Editing is very important aspect of post film production. Editor plays a dynamic role in film making. The film editor works with unprocessed film footage, selecting the shots-scenes and then combining the shots into sequences for creating finished film. The job of editor is an art, using technology and assembling shots logically. The editor works creatively with images, reimages, story, dialogues, music, visuals, performances of actors. The words and works –editor’s cuts, director’s cuts, final cut, montages, and montage sequences are very common in editing.
Initially there was no editing facility in Dehradun the film capital of Uttarakhand. Film makers had to come to Mumbai. However, after digitalization the editing started in Dehradun. There were editors of video films for marriage procession video shooting and they helped Garhwali- Kumauni film industry. However, after Mohit Kumar entering into editorial scene the professionalism took over unprofessionalism attitude in Garhwali-Kumauni film editing works.
Mohit Kumar belongs to village Shirodi of Nainital . However, but the most prolific and professionally qualified Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) film editor Mohit Kumar was born in Paudi on 19/11/1975. After completion graduation, the most prolific and professionally qualified Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) film Editor Mohit Kumar took courses on animation and film editing. Since, there was not much scope in film animation, Mohit paid attention on film editing.
The most prolific and professionally qualified Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) film editor Mohit Kumar is so perfect that every second Garhwali-Kumauni film is offered to Mohit for editing.
The most prolific and professionally qualified Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) film editor Mohit Kumar is also credited to start dubbing in Garhwali-Kumauni film. The dubbing was first initiated in film ‘ Byau directed  by Hemant Sharma. The most prolific and professionally qualified Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) film editor Mohit Kumar took the dubbing technology with ease and his first dubbing work started from ‘Dagdya’ film.
When was asked about the financial condition of Kumauni Garhwali film industry, the most prolific and professionally qualified Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) film editor Mohit Kumar sadly state that it is very poor as the  Garhwali-Kumauni film producers don’t get their money back. When the producers don’t get money back the Shaukiya (just for hobby) producers produce ‘Uyyad’ films.
The most prolific and professionally qualified Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) film editor Mohit Kumar informed that usually by March many films or albums producers go for shooting tp Pahad but this year till date he did not get any information about launch or shooting of new Garhwali-Kumauni film.
His views are that only society can protect the diminishing industry.
Kumauni-Garhwali film industry is indebted to the most prolific and professionally qualified Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) film editor Mohit Kumar for his professionalism and hard work for fourteen hours per day.

Many critics state that there is shortage of knowledgeable technicians in Garhwali and Kumauni filmdom (Hillywood). However, it is not so. There are well conversant film-creative in Kumauni-Garhwali filmdom (Hillywood) as Rajendra Chauhan who provided music for at least 5000 songs (Hindi, Bhojpuri, Ladakhi, Awadhi, Haryanvi, Himachali, Kumauni and Garhwali).
Rajendra’s forefathers settled in Kotdwara from Chakotiya, Masi, Almora, Kumaun long back. Born on 28/1/1967 at Kotdwara, Garhwal, Rajendra had attraction for music and songs. In his student life, Rajendra Chauhan used to participate in cultural programs regularly. After finishing his studies, Rajendra Chauhan came to Delhi and joined ‘T Series’ where Rajendra got  opportunities providing music for more than 5000 songs in various languages music albums or audio cassettes.
Rajendra Chauhan provided music for Garhwali VCD films as ‘Bwari to ini (1998, director- B.s Negi); Satmanglya (1999, directed by Mahavir Negi); Bhagwani Beti (directed by Subhash sajwan, 2003) and Pativrta Rami (directed by Santosh Khetwal, 2010).
Chauhan provided music in tens of Garhwali and Kumauni music albums. Very soon, Chauhan will release his own production music album ‘Vasanti’.
Rajendra Chauhan is worried about worsening situation for Garhwali-Kumauni (Hillywood) films and music albums that the producers don’t get return in time or nor get return at all. Chauhan states that in long past, fifty music Garhwali-Kumauni (Hillywood) albums were being released every month and now, he does not get news of new release. However, Chauhan is optimistic that Garhwali-Kumauni (Hillywood) film creative will find the ways in nearest future and Garhwali-Kumauni (Hillywood) film industry will re-bloom.

Vinod Balodi: First Leading Male Character of First Garhwali Feature Film

Review of Development of Garhwali-Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) Films, Music Albums, Documentary films -22
                                                Bhishma Kukreti
[Notes on first leading male character of first regional language feature film; Leading Male Character of First Garhwali Feature Film; Leading Male Character of First Uttarakhandi Feature Film; first leading male character of first Mid Himalayan regional language feature film; first leading male character of first Himalayan regional language feature film; first leading male character of first North Indian regional language feature film; first leading male character of first Indian regional language feature film; first leading male character of first Asian regional language feature film; first leading male character of first Oriental regional language feature film]

Much is talked about ‘Jagwal’ the first Garhwali feature film released in 1983. However, less is known to public about the character artists of ‘Jagwal’ baring Parashar Gaud.
There were two male leading characters in ‘Jagwal the first Garhwali movie played by Parashar Gaur and Vinod Balodi. Vinod Balodi played the young Doctor Ajay in ‘Jagwal’ the first regional Mid Himalayan feature film. Ajay plays role of doctor who helps Prashar Gaur’s character in first Uttarakhandi feature film.
Vinod Balodi belongs to Manjeli (Banelsyun, Pauri Garhwal) born in Mumbai on 20/71969. Vinod was active in Garhwali and Hindi theatre in his pre graduation time and in Wilson College. Vinod Balodi was still active in Hindi theatre in Mumbai.
Vinod remembers that filming of Jagwal was exciting, happy experience and with some pain too. Local people provided their best cooperation in shooting of ‘Jagwal’ a historical first feature film of Garhwal, Kumaun and Himachal Himalayan region. The talk with Vinod reveals that the first Garhwali film crew was expecting no infrastructure for shooting in Buvakahl, Pauri and Shringar regions of Garhwal. However, there were no faculties available at that time for good staying, properties, transportation and even torch-batteries in the cited area.
Since, Vinod understood from first experience with Garhwali feature film that commercially an artist can’t survive on Garhwali filmdom he choose government service and was also involve in theatre in Mumbai.
Vinod is still ambitious to do performance in other film.
Vinod Balodi will always be remembered as leading male character of first Garhwali feature film ‘Jagwal’ along with another leading male character Parashar Gaur.
