देश की रक्षा में उत्तराखंड के वीर सैनिको ने हर युद्घ में वीरता और कौशलता दिखाई है और देश के लिए अपनी प्राणों की आहुति दे है ! अगर कहा जाय उत्तराखंड के सैनिको का राज्य है तो इसमें दो राय नहीं! उत्तराखंड राज्य का करीब हर परिवार के एक आदमी सेना में सेवारत है !

इस थ्रेड में हम उत्तराखंड के राज्य से विभिन्न युधो में देश की रक्षा में शहीद सैनिको के बारे में जानकारी देंगे !

Gobar Singh Negi

Gabbar Singh Negi VC (October 1893 - 1915) was a Indian soldier, and recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest Commonwealth award for gallantry "in the face of the enemy", during the First World War.

Singh was born October 1893. When he was 21 years old, and a Rifleman in the 2/39th Garhwal Rifles, Indian Army during the First World War, and was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions on 10 March 1915 at Neuve Chapelle, France:

"during an attack on the German position Rifleman Gobar Singh Negi was one of a bayonet party with bombs who entered their main trench, and was the first man to go round each traverse, driving back the enemy until they were eventually forced to surrender. He was killed during this engagement."

Rajesh Singh Adhikari

Major Rajesh Singh Adhikari, MVC was an Indian Army officer who died during the Kargil War. He was posthumously awarded the second highest Indian military honour - the Maha Vir Chakra for bravery on the battlefield.

Rajesh Singh Adhikari was brought up in Nainital, a picturesque hill station in northern India. He attended the prestigious St. Joseph's College and Kumaon University at Nainital.





Life in the Indian Army

He attended the Indian Military Academy, a premier military academy in India. After passing out of the Academy, he joined the 18th Grenadiers[Mech. Infantry] of the Indian Army.


Death
When heavy fighting broke out in the Kargil region of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir owing to planned infiltration by militants backed by the Pakistan army, the Indian Army was ordered to clear the heights of those intruders. Many tough battles took place in the region. It was one of the most significant battles, the Battle of Tololing, where Rajesh made a valiant sacrifice. He was posthumously awarded the second highest Indian Army decoration - Maha Vir Chakra for his actions in the battle
