बिनसर वन्य जीव अभ्यारण्य में तेंदुआ पाया जाता है। इसके अलावा हिरण और चीतल तो आसानी से दिखाई दे जाते हैं। यहां २०० से भी ज्यादा तरह के पंक्षी पाये जाते हैं। इनमें मोनाल सबसे प्रसिद्ध है ये उत्तराखंड का राज्य पक्षी भी है किन्तु अब ये बहुत ही कम दिखाई देता है। अभयारण्य में एक वन्य जीव संग्रहालय भी स्थित है।बिनसर बेहद खूबसूरत हिल स्टेशन है लेकिन बिनसर को जाना जाता है यहाँ बिनसर महदेव मंदिर  बिनसर की सुन्दरता को और निखार देता है
रानीखेत से 19 किमी. की दूरी पर बिन्सर महादेव मंदिर समुद्र तल से 2480 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित इस क्षेत्र का प्रमुख मंदिर है। मंदिर चारों तरफ से घने देवदार के वनों से घिरा हुआ है।मंदिर के गर्भगृह में गणोश, हरगौरी और महेशमर्दिनी की प्रतिमा स्थापित है। महेशमर्दिनी की प्रतिमा पर मुद्रित नागरीलिपि मंदिर का संबंध नौवीं शताब्दी से जोड़ती है। इस मंदिर को राजा पीथू ने अपने पिता बिन्दू की याद में बनवाया था। इसीलिए मंदिर को बिन्देश्वर मंदिर के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।

 यहां हर साल जून के महीने में बैकुंड चतुर्दिशी के अवसर पर मेला लगता है। मेले में महिलाएं पूरी रात अपने हाथ में दिए लेकर सन्तान प्राप्ति के लिए आराधना करती हैं।

The charming Binsar hill-stations is situated in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. It is perched at an elevation of 2400 meters above the sea level, on the Jhandi Dhar hills and is one of the highest hill-station in the Kumaon region. On visiting this scenic place, tourist can feast their eyes with awe-inspiring views of the greater Himalayas, dotted with Alpine flora, ferns and varieties of wild flowers. Like most of the hill-stations in India, Binsar also has its glorious past. As per history, the hill station was the ancient capital of the Chand Raj Kings, who ruled over the region in the 7th and 3th centuries. A  revered temple dedicated to Lord Shiva witness the bygone regime of King Kalyan. Apart from this, the hill-station is best known to be the home of wild flora and faunas. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is greatly visited by wildlife lovers from different parts of the globe.

Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over 45.59km² and situated at an altitude varying 900 to 2500 metres with an average height of 2412 mts. Binsar is rich in its flora and fauna.

 Binsar is also noted for mythological warfare between King of Binsar and Golu Devata. Due to some confusion Golu Devata was beheaded and his trunk fell at Gairad Dana Golu near Binsar national Park and his head felled at Kaparkahan near Binsar. Both The places has ancinent temples of Lord Golu.

Binsar is the epitome of serenity and tranquillity with perched on top of a hill with a spectacular view of the snow capped peaks and the Almora valley. Surrounded by abundant garlands of alpine flora, ferns, hanging moss and many other species of wild flowers, tourist can feel close to heaven.

Binsar is perched on top of the Jhandi Dhar hills. This place is situated 33 km north of the Almora town in the Uttarakhand state of India.

From Binsar one can see the 300 km panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks like Kedarnath Peak, Shivling, Trisul and majestic Nanda Devi from a place called 'Zero Point'

Binsar was the summer capital of the Chand Kings, who ruled over Kumaon, from 11th to 18th centuries AD. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1988, for the conservation and protection of the shrinking broad leaf oak (Quercus) forests of the Central Himalayan region, and it inhabits 200 bird species.

Binsar has been an acclaimed hill resort of India. Binser is the trekkers paradise. There is an estate near Binsar called Khali estate,

 it was once the home of Sir Henry Ramsay, who was the commissioner of Kumaun from 1856 to 1884 and popularly called by British authors as 'King of Kumaun'. He also built his bungalow at Binsar.

 Vijay Laxmi Pandit, the sister of Jawahar Lal Nehru, also lived here. Khali is also a place at Binsar where Jamna Lal Bajaj of Gandhi-Seva-Trust started 'Shailashram'.
