You dont have to worry by seeing the files.
hiberfil.sys is a file which keeps Hibernation profile of your computer and pagefile.sys is a paging file which keeps track of your virtual memory.
You can delete both the files but deleing paging file is not recommended as it helps in taking extra load on your RAM.
Regarding hiberfil.sys
1. Open the Windows Control Panel
2. Double-click Power Options
3. Click the Hibernate tab, de-select the 'Enable hibernate support' check box, and then click Apply.
4. Restart your computer and hiberfil.sys should be automatically deleted (if it is not deleted automatically simply delete it )
If you change your mind in the future and would like to use hibernation, go back to the Hibernate tab as described in the first three steps and check the box 'enable hibernation'.
Pagefile.sys can be deleted if you do not keep any virrtual memory.
You can also try
Stat--> Run --> msconfig --> Go to startup and deselect the program which yo dont require to use at startup.
restart your computer.
Its always better to keep a safe backup of your computer. Follow this for any eventuality.
Dear sir,
My problem is still there..
I have noticed one uncommon thing... There are 2 files in my C Drive hiberfil.sys (1GB) & pagefile.sys(1.5GB) these are not movable and not-deletable (It shows files are in use - always). Due to these files I am not able to defragment C drive. I have updated my anti-virus and scanned all drives.
I fear one day my laptop could not boot and I may loose the data...Please suggest me the next step?
