Sri M.S.Mehtaji,
I wish you and your team , Happy Diwali !
I feel that Uttarakhand channel should be start after the  complete desk and market reserch. But  first of all we all have to persue the matter  with the Govt. officials and the Chief Minister of UK,  regarding to make Film Policy and to establish a Uttarakhand film city also. I know that the matter is very important  for the development of our culture and  to enhance our Uttarakhand's economy. Because after the establishment of proper Film Industry not only our  telented youth's  will be employed but  our Uttarakhand will be famous in the world map also. When the Film Industry will be boost then simaltaniously the Tourism Industry will also be hilighted in the world map. It's a great step taken by you to associate all our community in one umbrella. I wish you good wishes for all your ventures and will support 100%.
I personally alongwith my Anamika Films Development Society ,will take  necessary  part in this regard after your final approval.

It has been over 8 yrs. Govt never thought about this issue. A draft proposal for the same has already  been submitted by Dr R K Verma since long back but no gain.

There is need to take up this issue strongly.

My dear Mehta Ji,
Once again I thank you for taking keen interest contineously in subject.
I agree with Sudarshan ji. Let us have a meeting / seminar of the genuine people interested in formation of the film industry in UK. If people feel like having a meeting in Dehradun, I am prepared to arrange the same in a Conference hall some where. Please send me a list of the people to whom you feel like inviting for the  meeting.
I will arrange Luncheon also for the attending people. But people coming to attend the meeting have to come at their own and make their own arrangements to stay. It shall not be possible to make thier arrangement to stay.
I shall invite views on the subject from our Moderators and well-wishers. Let a suggestion also come for the dates, convenient to all.
With good wishes and regards.

State Film Advisory Committee, Uttaranchal Govt.

During our Live Chat Session with Tourism & Culture Minister Shree Prakash Pant Ji on 18 Feb 09, we had raised this issue also and asked the Minister as to when Govt is going to make registered film industry. Mantri ji just replied that Govt is working on it and there was no time frame.

Regional film industry is dying: Filmmakers
« Reply #79 on: March 18, 2009, 11:23:33 AM »

Filmmaker Manoj Pangtey addresses mediapersons in Dehradun on Tuesday.

Dehradun, March 17
In the absence of clear-cut policies for the promotion of films, directors, technicians and artistes are becoming increasingly disillusioned with the state government.

Lack of initiative on part of the state government in framing a film policy is the
biggest deterrent.

“It has been eight years since the creation of the state, but except for formal announcements nothing has been done on the ground,” said Manoj Pangtey, director/producer, Parmarth Pictures.

Addressing mediapersons today, Pangtey said there is no dearth of talent in Uttarakhand, but as the government does not have a clear-cut policy, film-makers are being deprived of any sort of assistance.

“As film-making is a costly affair, several states are nurturing the regional film industry by offering subsidy and adopting proactive measures such as weekly screening of regional films. Here, we not only have to arrange our own finances, but also look for cinema halls to screen films,” said Pangtey.

He said cinema halls in the state are in a poor condition and most of them have
closed down.

“The government has failed to use the taxes collected from cinema hall owners; the money could have been utilised for the improvement of halls” Pangtey added.

Besides, regional film-makers have also not been able to penetrate a larger market as is the case with Bhojpuri Films.

“We still have not been able to find a good market for our films, mainly due to poor marketing skills. Several directors from the state have won acclaim for documentaries, but I think we need to make bilingual films in order to reach out to a wider market,” said Manju Sharma, another director associated with Parmarth Films.

Meanwhile, film-makers associated with Parmarth Pictures have recommended a Film Festival to be held on a regular basis in the state.

“This will provide young film-makers a platform to showcase low-budget films,” said Hari Datt Bhatt, chief advisor, Parmarth Pictures. He also suggested that a film institute should be set up in the state.
