                                 हरिद्वार , बिजनौर , सहारनपुर इतिहास के परिपेक्ष में आदिमयुगीन  विश्वास


                  अंध विश्वास का नाम मै सही नही ठहराता।  विश्वास जो विज्ञानिक तरीकों से सही नही ठहराए जायँ का अर्थ नही है कि ये विश्वास गलत हैं।  विपदा में मन को स्थिर करने , सकारात्मक सोच लाने याने मनोवैज्ञानिक समाधान इन मंत्रों व तंत्रों का ध्येय है।  वेदों के मंत्रों को सही ठहराना और झाड़ ताड़ को गलत ठहराना नाइंसाफी है।  यह ठीक है कि चिकत्सक की चिकत्सा होनी ही चाहिए किन्तु मानसिक चिकत्सा भी आवश्यक है।
           निर्जन -वनप्रदेशों में विचरित करने वाली कोलजाति अनदेखी प्रकृति विपदा , भूत -प्रेत , भटकती पितर आत्माओं से त्रस्त रहती थी। अनदेखे , अनसुलझे विपदाओं के निवारण हेतु कोलजाति ने कई रोचक कर्मकांडी उपाय अपनाये।
मजूमदार व पुसलकर जैसे इतिहासकार मानते हैं कि अपरिचित से डरना और उसके लिए उपचार करना जैसे घात लगाना , दाग लगाना या घात उतारना /दाग उतारना आदि मांत्रिक /तांत्रिक उपाय कोलजाति की  है।
ग्रामीण हरिद्वार , गढ़वाली -गैर गढ़वाली भाभर , बिजनौर व सहारनपुर में अभी भी नकझाड़ , निछावर जैसी मांत्रिक तांत्रिक विधाओं के जन्मदाता कोलजाति ही थी।
      ऊँची -कम ऊँची शिलाओं , शिखर , नदी , गधेरे , ताल -तल्लयों , व पेड़ों जैसे पीपल , बड़ , नीम , आम , महुआ , बबूल , बेल , गूलर , सेमल , बांस , साल व शिवालिक -हिमालयी पेड़ -पौधों से संबंधित तांत्रिक क्रियाओं, अनिष्ट निवारण , जादू टोना आदि का काल्पनिक संसार कोलजाति  देन है।
वैदिक मंत्रों में जो मनोवैज्ञानिक ढंग से अपने को तैयार करने वाले मंत्र हैं उनकी आधारशिला वास्तव में कोलजाति , मुँड़जाति , शवर जाति ने ही रखा था। आज भी बिजनौर , हरिद्वार में , सहारनपुर में तंत्र -मंत्र जीवित हैं तो यह कहा जा सकता है कि उन विधियों के प्रारम्भिक रूप को कोलजाति युग में हरिद्वार , बिजनौर , सहारनपुर में भी प्रयोग होता था।
कोलजाति के परीक्षणों ने कई पेड़ -पौधों और पृथ्वी की मिट्टी से दवाइयाँ बनाई या इन पेड़ -पौधों -मृदिका से उपचार करना सीखा और जो कालांतर में आयुर्वेद  अपनाया व इन उपचारों को विकसित किया।

                           हरिद्वार , बिजनौर , सहारनपुर इतिहास के परिपेक्ष में कोलजाति के धार्मिक विश्वास



कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति द्वारा प्रचलित कई धार्मिक , मनोवैज्ञानिक विश्वास आज भी चले आ रहे हैं और हरिद्वार , बिजनौर व सहारनपुर इन धार्मिक विश्वासों से अछूता नही है। हरिद्वार में आज भी पुरानतम शैली में भूत भगाने वाले तांत्रिक कर्मकांड क्रियाओं का संचालन गंगा तट पर देखे जा सकते हैं।
कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति ने धार्मिक पूजन में डमरू थाली से देवता नचवाना , पितरों की आत्मा नचवाना शुरू किया।
नाना प्रकार के नाग , विष्णु के दसावतार (मत्स्य , कछप , बराह , नृसिंघ , गरुड़ ) आदि का आधार कोल , मुंड , शवर जातिकी देन है। गरुड़ , मूषक , बृषभ , स्वान , शेर हाथी आदि की पूजा  आधार भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति धार्मिक विश्वास रहे हैं।
पुनर्जन्म की कल्पना  भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति ने की।
धार्मिक संस्कारों से आपदा -विपदा उपचार भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जातिकी देन हैं।

कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति अपनी सम्पदा अक्षुण रखने , सम्पदा वृद्धि , वांछित फल प्राप्ति हेतु पशु पर्क्षियों की बलि दिया करते थे। किसी शील  को चिन्हित कर देवी -देवता के लिंग  बनाकर पूजा करते थे। कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति शिला लिंग को बलि वाले पशु के रुधिर से स्नान कराते थे।  देव लिंग अथवा मूर्ति को बलि पशु के खून से अथवा सिंदूर से लाल करने की प्रथा आज भी चली आ रही है।
हरिद्वार  दक्षिण काली मंदिर में जनविरोध  के बाद भी पशु बलि दी जाती है। कालरात्रि की रात चंडी वन में पशु बलि के कई तरह तांत्रिक क्रियाये पूरी की जाती हैं।
 कई धार्मिक कर्मकांडों में गुलाल , सिंदूर , हल्दी का प्रयोग कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति द्वारा शुरू हुए कर्मकांडों के अवशेष हैं।
दैनिक जीवन व पूजा में चावलों का प्रयोग इसी जाती का आविष्कार है।
कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति द्वारा शुरू किये गए कर्मकांड की तरह आज भी मेंढे , बकरे , भैंसे , मुर्गे व अन्य पशुओं की बलि हरिद्वार ,बिजनौर व सहारनपुर में दी जाती है।

            पुराणो में संग्रहित एवं भारत , उत्तराखंड , हरिद्वार , बिजनौर व सहारनपुर में आज भी प्रचलित अनेक पुराकथाओं की कल्पनाओं का श्रेय कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति को जाता है। अंड से मनु , ब्रह्माण्ड , सृष्टि का जन्म जैसे सिद्धांत , विष्णु के नवावतार; मत्स्य -गंध , मत्स्य -गंधा स्त्री ; जल , पातळ , नागलोक , नागों को देवलोक समक्ष ले जाने वाली कई कथाओं की कल्पना का श्रेय कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति को ही जाता है (मजूमदार , पुसलकर ).
       कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति ने पेड़ -पौधों , नक्षत्रों , जंतुओं से अपनी जाति  का जन्म व इनका जाति विशेष पर अनुग्रह की भी कल्पना की और ये  कल्पनायें अभी भी लोककथाओं में भारत , उत्तराखंड , हरिद्वार , बिजनौर व सहारनपुर में जीवित हैं। 
 महाभारत में कौरवों का जन्म मांस पिंड से होना , रामायण , महाभारत की अन्य कथाएँ , धूमकारी जातक कथाओं की सर्वप्रथम कल्पना कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति ने की थी। रामायण में ककड़ी से सूर्यवंश की कल्पना , भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति की ही देन है।
 रामायण की कथा की कल्पना भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति ने शुरू की थी।  इसी तरह कृष्ण ,  व्यास , विदुर , अनार्य कोल या द्रविड़ माताओं से जन्म लेने जैसी कथाओं का श्रेय भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति को जाता है।

                                                     गंगा का महात्म्य
 गंगा का महत्व भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति ने समझा और इसी जाति ने संभवतया गंगा जी को नदी , गंगा जी को पुनीत नदी का नाम दिया।  संभवतया गंगा जी के पानी के गुणों को कोल , मुंड , शवर जातिने पहचाना और इसी पुनीत नदी माना।
भारत से कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति दक्षिण पूर्व की और चली लंका , वर्मा , श्याम , हिन्दचीन , मलाया , दक्षिण चीन  महासागरीय द्वीपों म इ पंहुची। तो भी गंगा जी के पवित्रता को नही बिसरी।
लंका  बालीद्वीप में महाबलीगंगा व दक्षिणपूर्व  एशिया के नदियों के आगे जुड़े कौंग और कियांग प्रत्यय को गंगा जी का रूपांतर माना जा सकता है।
वेदों में गंगा जी का नाम केवल एक बार आया है किन्तु महाभारत व परवर्ती साहित्य पुराणो में गंगा को महत्व दिया गया है। वेद के आर्य गंगा को नही समझ सके थे कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति  के सम्पर्क में आने के पश्चात गंगा के महत्व को समझे और तभी महाभारत में गंगा महिमा का बखान हुआ है (मजूमदार और पुसलकर ) ।
केवल गंगा ही नही भारत की अन्य नदियों का नाम भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति  दिया और विद्वानो की धारणा है कि नदी नामान्त शब्द 'दा' अथवा 'ता ' जैसे नरमदा , शारदा , केनदा, द -सान ; तिसता, प्रणिता  और इसी तरह छोटी नदियों के अंत में गाड , गड्ड , खड्ड शब्द भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति के दिए हैं (कनिंघम , आर्कियोलॉजिकल सर्वे रिपोर्ट ) ।

    संभवतया गंगाद्वार (हरिद्वार ) का महत्व भी कोल , मुंड , शवर जाति ने पहचाना होगा और कालांतर में गंगाद्वार धार्मिक स्थान में परिर्तित हुआ।

           There are records of more than 300 species and more varieties of Wild birds of Garhwal. There was no system or culture for recording wild birds in Garhwal Kingdom time. British administrators and scientists put the foundation for recording the birds of Garhwal.
 There were/ are domesticated birds and wild birds eaten in Garhwal.
As far as the edible domestic birds are concerned, they are chicken and Butakh or turkey.
A class that is Badi used to eat jungle birds and even sparrow. However, till today, there are no official records for such eating. This author is witness for Badi catching sparrow, Ghughti by nets.
The following wild birds were/ are widely eaten by Garhwalis –
Chakor
Goose
Capon
Swan
Duck
Quail
Grouse
Fowls
Pigeon
Dove
Pheasants
Woodcock
Spine
Chukar
Many animals and birds were killed for  medical uses in Garhwal.

    Hunting was very common among Garhwalis in Pal/Shah period and even in British Raj. Kings used to go for hunting as a religious ritual.
In Garhwali, ‘ Ayedi’ word is for Hunting.
The following methods were used to capture/trap/hunt/kill wild animals, birds or fishes –
1-Baiting
2-Battue /scarring
3-Beagling of rabbits but very rarely in Bhabhar
4-Beating very common
5-Blind or stand hunting
6-Calling especially birds
7-Camouaflage
8-Hunting by dogs
9-Directing animals in a particular direction
10-Flushing
11-Glueing for birds
12-Netting
13-Trapping in concealed pits
14-Running after pray and exhausting the pryas
15-Scouting
16- Shining firelight  for fish or other animals
17-Suffocating animal by smoke in its hiding burrows Shahi/Shaulu
18-Stalking
19-Tracking
20-Herbal Poisoning and that poison is not harmful to mankind.
21-Hitting Hammer on Stone under whom fishes are hiding

                                                   इतिहास विद्यार्थी ::: भीष्म कुकरेती

                    जब कोल , मुंड , शवर जातिहिमालय के वनों , शिवालिक वनों में आखेट आदि वृति से जीवन विता रही थी तो पूर्व से आसाम होती हुई मंगोल जाति ने हिमालय क्षेत्र में प्रवेश किया और पश्चिम की ओर बढ़ना प्रारम्भ किया। धीरे धीरे यह जाति कोल , मुंड , शवर जातिको जंगलों में धकेलती हई हिमालय की श्रेणियों में आसाम से स्पीति , लाहुल , लद्दाख तख फ़ैल गयी।
प्राचीन इतिहास में इस जाति को कीर , किन्नर , किम्पुरुष , आदि नामो से पुकारा गया है।  किरात  कीर जाति का दूसरा नाम चिर भी था जिससे चिरायता  चिल -आत या चिलात शब्द भी रचे गए हैं।
         हिमालय के दक्षिण में तराई में किर जाति के तिर , मीड़ व गिर रूप मिलते हैं  यह जाति थारु नाम से जानी जाती है। देहरादून भाभर /तराई में मिर अब मिहिर कहलाते हैं तो यमुना से पश्चिम की ओर  जम्मू तक गिर अब गिरत या घिरत कहलाते हैं।  गढ़वाल का भाभर , बिजनौर का भाभर , हरिद्वार का भाभर , देहरादून के भाभर में यह जाति मिलती थी। हरिद्वार के जनगणना में अब थारु जाति नही मिलती किन्तु हरिद्वार से सटे जिले देहरादून में मिलते हैं। थारु बिजनौर में निवास करते हैं। इतिहासकार मजूमदार ने थारु को मंगलवंशी कहा है।

                                   मंगोलवंशियों का भारत में आगमन

  वैदिक साहित्य में किरात व किलात दोनों शब्द मिलते हैं।
  इतिहासकारों ने मोहन जो दाड़ो , और वर्मा , मलाया , हिन्दचीन आदि के पाषाण काल खुदाई से यह अंदाज लगाया कि मंगोल जाति का आगमन भारत मे 2600 -2800 BC से पहले हो चुका था।

                                          पर्वताश्रयी
  किरात जाति का प्रसार मुख्यतया हिमालय की पहाड़ियों में हुआ। आसाम , भूटान , सिक्किम , में किरात जाति का बाहुल्य है।
वैदिक साहित्य में किरात जाति को गुफाओं में रहने वाली जाति कहा गया है।  आयुर्वेद में इस जाति के लोग वनऔषधि खोदने व इकट्ठा करने वाली जाति रूप मे उल्लेख मिलता है।  शतपथ व अन्य ब्राह्मण साहित्य में किलात का नाम प्रयोग हुआ है। कई पुराणो में किरात जाति का कई बार उल्लेख हुआ है (डा डबराल , उखण्ड का इतिहास -2 पृष्ठ 175) .

                            मुखाकृति व शारीरिक विन्यास


 चपटी मुखाकृति , चपटा माथा  ,छोटी -चिपकी नाक , दाढ़ी मूछों में कम बाल , पीला से गेंहुआ रंग , नाटा आकार किरात जाति की विशेषतायें हैं।
