If you come to know of any illegal felling of trees in Uttarakhand please do let me know. There is such a ruckus in  Forest Department in which the IFS officers are neck deep steeped in corruption that if we the people of Uttarakhand do not fight back we will have destroyed our environment. What we have achieved is only because we have received information from people in Uttarakhand and then developed the story so that we are able to file PILs in Supreme Court of India.
1. Forest property is being destroyed. Trees are being cut and sold in the black market.
2. Wildlife poaching is still a big issue. Where have all our wildlife disappeared. You hardly see tigers in Uttarakhand. Elephants are dying at an alarming rate. Otters and riverine wildlife will get effected if every inch of the rivers in Uttarakhand are going to be idiotically exploited for power.
3. Plantations is a big scam. If the total number of trees that have been planted since the last 20 years is taken into consideration then the forest cover of Uttarakhand should have doubled. But we only see a proliferation of pine trees. Our oak forest and mixed forests are disappearing.
4. Forest land is being passed over to private bodies surreptitiously.
I can keep on writing about how the IFS are destroying our environment and forests. Their misdeeds are so alarming that we have to voice our concerns and ensure that the guilty are punished.
A friend once said," The only thing for evil to triumph is that good people do nothing".
Through this message to you I appeal to all of you to fight back to save the forests and environment of Uttarakhand. Where aver you need our help please do let me know.
And once again for your greetings for our winning the International Green Apple award. It actually is dedicated to all those civil minded people of Uttarakhand who helped us to unearth the ill deeds of the IFS in Uttarakhand.
Regards,
JP Dabral
