काकभुसुंडी ताल



मैंने बचपन में सुना था, हमारे एक चाचा जो जोशीमठ में थे उन्होंने इस ट्रेक की यात्रा की थी!  वे बताते थे, बहुत सारे मरे हुए कौवे भी इस ताल के आस पास देख जा सकते है! कहाँ जाता है, अगर कौवों की आयु पूर्ण जाती है तो कौवे प्राण त्यागने यही आते है!

पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार - कहा जाता है वेदव्यास कौवे के मुह से उन्होंने ने महाभारत की कथा इस जगह पर सुनवाई थी !

This trek from Bhiundhar passes through thick bear-infested, forests and stretches of stinging nettles. The only shelters here are the shepherd huts. This trek also involves walking long distances across glacial moraines and over slippery rocks.
Two huge rocks on a spur of Hathi  Parvat are described as a crow(Kaga) and an Eagle (Garuda). The locals believe that the crow is animatedly conversing with Garuda on the affairs of the universe. Another version has it that a learned Brahmin of Ayodhya once incurred the wrath of the sage Lomas who lived here and was changed into the form of crow by the sage.

Raj Kharak is very big and enchanting pastureland with nice camping grounds and drinkings waters. The majestic view of Hath Ghodi and Neelkanth increases its beauty and the livestock of the Shepherd's camp make this meadow is lively world in the lap of huge Rocky Mountains. One can feel the hardness of the trek from Raj Kharak to Kagbhuhundi Lake as now the trek proceeds totally on boulders i.e. Moraine. Moraine part of hte trek is very vast and steep but colourful flowering amongst bolders provide peace of mind and moral support to nature-lover trekkers. Bistorta, Iris, Potentilla, Cyananthus, Blue poppy, Saussurea Oballata, Saussurea Gossiphyphora, Saussurea Simpsoniana, Saussurea graminifolia, and many other wild, colored beautiful flowers decorates this trek. Such type of beauty in nature is not available.
