   Symbolism in Bajuband Poems,  or  Folk Love Poems of Garhwal Uttarakhand

  Use of symbols in primitive poems is common in every primitive literature and found commonly all  the region of world.  As Nikifor Robovski describes on, “Macedonian folkloristic themes-Mythological characters in Macedonian demonological folk songs” that the  symbols in Macedonian folk poems were not limited . He argued that symbols provided the field for creators to create the poems (folkloristic ) according to their freedom and thoughts. According to Nikifor , the common symbols in Macedonian folk literature are-some phenomena, flowers, trees, birds, torrents, water springs, fountains full of fresh and cold water, mists, winds, etc. taken from Nature. Robovski describes that  the symbols have various meanings as, “ Youth, Old Age, Good Health, Love, Beauty, Good Luck, Happiness, Nostalgia, and of many other notions.”
    Dr Shiva Nand Nautiyal and Malchand Ramola  provided many examples of use of symbols in the Bajuband song and Bajuban dpoetries of Garhwal respectively.
 Usually, the creators use symbols of first stanza, though this stanza does not have any connection with the min poem but the symbols creat an atmosphere of nature etc as
Laguli ka mod
Hisar ki Gondi
Hariya jau ka kees

Imagery in Folk Love Songs of Garhwal, Himalayas and Miscellaneous Bajuband Poems

  Using imagery sentences is universally a tendency of human beings . Imagery is used in folk songs, folk poems in each languages and by each area from the initiation of  poetry creation by human beings .  Uses of imagery craftsmanship in folk songs is there in Latvian, France, Russian and all over world
 
 The folk songs of Garhwal, Himalayans are not exceptions in using imagery style . Capila  (2002)described many examples of uses of imagery in folk songs of Garhwal in her well researched and reviewed book ‘Images of Women in Folk Songs of Garhwal Himalayas’
  As far as Bajuband Kavya or Bajuband folk songs of Garhwal , Himalayas are concerned, Malchand Ramola described the uses of  imagery in Bajuband folk poems of Garhwal Himalayas in details. Same way Dr Shivanand Nautiyal also portrays the uses of imagery in Bajuband Kavya . Dr Nautiyal explains that though uses of imagery is limited but very effective as found in the following poems
1- Gangaji ko thando pani chhamotyon  peejaa
   Jyun jyun thandoo pani tyun tyun jada tees
2-booni jalo patho, kai anadi ko hath lage harmonium ko bajo
  Dalee twai ni laan , parosanee mero jumma
 The creator take images for uses in folk songs from the daily life and the poem becomes effective.
