It was a oppourtunity to visit the Haryali Devi Temple in Rupdrapyag as well as to go along with the Doli to Haryali Danda 2 day before diwali of 2008.

I was going to Karthi Swami & in the bus a discussion was started with Mr. Mahendra Choudhary & he invited me for the yatra held once a year.

I reached Village Jasoli by 1700 hrs which is 32 km from Gochar. The village is on the road head & the temple is in middle of the village, a small & beautiful temple.

Villagers were preparing the doli for the all night yatra to Haryali Danda

People celebrate & welcome the doli as it cross the village


We trek appx 10-12 km all night & reached Haryali Danda at the time of sunrise


The doli enter the temple only when the sun rises. It is in the compound & waiting for the sunrise


As the sunrise the doli started the Parikrama & entered the temple. The sound of bells eco the whole environment with blessing  of happiness


Doli is taking parikram of the temple with the reflection of sun rays on Chokhamba peaks

Hariyali Devi

At an altitude of 1400 mts. on the way to Rudraprayag-Karnprayag, a route diverting from Neagrasu, leads to the Siddh Peeth of Hariyali Devi, 22 kms away. It is 37 kms. from the main town of Rudraprayag. Surronded by high peaks and thick forests, place is situated at an altitude of 1400 mts. The temple of Hariyali Devi has an ornate idol of the Goddess on a lion’s back She is also popular by the name of Sitala Mata in Almora, Jageshwar and Srinagar. She is depicted as a woman dressed in yellow with a child. It becomes a home to festivity a home Janmashtami and Deep a wali. During Deepwali, the idol of the Goddess is carred in a palanquin to Hariyali Kantha, the main "Siddha Peeth" of Hariyali Devi.

Road : Nearest railhead is Rishikesh, 180 kms.
Road : Hariyali Devi temple is situated on Rishikesh-Badrinath road. Rishikesh to Harriyali Devi is 180 kms. Rudraprayag to Hariyali Devi 37 kms. and Karnprayag to Hariyali Devi is 38 kms.
Accommodation

Dharamshalas and a Tourist Rest House are available in Karnprayag & Rudraprayag.

A route diverting from Nagrasu, on the main Rudraprayag Karnprayag route, leads to the Siddha Peeth of Hariyali Devi. Haryali Devi is 22 kms. from Nagrasu which in turn is 37 kms. from the main town of Rudraprayag. At an altitude of 1400 mts. this place is surrounded by peaks and thick forests.

          According to the Hindu mythology, when Mahamaya was conceived as the seventh issue of Devki, Kansa threw Mahamaya violently on the ground. Consequently, several body parts of Mahamaya got strewn all over the earth. One part - the hand - fell at Haryali Devi, Jasholi. Since then it become a revered siddh peeth. There are 58 sidd peeths in all. Ma Hariyali Devi is also worshipped as Bala Devi and Vaishnav Devi. The temple houses a regally bejewelled idol of Ma Hariyali Devi, astride a lion. During Janamastimi and Deepawali this place is visited by thousands od devotees. On these occasions, the devotees accompany the idol of  Ma Hariyali Devi, covering a distance of 7 kms. to reach Hariyali Kantha. The temple houses chiefly three idols namely, Ma Hariyali Devi, Kshatrapal and Heet Devi. From Hariyali Kantha one can see the mountain range in a semi-lunar spread. The splendor of the range is sure to fill one’s heart with awe.

नगरसु के पथ पर रूद्रप्रयाग से 16 किलोमीटर दूर।
हरियाली देवी एक सिद्ध पीठ है जो उत्तराखंड के 58 मंदिरों में से एक है। एक किंबदन्ती के अनुसार श्रीकृष्ण की माता देवकी की सातवीं पुत्री महामाया को जोरों से पृथ्वी पर कंस ने पटक दिया था। महामाया के शरीर का कई भाग भूमि पर छितरा गया था। हाथ वहीं गिरा था जहां आज हरियाली देवी का मंदिर है। यहां हरियाली देवी को पीले वस्त्रों एवं जेवरों से सज्जित एक सिंह पर सवार के रूप में दिखाया गया है। जन्माष्टमी तथा दीवाली के दौरान इस मंदिर पर हजारों-हजार भक्त आते है तथा उनमें से कई सात किलोमीटर दूर हरियाली कंठ तक देवी की डोली के साथ चलते है। 3,000 मीटर ऊंचाई पर अवस्थित हरियाली कंठ मंदिर में हरियाली देवी, क्षेत्रपाल तथा हीत देवी की प्रतिमाएं हैं। यह हरे-भरे जंगलों के बीच स्थित है जहां से वर्फ से ढ़के पर्वतों का अद्भुत दर्शन होता है।
