Landslide hampers movement near border

Pitthoragarh, August 5
The massive landslide at Chautuldhar that took place on July 31 on the strategically important India-China motor road near Dharchula is coming in the way not only of Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims, but also of the Army and paramilitary personnel going to their posts at the India-China-Nepal border at Darma, Beans and Chaundas.

“The debris of the July 31 landslide has not been cleared by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). This has added to our troubles as we have to carry goods of our daily needs on our shoulders for a distance of eight km from point zero,” said Dhan Singh, a resident of Syankuri village near Tawaghat.

“Strong waves of the Kali river swept away the debris dumped there for the past one year. We are allowing the movement of Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims at this point with the help of rescue workers of the ITBP under guidance of BRO engineers,” BR Arya, base camp in charge at Dharchula, said.

“According to the BRO engineers, the earlier landslide which occurred on February 6, 2009, was difficult to clear in keeping with the available infrastructure of the BRO at that point. The BRO was waiting a heavy rain to clear it.

“This debris-clearing tendency of the river can help us clear the remaining debris dumped at Chaitalkot for the past one year and clear the road not only for villagers, but defence personnel as well,” said a senior officer of the BRO.

हर साल की तरह इस साल भी बारिश ने उत्तराखण्ड के पहाड़ी इलाकों में तबाही मचायी है... परसों ही गढवाल में भूस्खलन में एक मकान दबने से एक ही परिवार के 5 लोगों की मृत्यु हुई है...

आज के अखबारों में यह दर्दनाक खबर छपी है, जिसमें एक ही परिवार के पांच लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई, उन्होंने कुछ जंगली घास धोखे से खा ली। लेकिन समय पर इलाज न मिलने के कारण उन्हें अपनी जान गंवानी पड़ी। सरकार भले ही बेहतर स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं के लाखों दावे कर ले, यदि इसी गांव में एक प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केन्द्र होता और इन्हें तत्काल प्राथमिक उपचार मिल जाता तो इनकी जान बचाई जा सकती थी।
 
 
उत्तराखण्ड के रुद्रप्रयाग जिले में विषाक्त भोजन करने से एक ही परिवार के चार लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई। छह लोग अब भी बीमार हैं जिनमें से एक बच्ची  की हालत गंभीर बनी हुई है।

पुलिस के अनुसार मृतकों में दरमौला गांव के बोनादो लाल (75), उनका बेटा दर्शन लाल (35) और पोतियां भागीरथी  व गोदावरी (6) हैं। परिवार के अन्य छह सदस्य भी बीमार हैं। बच्ची की हालत गंभीर है जिसे सरकारी अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है। शेष पांच  लोग नजदीक के एक अन्य अस्पताल में भर्ती हैं।

रूद्रप्रयाग जिले की पुलिस अधीक्षक स्वीटी अग्रवाल ने बताया कि दो बच्चों  सहित परिवार के चार सदस्यों की मौत जहरीले खाद्य पदार्थ के कारण हुई। इस परिवार ने बुधवार देर रात भोजन किया जिसके बाद उन्हें उल्टी और सिरदर्द की शिकायत हुई। सुबह तक चार लोगों ने दम तोड़ दिया।

जिला प्रशासन का दावा है कि घटना की सूचना पाते ही स्वास्थ्य विभाग की टीम मौके पर पहुंच गई। प्राप्त सूचना के अनुसार परिवार के लोगों ने बुधवार रात हरी सब्जी खाई थी जिसके बाद उनकी तबीयत बिगड़ गई थी।
