There are several stars from Uttarkahand who have made Uttarakhand proud by skill. Though, it is fact that most of them have the paternal relation with the state. But when it comes the paternal relation of these personality with Uttarkahand, a statehood feeling comes in the mind UK’s people.

Today, we are going to introduce one of the youngest Chess Star of World. Master Parimarjan Negi.

Parimarjan Negi

Parimarjan Negi (b. 9 February 1993) is a 15-year-old chess prodigy from India. In July 2005, he earned his third and final International Master norm at the Sort International open chess tournament in Sort, Spain. On 1 July 2006, at the age of 13 years, 4 months, and 22 days, he became the second youngest International Grandmaster ever, second only to Sergey Karjakin, when he earned his third and final GM norm at the Chelyabinsk Region Superfinal Championship at Satka in Russia. His FIDE rating as of July 2008 is 1529 [1].

On 6 January 2006 he received his second GM norm at the Hastings Chess Congress where he scored 6/10, a performance of 2568. Negi finished 16th when he was 12 years 10 months and 29 days old.

Negi became the youngest Grandmaster in India and second youngest in the history of the game on 1 July, 2006 by drawing with Russian Grandmaster Ruslan Sherbakov and finished with six points from nine rounds of the Chelyabinsk Region Superfinal chess tournament in Satka.

Negi replaces Pentala Harikrishna as the country's youngest ever GM

Tournament Victories

Negi won the strong Philadelphia International Open Tournament in June 2008 with a score of 7/9, and was undefeated [2].

Parimarjan stays ahead









NEW DELHI: Former Asian junior champion S. Arun Prasad played a brilliant endgame for a draw against leader Parimarjan Negi and then defeated M.R. Venkatesh to stay in the second spot after seven rounds of the Philadelphia International chess tournament at Philadelphia on Sunday.

With two rounds to go, Parimarjan (6 points) enjoys a half-point lead. G.N. Gopal (5) drew with top seed Surya Shekhar Ganguly (4.5) to share the third spot.

Other Indians, K. Ratnakaran, Eesha Karavade (4.5 each), Abhijit Kunte, Venkatesh (4 each), R.R. Laxman, Kiran Manisha Mohanty, Aarthie Ramaswamy, Swati Ghate (3.5 each), Nisha Mohota and Sai Meera (2.5 each) followed in that order.

In the second round of the Paris International Open, young Sahaj Grover proved equal to 11th seeded Grandmaster Andrei Shchekachev (France) to reach one point.

Meanwhile, in the Sort Open tournament in Sort, Spain, Abhijeet Gupta defeated fellow Grandmaster Argentina’s Anton Kovakyov to join Bulgaria’s Aleksander Delchev in the lead at six points from seven rounds.

Parimarjan Negi born on 9th Feb 1993 in Delhi , India. He became international chess Grandmaster at the age of 13 year on 1st July,2006. Parimarjan is the second youngest grandmaster in chess history

 Parimarjan Negi Share First Prize at Kaupthing Open 2008"
 
Here is update of Kaupthing Open 2008
 
 
        Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi and Andrei Istratescu shared the First Prize of the Kaupthing Open 2008 which concluded in Luxemburg on Saturday . Tata boy Parimarjan Negi played an excellent game against Yuri Drozodovskij . Playing with white Parimarjan was quick to control the board and slowly captured 
all the important squares to give a befitting defeat to his opponent to be Joint winner with Andrei Istratescu who also finished on 7 points. 
 
        On the other table Abhijeet Gupta , despite having a good position somehow blundered in the end game and lost . He came 4th in the championship. Tania Sachdev was placed 4th in the womens section after he drew her game. Only Sahej Grover could not get any prize in the tournament.
