  Governor General named Tehi King as Sudarshan Shah in Sanad ( Atchison) .  Maulram mentioned the first Thei King as Sudarshan Shah but in another poem he mentioned as Subhdarsansah (Dabral) . Minya Prem Singh mentioned Sudarshan Shah as Sukdarshansah in Guldast Tabarikh. The king engraved his name as Sukhdarshan in Court wall. There are three types of Sudarshan Shah Coins are available mentioning his names as Sudarshahshah Sudarshan and Sudarshansah. That means his two names were popuar – Sudarshan and Sukhdarshan .

  There are no authentic records for knowing the education for the princesses princes and king family members in the Garhwal capital Shrinagar. It is sure that there was system of educating King family members for Devanagari or Hindi knowledge.  Most of Garhwal Kings use to sponsor scholars and used to call poets from outsides.  Sudarshan Shah used to create Poetries in Braj language. Maularam (Garhrajvanshkavya page 63 ) states that King Sudarshan Shah knew creating couplets and used to eagerly telling his created couplets to others. Sudarshan Shah was fond of vocal music and used to sing too. That means scholars taught child Sudarshan Shah the Devnagari language, Sanskrit, Braja etc. There were musicians those taught musicto prince Sudarshan Shah.
           The painting of Ajabrai depicts Sudarshan Shah hunting lion with javelin . That shows there was arrangement for Sudarshan Shah for using weapons. The fight between prince Sudarshan Shah and his uncle Parakram Shah is evident that Sudarshan Shah was eucate for fight, war, battle , using weapons etc.  Sudarshan Shah was knowing commanding the army . Sudarshan Shah defeated soldiers sent by Parakram Shah to kill the price Sudarshan . (Dabral)

   Ajab Ram painted a portrait of prince Sudarshan Shah hunting lion with Devi Singh (Shrinagar). Painter Ajab Ram  illustrated painting with following poem-
दाता ज्ञाता सूरमा सषी मरद उदार
श्री कुंवर सुदरसनसाहजी कहै जगत औतार .
गुनिजन राषुन मैलजो निति राषो दया वीसेष
सुइकार अब कीजिये गुनी जन को गुन देष
 The above verse states that Price Sudarshan Shah was learned person, strong brave kind , manly, prince and people perceived Sudarshan as incarnate one.  Sudarshan shah used to be with good company (scholars and characters ) and used patron literary persons and creative ones.

    There was chaos in Kumaon and Garhwal from the day Sudarshan Shah took birth.  When Sudarshan Shah might be five ix years old, Gorkha attacked on Kumaun in 1790.  It is said that Harshadeva Joshi invited Gorkha for attacking on Kumaon that Mohan Chand is ousted from horn of Kumaon.
      By help of Harshadeva Joshi, Gorkha captured Almora in February 1790 by outing Kumaon ruler Mohan Singh and Lal Singh and his uncle Lal Singh.
       Gorkha planned a strategy for capturing Garhwal in 1791. Harsha Dev Joshi helped Gorkha for capturing Garhwal too. However, no Garhwali was ready for breaching his mother land as Joshi . With all odds the Garhwali people and kingdom officers were satisfied with King Pradyumana Shah.
 Gorkha used to attack with flanking strategies on Garhwal Kumaon border regions. Gorkha attacked through Bhabhar Kotdwara and reached to Langurgarh (Dwarikhal and near Gumkhal). There was fierce battle between Gorkha and Garhwali soldiers in Bhabhar and Langurgarh.  Gorkha soldiers remained stationed in Langurgarh for many months.  Sirmour King came with  army to Langurgarh. There was accord between Gorkha and Garhwal Kingdoms.  It was decided forcefully that a ambassador of Garhwal would be in Nepal and a Nepal ambassador would be in Garhwal. Garhwal Kingdom had to pay for the both.  Nepal government increased tax or Uphar amount to 9000. Nepali officers used to come for religious tour and Garhwal Kingdom used to pay the expenses. In reality,  Garhwal kingdom was spending more than Rs 25000 on Nepalese.

   Garhwal Kingdom had to spend more than Rs 25000 annually for appeasing Gorkha Kingdom. It was unbearable for economic of Garhwal kingdom. There was severe drought resulting severe famine in Garhwal in Sanvat 1852 (1795 AD). People ha to live on boiled roots, barks, leaves and stems of various plants and trees available in forests. Thousands of Garhwalis died because of famine, diseases etc. Garhwalis still call this famine as Bavani.

  Hardwick recorded ba economic conditions of people in 1796.
    Prince Sudarshan Shah had to live as common child with less of princely dresses and comforts. Three paintings of that period about prince show him in common man dress.  painting shows prince Sudarshan Shah with simple turbon, low quality Angrakha and tow jewelries’  garland hamlets .
 Sudarshan Shah spent his childhood in poverty (comparatively against other princes).

 Conspiracy by Prince Parakrama Shah against Jaikrita Shah and Pradyumna Shah

  Parakrama Shah was youngest step brother of King Jaikrit Shah Pradyumna was also brother of both. Historians do not have full details about childhood of Sudarshan Shah. By 1800 AD , Sudharshan Shah was 17-18 years old young boy.  There happened  a couple of averse incidents in Shrinagar those strengthened his character.
   Already detailed in Uttarakhand History that King Lalit Shah and his queen Dotiyali  pushed ambitions  into their sons Prayumna Shah and Parakrama Shah for becoming King.  Jaikrita Shah was eldest son (from queen Kyunthal rani) of Lalit Shah and was supposed to get the thorn. Lalit Shah made strategy for winning Kumaon for making one prince from Pradyumna and Parakrama  as Kumaon King. Jaikrita Shah sat on Gaddi in 1780 and Pradyumna became Kumaon king. Parakrama was the most ambicious prince and he created such nasty situation that King Jaikrit Shah left capital Shrinagar and died in Devpryaga  around 1785. Pradyumna Shah captured Garhwal Kingdom at Shrinagar reaching there from Kumaon. Parakrama Shah started making conspiracies against Pradyumna Shah for becoming Garhwal ruler. Parakram appointed outside army men in his private army. Many Garhwal officials were with Parakrama Shah.

   It was custom in Indi and Garhwal that Kings used to appoint outsider soldiers in their private army.  Garhwal King Pradyumna Shah had Nagarkoti soldiers in his private army in Shrinagar. Nagarkoti soldiers belonged to Himachal Pradesh. Nagarkoti Soldiers were brutal, bold and fearful image among local Garhwalis. Those Nagarkoti soldiers used to create fear among locals. Accoring to Shripur Lila, they were in 5000 in numbers but it seems the numbers escribe are exaggerating. They used to have long hair and were cause of groupism among Garhwal administration. Nagarkoti had  terror in Shrinagar.
      Once, there was disputes between strong minister Rampati Khanduri  and nagarkoti soldiers. Prince Parakrama  Shah was on the side of Ramapati. Parakrama Shah perceived Nagarkoti army as hurdle. He and Rampati exile Ngarkoti from Shrinagar.

     The terror acts by Prince Parakrama Shah increased after he ousted Nagarkoti soldiers from Shrinagar.   King Pradyumna was helpless before oppressions of Parakrama Shah. Many officials became his supporters by watching his power increase in Shrinagar. Parakrama started collecting wealth by suppressive means.
 If he knew a beautiful woman in any house, Parakrama used to kidnap or snatch her. Parakrama also started looting other’s wealth.  Parakrama took Lachhmi the keep of court artist Maularam and when Maularam resisted Parakrama snatched properties of Maularam.  Parakrama stopped Zamindari of villages gifted to him by the king. Parakrama put Maularam inti jail too.  By various means, Maularam was able to get back his wealth and Zamindari from Parakrama but could not get his keep Lachhmi back. Maularam depicts all the mischievous deeds  of Parakrama Shah in his Ganika natika (long poetry) and Garhrajvanshkavya (Dabral)

   Watching the power of Parakrama Shah, many opportunistic, unpatriotic, deceptive    ministers and officials of Garhwal Kingdom started taking side of Parakrama Shah (younger brother of King Pradyumna Shah) . Many selfish myopic persons became consulting pet men for Parakrama Shah. Sheeshram and Shivram Saklani brothers (administrators in Kingdom) became main consultants for Parakrama Shah. Saklani brothers started snatching orders of  King and handed over those  orders  to Parakrama Shah. Parakrama Shah used to tear those orders and used to regulate his own orders. Minister s as Radhaguru, Chitramani  and  Shrivilas Nautiyal took side of Parakrama Shah (1). People started calling those deceptive ministers as Kunwar Mantri or ministers of prince Parakrama Shah.  Parakrama was releasing his own orders.
     Faujdar Ramapati Dharani and his brother Dharani Dhar Khanduri  Diwan Mohan Singh  three groups of Negi became assistants of Parakrama Shah. (2)
     With the help of unpatriotic assistants, Parakrama Shah gathered his own army. Parakrama Shah gave freedom to his assistants for looting and anarchy. (2)

  Parakrama Shah Army surrounded King Palace. Parakrama was not ready for dialogues with the King.  Parakrama used to be ready killing the person telling him good about the king. The supporters of Parakrama Shah were enjoying and the supporters of King were fearful. The elites of Garhwal were feeling uneasy but due to fear of Parakrama did not have strength for speaking in open. The ministers left visiting palace that Parakrama army that was outside of palace might kill them. One day supporting ministers sent message to the King that Parakrama might kill him and ministers too. The suggested the King to keep Kingdom power with him only. The King sent message to supporting ministers for collecting armed forces and to fight with Parakrama immediately.
    Then the supporting ministers of the King started appointing force from the kingdom. The king sent letters to his sympathizers for sending solders. There was chaos everywhere as subjects knew the tussle between King and Parakrama Shah. it was civil war situation as everywhere there were king supporters and supporters of Parakrama Shah. Parakrama Shah came to know that ministers put army around their houses.  He asked those ministers about army. Those ministers said that Parakrama Shah was going against custom by occupying palace and seemed snatching Kingdom from the elder brother. The minister suggested many alternates for Parakrama Shah. Those ministers suggested Parakrama for accord with the King an get new palace and additional jagir .
     Parakrama was annoyed by their suggestions and told to the king “ The kingdom is not your own . I got kingdom by killing Jaikirti Shah. You were the king of Kumaon and I got Garhwal Kingdom by my own acts. “Parakrama Shah challenged the King Pradyumna Shah obeying his orders otherwise he would do same acts as he did with Jaikrit Shah. Parakrama Shah increased his army and put soldiers around house where King was residing. Parakrama Shah started residing in a house inside palace that King would not leave the palace easily. 
 The ministers sent message for the King to get out of palace with prince Sudarshan Shah. One day, the King took horse and started going out of palace. A spy sent message to Parakrama and   Parakrama reached there . Parakrama stopped the King going out. Pradyumna Shah I not resist and did not fight for his rights.
