Dogalbitta Chatti

A picturesque hamlet, Dogalbitta Chatti is in Rudraprayag District of Uttaranchal. Some of the nearby places are Bhatwari, Damar, Giriyagaon, Kyunja and Baramwari. The nearest major town is Rudraprayag. Ukhimath, a major Hindu pilgrim site famous as the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath, is easily accessible from here. Mandakini River, an important tributary of the River Ganges, flows close to this village.

Hanuman Chatti

Hanuman Chatti (7200 feet) is a small hamlet a few miles from Gaurikund, the name "chatti" indicates that it was at one time a night stop on the pilgrim road.  Sanyasis from the Juna Akhara live there now during the pilgrim season, where they care for several small temples (the main one to Hanuman, shown here), where the passing pilgrims provide a steady stream of potential patrons (no one is here now because I took this photo in November).  The flat platform to the left of the temple is the samadhi shrine of Himalaya Giri, a sanyasi who must have lived in that spot for many seasons.  So at this site are two nodes of holiness for Hindus: a temple to a deity, and a memorial to a renunciant ascetic.

Vyas Chatti (where, Nayar river meets Ganges) and Danda ka Nagraja are the two very famous religious places of Banelsyun. Danda ka Nagraja has same importance as Sem-Mukhem ka Nagraja (Tihri Garhwal). Vyas Chatti is also famous for sage Vyas doing acts of tapah this place.

Janki Chatti - Uttarkashi

One of the most exciting tourism destinations, Janki Chatti is familiarly known for its hot water springs. It is situated some 3 kilometers away from Yamunotri. This area encompasses the last village in the region and the pilgrims are provided with moderate accommodation facilities here.

A dip in the hot water springs of Janki Chatti is an inevitable part of the Yamunotri pilgrimage and it is quite puzzling that in such a cool surroundings how the spring maintains its hotness pretty well. A bath in the hot water gives revitalizing energy and vigor to the visitors who are very tired of the rugged surroundings. Ponies and dandies can be arranged negotiating the trek for those unable to cope with trek physically.
