Until recently, very few outside Uttarakhand must have heard the song Nauchhami Narayana. Or its composer and singer Narendra Singh Negi.
Not anymore. Former Andhra Pradesh governor Narain Dutt Tiwari's alleged * scandal has ensured Negi's days of oblivion are over.
The Garhwali song - a travesty on the disgraced Tiwari who was recently sacked as the governor - has caught the public fancy. It is now the rage on YouTube ever since the politician's alleged *capades became public.
The song, which was released as a music video, has registered over one-lakh views on YouTube in just a week.
Nauchhami Narayana (or naughty Narayana) was first uploaded in November 2006, five months after its release. Till the third week of December 2009, it had garnered over 70,000 hits.
But things changed after Telugu channel ABN Andhra Jyothi televised footage of the 86-year old Tiwari allegedly in a * romp with three young girls.
Between December 25, 2009, and January 1, 2010, the music video has been viewed 1,19,038 times. The political satire is set to become the first Garhwali song to touch the two-lakh mark in the weeks to come.
The Congress leader's alleged * clips, meanwhile, have registered a whopping 3 lakh hits on YouTube so far.
Sung as a Jagar (a traditional song worshipping god), Nuachhami Narayana is a commentary on the manner in which Tiwari ran his govern-ment whenever he was the chief minister of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. ' Nepotism' used to be the order of the day with people close to him getting promoted unduly.
The music video shows a Tiwari lookalike dancing with young girls. Negi also showed Tiwari's alleged relationship with a Nepali girl, Sarika Pradhan, who was given a rank equivalent to a minister of state.
During his tenure as Uttarakhand CM, Tiwari tried to ban the VCD and Negi's shows. But that failed to reign in Negi's popularity. Negi was also harassed by the Congress government and his performances would be routinely disrupted.
The VCD remains the best selling album in Uttarakhand, with over nine lakh copies sold.
It became so famous that it is even performed during public functions and weddings.

Mehta ji, the uploader of the video has deliberately added * video in the title of the song that is why it got so many hits which I think is misleading and wrong.

Dehradun, Feb 15 (PTI) Showing exemplary courage, a woman saved the life of her husband from a leopard which had strayed into their house in Bageshwar district.
Woman saves life of husband from leopard (15 Feb 2010)
The incident occurred on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday in the under-construction house of Bishnuli Devi at Talla Bilona village in the district, official sources said.
As the leopard strayed into their room, Devi and her husband Ram Prasad woke up. When Prasad raised an alarm, the wildcat attacked him and started dragging him outside the house.
On this, Devi picked up a wooden rod and attacked the beast repeatedly from behind until it left her husband, the sources said.
Later, Devi and other family members bolted the door from outside when the leopard went in another room, and informed forest officials who rushed to the spot. After a few hours, forest personnel caught the animal.

शराबियों को बिच्छू घास लगाकर दौड़ाया
सोमेश्वर (अल्मोड़ा): थाना क्षेत्र सोमेश्वर के ग्राम सिमखोला की महिलाओं ने शराब पीकर हुड़दंग करने वालों को बिच्छू घास लगाकर शराबियों तथा शराब बेचने वालों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी है। गत रोज महिला मंगल दल सदस्यों ने क्षेत्र में शराब पीकर उत्पात मचाने तथा अभद्रता दिखाने वाले दो शराबियों को बिच्छू घास लगाकर गांव में दौड़ाया। भविष्य में मदिरा सेवन नहीं करने का वायदा करने पर ही उन्हें कड़ी चेतावनी के साथ छोड़ा गया। महिलाओं तथा ग्रामीणों ने पुलिस प्रशासन से शराब बेचने वालों तथा पीकर शांति व्यवस्था को भंग करने वालों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई करने की मांग करते हुए कहा है कि अगर कार्रवाई नहीं हुई तो उन्हें मजबूरन थाने में भी प्रदर्शन करने को बाध्य होना पड़ेगा।
शराब विरोधी इस अभियान में हाथों में डंडे तथा बिच्छू घास लिए महिलाओं ने भारती देवी के नेतृत्व में सिमखोला में घूम-घूमकर शराब विरोधी नारे भी लगाए। इधर अभिभावक संघ जीआईसी दड़मियां के अध्यक्ष चंदन सिंह बिष्ट ने भी महिलाओं के द्वारा उठाए गए इस अभियान को समर्थन देते हुए पुलिस प्रशासन से इस संबंध में कार्रवाई करने की मांग की है।
