Nishtha Pharasi has made the most of her two first class women's cricket matches[/color]DEHRADUN, 29 Oct: Nishtha Pharasi has made the most of her two first class women's cricket matches, which she played recently. She cracked 109 runs against Rajasthan in a one day match to prove her talent at the national level.
Nishtha Pharasi is a BSc first year student of the local DAV (PG) College. She was recently selected to represent the UP women's senior side. Playing her debut match, she scored 23 against MP. After making a decent debut, this young girl from the Doon Valley cracked a splendid century against Rajasthan.
The credit for grooming Nishtha as a cricketer goes to coach Bhupendra Singh 'Bari.' Praising her coach, she says, "I have learned cricket right from the beginning from Bari Sir."
Some five years ago, the parents of Nishtha Pharashi approached cricket coach Bhupendra Bari to train their daughter. She began her cricket practice under Bari and today she is in the senior UP side.
On the selection of his trainee, Bhupendra Bari says, "She did all the hard work and deserved to get selected in the side. Her success will inspire other girls to excel."
Nishtha did her schooling from the Central School (Hathibarkala 2). On her early days as a cricketer she says, "When I started I was the lone girl to opt for cricket. But, now, cricket is gaining greater popularity among girls."
Nishtha is preparing for the UP versus Railways match to be played in Dehradun next month. She has also been named as the captain of the under 19 girls team of UP. The under 19 game is slated to take place from 12 November in Kanpur.
