हैं। यहां भी कई दिनों से जंगल धू-धूकर जल रहे हैं। जबकि विभाग ने वनों को आग से बचाने के लए अभी तक कोई प्रयास नहीं किए गए हैं। भिलंगना रेंज के रेंज अधिकारी नरदेव सिंह कंडारी का कहना है कि विभाग आग बुझाने का प्रयास कर रहा है।

श्रीनगर। पवनखाल बाजार के पास देवलगढ़ के चीड़ के जंगल में बुधवार सांय अचानक आग लग गयी। जो बुघाणी और राइंका देवलगढ़ के मध्य रास्ते के ऊपर तेजी से फैलती गयी। चीड़ के पेड़ों से गिरे सूखे पिरूल और सूची झाड़ियों के साथ ही तेज हवाओं ने आग को फैलने में सहायता की। समाचार लिखे जाने तक वन विभाग के कर्मी घटना स्थल पर नहीं पहुंचे थे।

With forest fires still continuing in different areas across Uttarakhand, the State has lost more than 500 hectares of forestland this year to the blaze.

Though the State Forest Department has established 19 master control rooms and 1,133 crew stations in an effort to tackle the fires, it has not been able to control these effectively due to factors like increasing temperatures coupled with dry conditions in addition to perpetual staff shortage. Work boycott by the forest beat constables’ union has also hampered the efficiency of the department in tackling wildfires.

The indefinite period work boycott by forest constables under the banner of Uttaranchal Van Rakshak Sangh (UVRS) which started on Friday has created serious problems for the Forest Department especially with the forest fire season currently on. The forest constables staged sit-in protest at the department HQ in Dehradun for the sixth day on Saturday in support of their demands for promotion and salary increase. In addition to the ongoing work boycott, the UVRS also declared that it would force the closure of National Parks in Uttarakhand from April 21 if no proactive action is taken by the authorities till then.

Among the various regions hit by the scourge, areas on the outskirts of Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh have been experiencing frequent fires. On Friday, the hill near Neelkanth was engulfed in fire which threatened human settlements and a police camp in the area. The fire got dangerously close to Maun village, Neelkant Zila Panchayat parking facility and a camp of Kumbh Mela police. The Forest Department and Fire Brigade had to struggle for four hours before the blaze in Neelkanth could be brought under control.

Agriculture land bordering forest areas in the Shivalik range was also damaged by forest fires. Closer to Dehradun, crops standing in farms were destroyed in different areas with wheat crop standing on three bigha area near Shuklapur village in Premnagar area of Dehradun burnt down in the latest incident.

According to official data, forest fires damaged more than 4,000 hectares of forest land and caused the death of 10 persons in the previous year. This year, more than 500 hectares of forest land has been damaged by forest fires though no human casualties have been reported.

There is need to work like Ramesh Ji to save our forests.

June 19 (ANI): A farmer in  Uttarakhand has    converted  five hectares of barren land into  a  lush  green forest.
  Ramesh Chand Gairola of Gholtir planted diverse species of  trees like    rosewood, sal, tun, walnut, peepal and many more plants  on his land   which had turned barren after being washed by floods  in 1971.
  Ramesh  has made this forest on his own without any support  from the   government.
  Earlier, Ramesh used to do farming on his land.
  "I had five acres of land here but all my land got eroded due  to floods    in  1971. The land became barren so I  decided  to  plant trees  here.    So I planted wild trees like  Rosewood,  Sal,  Tun, Walnut,  peepal   and many more plants. But the government has  not helped  me anyhow,"   said Ramesh Chand Gairola, caretaker  of  the forest.
  Not  only  wild trees, there are many fruit trees in  the  forest like   mango, pomegranate, and gooseberry.
  The locals are extending full support to Ramesh Chand Gairola and   appreciate his efforts.
  "With this jungle people have benefited in terms of  environment.  The    locals  should help Ramesh Chand so that  the  forest  grows well.  At    the age of 72 he is working to help the  society.  The government    should award him for his efforts," said  Devi  Prasad Thapliyal, a   villager.
  Ramesh  is  also  multiplying  and  distributing  the  seeds  and   saplings of forest trees and asking others to convert  wastelands into     thick  forests.  He  has  also  adopted  driving  as   his profession.    (ANI)
