Barechhina (Hindi: बाड़ेछीना), is a village in Almora district, Uttarakhand, 8 km from the district headquarter, the city of Almora. [1]. It lies on highway from Almora-Barechhina-Dhaulchina-Sheraghat-RaiAgar-Berinag-Chaukori-Thai-Tejam to Munsiyari

Barechhina is also noted for its two pre-historic painted rock shelters, at 'Lakhudiyar', which literally means 'one lakh caves' [2], on the banks of Suyal river, it has with paintings of animals, humans and also tectiforms done with fingers in black, red and white colours [3] [4], and engravings of trishul and Swastika [5].

These images have now become a tourist attraction as well [6] It is also the site for archaeological rock engravings being studied by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi [7].

Leopard of Rudraprayag

The Leopard of Rudraprayag is claimed to have killed over 125 people before being killed by famed big cat hunter and author Jim Corbett.





For eight years no one dared move alone at night on the road between the Hindu shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath for it passed through the leopard's territory. In fact few villagers would step out of their houses. Apparently, the leopard was so bold that it would break down doors, leap through windows, or claw through the mud- or thatch walls of huts. The British Parliament requested Corbett's aid in the autumn of 1925. In the town of Rudraprayag there is a sign-board which marks the spot where the leopard was shot. There is a fair held at Rudraprayag commemorating the killing of the leopard and people there often consider Jim Corbett to be a Sadhu.

When the Badrinath Temple opens in every Summer, a special oil is prepared by King Family of Tehri to lit the Diya at Badrinath Temple. This is called गाडू घड़ा.

श्रीनगर (पौड़ी गढ़वाल)। भगवान बदरी विशाल के अभिषेक के लिए प्रयोग में लाए जाने वाले तिलों के तेल को लेकर गाडू घड़ा शोभा यात्रा पूजा अर्चना के बाद रविवार दोपहर श्रीनगर से डिम्मर के लिए प्रस्थान कर गई।

डिम्मर से 26 अपै्रल को यह गाडू घड़ा यात्रा नृसिंह मंदिर जोशीमठ और पाण्डुकेश्वर में रुक कर 30 अपै्रल को बदरीनाथ पहुंचेगी। श्रीनगर में रविवार को बड़ी संख्या में भक्तजनों ने डालमिया धर्मशाला परिसर में आयोजित गाडू घड़ा की पूजा-अर्चना और विशेष आरती में भाग लिया। इस मौके पर डिमरी केंद्रीय धार्मिक पंचायत के अध्यक्ष दिवसपति डिमरी , सचिव बसंत बल्लभ डिमरी विनोद डिमरी, राकेश डिमरी सहित इस शोभा यात्रा में डिम्मर पंचायत के चालीस सदस्य शामिल है। श्रद्धालु हिमांशु अग्रवाल ने शोभा यात्रा के सदस्यों और भक्त जनों के लिए भंडारे का आयोजन किया।

Do you know about Chhipla Jaat ?


Chhipla Jaat

Chhipla Jaat is held once in three years on Bhado Purnmasi in Uttaranchal. It is an occasion wherein the people of the villages of Dharchula and Gorikhal regions reach Kedardwe and Najurikote to undertake a 5 day barefoot journey through thick forests and rocky lands to Chhipla Kedar near Chhiplakot.
The principal journey starts from Khela village near Twaghat and is accompanied by folk drums and metallic pipe instruments. A flag bearing pieces of red cloth collected from all the families of the villages is also carried on this journey.

The Jaat first leaves for Barmano, which is about 6 km from Khela. On the second day, the journey passes through thick oak forest crossing Bunga, Garapani, Mangthil gwar, Ganbhujdhura and reaching Brahmkund. At this point a glimpse of Chaudans region and the peaks of West Nepal can be seen. The Udiyar (cave) of Brahmkund is used for stay. It accommodates 100 people. On the third day, the route is on the back of Najurikote, which is full of buggi grass and brahmkamals. Sacred dips in the Kedardwe pond are taken and worship is done. The yatris have to go back to Brahmkund for the night stay. The total trekking distance is about 35 km for this one day. The fourth day begins after seeing Jyulital and Patojkund to reach Bhaimankund. The yatris can stay at this cave for the night. The fourth day yatra covers 16 km. The fifth day journey ends at Baram in Gori valley after worshipping at the Kanar devi temple.

क्या आप जानते हैं दूनागिरी  मंदिर के बारे मैं
दूनागिरी के बारे मैं कहना है कि जब लक्ष्मण मूर्छित हुए तब हनुमान द्रोन पर्वत को अपने हाथो मैं लेकर आए उस समाया एक टुकडा टूट कर नीचे गिर गया जिस कारण दूनागिरी का निर्माण हुआ आज जब भी कुमाऊँ के दूर-दूर क्षेत्र मैं जो भी विवाह करता है तो वह दूनागिरी मन्दिर का आशीर्वाद अवश्य लेता है यह द्वाराहाट से महज 14-16 किमी कि दुरी पर है इस मन्दिर का निर्माण वैष्णवी देवी के रूप मैं किया गया है यहाँ से हिमालय के भव्य रूप के दर्शन होते हैं। इन पहाडियों मैं बहुत दुर्लभ प्रकार के जड़ी बूटी की भरमार है जिस कारण यहाँ मन्दिर दर्शनार्थी एवं पर्यटक वर्ष भर आते रहते हैं। यहीं से महज कुछ किमी की दूरी पर पंदुखोली भी है कहा जाता है की वनवास का समय मैं पांडवों ने यहाँ अपना निवास बनाया था जहाँ आज भी इनके अस्तित्वा मिलते हैं। यहाँ मोटर मार्ग से पंहुचा जा सकता है।

ये उत्तराखण्ड का वर्तमान का जिमकार्बेट कहे जाने वाले प्रसिद्ध शिकारी लखपत सिंह रावत हैं, ये गैरसैंण के रहने वाले हैं और शिक्षा विभाग में नौकरी भी करते है। वर्तमान समय में उत्तराखण्ड में जब भी कोई जानवर नरभक्षी हो जाता है तो वन विभाग इन्हीं की मदद लेता है और आशा के अनुरुप ही लखपत सिंह सफल परिणाम भी देते हैं।
      अब तक श्री रावत उत्तराखण्ड में २३ आदमखोर बाघों को मार चुके हैं।

दूधतोली
दूधतोली 31,00मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। यह स्‍थान जंगल से घिरा हुआ है। यहां तक पंहुचने के लिए थालीसैन अ‍ाखिरी बस टर्मिनल है। सड़क द्वारा थालीसैन से दूधतोली की दूरी 24 किलोमीटर है। दूधतोली पौढ़ी के खूबसूरत स्‍थानों में से एक है। यह स्‍थान हिमालय के चारों ओर से घिरा हुआ है। यहां का नजारा बहुत ही आकर्षक है जो यहां आने वाले पर्यटकों को सदैव ही अपनी ओर आ‍कर्षित करता है। गढ़वाल के स्‍वतंत्रता सेनानी वीर चन्‍द्र सिंह गढ़वाली को भी यह स्‍थान काफी पसंद आया था। इसलिए उनकी यह अंन्तिम इच्‍छा थी कि उनकी मृत्‍यु के बाद उनके नाम से एक स्‍मारक यहां पर बनाया जाए। यह स्‍मारक ओक के बड़े-बड़े वृक्षों के बीच स्थित है। जिस पर बड़े-बड़े अक्षरों में 'नेवर से डाई' लिखा गया है।
