NaradChatti 800km on road non stop. including an 8 hour yamunotri trek on foot. 11000 feet above sea level. In a record 1 night 1.5 days. I'm back to Patiala again
i did it finally!
in the not-so-distant past, the road to yamunotri was so unforgiving that few expected to come back and those who ventured forth, undertook it as the grand finale to a devout hindu life. Happily, the worst case scenario no longer exists and though the road leaves much to be desired, it is good enough for a holiday in the hills.
Not all roads lead to yamunotri - the two that do travel via dehradun or chamba only to catch up with each other at barkot. Pick either. As there really is not that much to choose between them. Nearly equidistant, both negotiate their way through the grubby small towns of north india before beginning the climb towards the himalayas which is when both justify their existence in terms of sheer picturesqueness.
this place is called narad chatti. (chatti="chattaan" which refers to a mountain peak.
