Gandhi Sarovar ( Chorbari Tal ) Kedarnath Uttarakhand.

The destination was Gandhi Sarovar ( lake ) at the snout of Chorbari glacier at the elevation of 14,000'. The trek is 3.5 km from Kedarnath in Uttaranchal State, India. The frozen lake in month of May with snow all round it and back drop of Kedar Dome peak of Himalayas make it a fascinating place to be in.

Gohna Lake

The formation and drainage of the famous Gohna lake in Chamoli district may be quoted as an example of the changes that go on in this region. This lake came into existence near village Gohna on 6 th august, 1893 by a huge land slide blocking the river Birehi Ganga. The lake was thrice the size of the lake at Nainital. On 26th august, 1896, one side gave away causing devastating floods. On october 10, 1910, the lake again overflowed and the resultant floods took a lot of pilgrims to death. Embankments were made in 1930 and the forest department released some trout. The lake became popular resort of the anglers. On 22 nd July, 1970, there was a cloud brust which made the lake overflow and break one side.
