Braham Flower Binomial name Saussurea Obvallata is mostly found in Uttarakhand Hills. This is also State Flower of Uttarakhand. As per Hindu Mythology, In Hindu drawings Brahma is seen sitting on a pink flower that is resembling Lotus (Sanskrit:Kamal), which is Indian National flower. Hence people claim that the pink flower of Nelumbo nucifera to be Brahma Kamal. However there are people who claim that flower of Epiphyllum oxypetalum (Orchid Cactus), which blooms at night, to be Brahma kamal. Some North Indians claim that the flower of Saussurea Obvallata to be Brahma Kamal.

In Uttarakhand ब्रहमकमल is mostly found in Valley of Flower, Piindari, Glacier area etc etc.
Medicine use.
The plant is considered an herb in Tibetan medicine. Its name is ཤཟའ བདྭད མཤ དཤྭ (Sah-du Goh-ghoo). It has a bitter taste, promotes heat. Used to treat paralysis of the limbs and cerebral ischemia. The entire plant is used. It is endangered because people are cutting it down for their own use, it is found in the region of the Himalayas.

The Bramha Kamal is a rare lotus named after lord Brahma, the creator in Indian Mythology. It is considered very lucky to see it bloom and blooms around midnight. While it blooms the buds emit a strong fragrance. The buds start late evening after sunset and reach full bloom by midnight. This bloom only survives for that single night.
