Tigmanshu Dhulia hails from Uttaranchal which is situated in Northern Part of India.

However, he was born and brought up in Allahbad (U.P). He did his schooling from St. Joseph’s College and later went to complete his Graduation from Allahabad University where he majored in English, Economics & Modern History.

After completing his graduation he joined ‘The National School of Drama’ (New Delhi), where he specialized in Acting and passed out with a Master’s Degree in Theatre in the year 1989.

He married his childhood girlfriend Tulika, in 1989. They now have a daughter called Jaansi and have currently made Mumbai their home.

Tigmanshu has a kaleidoscope of talents ranging from being a Director and Screenwriter for both Television and Feature Films. Has also played a very competent role as a Casting Director for a number of  International films.

His directorial debut began with Television where he earned himself a great repertoire of work. Worked with all the well known Channels. He has also been a successful screenplay and dialogue writer for numerous films outside his own body of work.

Tigmanshu made his foray into feature films in 2000 with his debut film Haasil, a sensitive yet dramatic love story mounted on the canvas of University Politics in the North and its impact on the lives of Students. The film is realistic in its tones, colors, language and smell of the Hindi heartland. This was a critically acclaimed debut film and the director was tagged as promising talent in Bollywood’s Gen Next.

His second film was Charas, a thriller set against the Drug Cartels in India. The film was set in real marijuana growing regions in Himachal Pradesh, North India. His treatment of this film was stylish.

One of his chief characteristics as a writer director is that he likes to mount his films in real live locations giving his films its own distinct style and setting.

Tigmanshu can be described as a Director with a great deal of vision. His filmmaking subjects and styles are varied and he does not stick to one genre of films. Being a writer Director he believes in exploring different subjects. Moreover all his films and scripts are well researched. His added advantage of being a Casting Director adds to his dimension as a multi faceted Director which is reflected in his work.
