We are posting here information about Education  / Research & Development Institute of Uttarakhand and Centre Govt. The below information has been taken from Regional Reporter Magazine published from Sri Nagar Garhwal.

शैक्षणिक/शोध/विकास संस्थान

उत्तराखण्ड राज्य न केवल अपनी समृ(धार्मिक-सांस्कृतिक विविधता एवं प्राकृतिक खूबसूरती के लिए विश्वविखयात है, बल्कि देश के चुनिंदा शैक्षणिक रूप से अग्रणी राज्यों में भी सम्मिलित किया जाता है। इसका एक प्रमुख कारण यह है कि देश के कई नामी-गिरामी शैक्षणिक संस्थान उत्तराखंड में स्थित हैं, जो राज्य में शैक्षणिक गतिविधियों को लगातार गतिशील बनाए रखने में सहायता करते हैं। भारत में हरित क्रांति के प्रसार में अग्रणी भूमिका निभाने वाला देश का पहला कृषि विश्वविद्यालय हो अथवा एशिया में स्थापित होने वाला प्रथम इंजीनियरिंग कालेज या फिर ब्रिटिश काल में वनों के वैज्ञानिक अध्ययन हेतु स्थापित वन अनुसंधान संस्थान सभी उत्तराखण्ड की धरती पर ही स्थित हैं। वर्तमान में राज्य में स्थित कुछ प्रमुख संस्थानों का विवरण निम्नवत हैः-

१. भारतीय वन अनुसंधान संस्थान (FRI) देहरादून (ब्रिटिश काल में स्थापित)

२. इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय वन अकादमी, देहरादून

३. इंडियन मिलिट्री एकेडेमी (IMA), देहरादून

Indian Institute of Management KashipurThe Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (IIM Kashipur) is a graduate business school in Uttarakhand, India. The Indian Parliament has approved two new IIMs in the country one of which is IIM Kashipur.IIM Kashipur  is operational from 2011 in a temporary campus located at Ganna Sansthan, Bazpur Road Kashipur. Approximately 200 acres of land in the Escorts Farm area of Kashipur, Uttarakhand have been allocated by the Government of Uttarakhand for the institute's new campus. The applications for the first batch of students for 60 seats have been invited through its mentor institute IIM Lucknow. Foundation The foundation stone was laid by the HRD Minister Kapil Sibal[4] on 29 April 2011 in the presence of Dr Nishank & Shri Narayan Dutt Tiwari, meanwhile the classes for first batch would commence from 1 July 2011.

Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG)
   WIHG, established in 1968, is an autonomous research Institute of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. Previously named as the Institute of Himalayan Geology, it was renamed as the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology in memory of its founder- late Prof. D.N. Wadia. In the last 40 years the Institute, while continuously striving to unravel the geological truth related to building of the majestic Himalaya, has grown into a centre of excellence and is internationally recognised as an Institute dedicated to research in Himalayan geology with well equipped laboratories and other infrastructural facilities for undertaking advance level of research in the country. The Institute at present has on its roll 64 scientists, several research students along with administration and supporting technical staff.

 WIHG carries out basic research in Himalayan Geology and related fields which includes geodynamic evolution, mountain building processes, geoenvironment, seismotectonics and natural resources. The multi-disciplinary research activities are conducted through time-bound project modes in the following missions:
  •    Himtransects
  •    Climate-tectonic Interactions
  •    Biostratigraphy and Biodiversity-Environmental Linkage
  •    Sustaining Natural Resources
  •    Realtime Geology for Society: coping with Natural Hazards

     The Institute is also operating following field research stations in the remote areas of Himalaya:
  •    Naddi-Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh (Seismic Observatory Array)
  •    Dokriani Glacier, Uttarakhand (Glacier Station)
  •    Ghuttu, Kopardhar, Uttarakhand (Multi Parametric Geophysical Observatory)

Welcome to the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HYDROLOGY, the premier Institute in the area of hydrology and water resources in India. The Institute was established in 1978 with the main objective of undertaking, aiding, promoting and coordinating systematic and scientific work in all aspects of hydrology. The Institute has its Headquarters at Roorkee (Uttarakhand), four regional centres at Belgaum, Jammu, Kakinada and Sagar and two centres for Flood Management Studies at Guwahati and Patna. The Institute is well equipped to carry out computer, laboratory & field oriented studies.

 National Institute for the Visually Handicapped (NIVH) National Institute Of Visually Handicapped (NIVH) is located in an area of about 43 acres on Mussoorie-Dehradun Highway. It  is an autonomous body under the Ministry Of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government Of India. Institute is training centre for blind. It is also engaged in production of Braille literature, Aids and Appliances for  Visually handicapped . It was registered as a Society in 1982 under Societies Registration Act, 1860, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
 The Institute has its regional center in Chennai to provide rehabilitation services in the southern states of the country. It renders vocational training at par with NIVH. It also provides rehabilitation services to the rural-based visually handicapped persons through its Community Based Rehabilitation activities.
