Ran Bahadur Shah restarted enjoying women, wine and other entertainment in Banaras. Declaring him as a Sanyasi he did not change his life style. Prostitutes used to be his friends in his court. He was indulged in love for a prostitute. Ran Bahadur gifted that prostitute the jewels of queen by putting off jewels from his queen Raj Rajeshwari. There were always fights between husband and wife for those prostitutes.
Secretly, Raj Rajeshwari left Banaras and reached Makwanpur in November 1802.
In capital, recently a group killed minister Kirtiman and other group members. It was felt that Damodar Pande killed Kirtiman. Regent Queen Suwarnprabha and her associate Bamshah captured Damodar Pande and his two sons. Getting information, Ran Bahadur sent gift of ring and letter to Swarnprabha as token for appreciation. However, the secret opened and it was found that Kishan Shah (uncle of Ran Bahadur) killed Kirtiman. Suwarnprabha freed Damodar Pande and reappointed him chief minister and offered exile to Kishan Shah. Kishan Shah met Raj Rajeshwari in Makwanpur. Since in past, Ran Bahadur appointed Raj Rajeshwari as Regent of the Kingdom, when there was Raj Rajeshwari it was not possible for Suwarnprabha on the position of Regent. Suwarnprabha sent force to stop Raj Rajwshari coming to the capital. However, force had respect for Queen Raj Rajeshwari and they helped the queen Raj Rajeshwari in coming to Kathmandu. Raj Rajesshwari entered Nepal court with fair and feast. She was reappointed as Regent and Suwarnprabha was sent to Devpatan with monthly stipend.
Chaos in Kathmandu
Ran Bahadur was always in debt in Banaras due to his life style. Nepal government used to offer extra money for him.
In Nepal , there were many selfish groups in the court and they were always disturbing each other works. Raj Rajeshwari could not correct the situation. A group wanted Ran Bahadur to return Nepal and other group was opposing. Rajrajeshwari and Damodar Pande did not see eye to eye.
There was dissatisfaction among soldiers. Mar Singh Thapa was freed to defuse dissatisfaction in the armed forces.
It was now decided to capture Garhwal Kingdom to keep force busy and satisfied.

दास नरेश भेदके सहायक
महायुद्ध के बाद भी पर्वतीय संघ समाप्त नही हुआ था। दिवोदास द्वारा पर्वतीय नरेशों जैसे शंबर , वर्चिन की हत्या के बाद भी पर्वतीय संघ आर्यों से बदला लेने को आतुर रहा था।
पर्वतीय संघ की कमान भेद ने संभाला। भेद के कई वीर सहायक थे। उनमे से निम्न मुख्य थे -
अज - शायद यह हिमाचल की एक जाति थी और इसकी पहचान खश जाति से की जा सकती है।
यक्षु -ऋग्वेद में यक्ष शब्द का प्रयोग पूजा , बलिदान , महोत्स्व के लिए हुआ है। शायद यह जाति खश जाति की एक शाखा थी।
शिग्रु - वेदकालीन संस्कृत शब्द शिग्रु सहजन वृक्ष के लिए प्रयोग हुआ है। शिग्रु जनो का जातीय चिन्ह प्रतीक है। अनुमान है कि वेद कालीन काल में शिग्रु जाति पंजाब , सहारनपुर , हरिद्वार , गढ़वाल हरिद्वार के भाभर -तराई , बिजनौर के तराई -भाभर तक फैली थी। पृलुस्की के अनुसार यह जाति कोलवंशी थी।
भेद एक अनार्य नरेश था जो वीर , निस्वार्थी था और अपनी पर्वतीय सर्वसत्ता को बचाने का कार्य किया। इस जाति फैलाव हिमाचल व उत्तराखंड में था।
उत्तर महायुद्ध के आर्य नरेश
सुदास -आर्य नरेश देवदास पुत्र सुदास था जिसने आर्य राज्य की रक्षा की थी।
चार दिशाओं से सुदास राज्य पर आक्रमण
सुदास पर सभी सीमाओं से आक्रमण हुए थे।
तेरह आर्य राजाओं -तुर्वस , यदु , अनु , द्रह्यु , पुरू , शिम्यु , कवष , मत्स्य , पकथ , भलानस , अलिन , विषाणी , शिव ने पश्चिम दिशा से रॉबी नदी को पार कर सुदास के क्षेत्र पर आक्रमण किया।
शत्रु को फंसा देख पर्वतीय नरेश भेद ने पूर्व दिशा से सुदास पर आक्रमण कर दिया।
एक एक कर सुदास ने आक्रमणों को रोका और जीत प्राप्त की।
भेद के चंगुल से सुदास को इंद्र ने बचाया। भेद की पराजय हुई, भेद की हत्या की गयी और सुदास ने भेद राज्य को लूटा। लूट का हिस्सा ऋषियों को भी दिया गया। और अज , यक्षु ,, शिग्रु जन ने सुदास की आधीनता स्वीकार की। हिमाचल हिस्से पर आर्यों का अधिकार हो गया। अन्य आर्य जन सुदास से पिछड़ गए।

From April 1802 to March 1803, East India Company representative in Nepal Captain Nauks could not improve the commercial benefits to East India Company. He was called back to Kolkata from Nepal. Bhardar of Nepal were suspicious about East India company. Bhardars of Nepal were of opinions that East India Company would grab freedom of Nepal. In 1795, East India Company sent its representative Maulavi Abdul Kadir to Nepal who suggested that Company should have direct commercial relation with Tibet than Nepal being an intermediate.
Nauks suggested that East India Company should have rule over Kumaon (that was under Nepal) for connecting Tibet. However, Nepal did not cooperate with East India Company.

इतिहास विद्यार्थी ::: भीष्म कुकरेती

असुर /दास /अनार्य लोगों को कृष्ण वर्ण का कहा गया है। ये असुर /दास /अनार्य हिमालय के ढालों में बसते थे।
१- असुर पर्वत वासी थे जो घुमन्तु किस्म के थे।
२- असुर दुर्गों में रहते थे।
३- दास /असुर या अनार्य सम्पत्तिशाली व मायावी (छापमारी युद्ध कलावंत ) थे।
४-पर्वतीय व पर्वतीय ढालों में रहने वाले अनार्य शिश्न पूजक थे
५- इन्हे दास , असुर , राक्षश , दानव , नाग नाम दिए गएँ हैं
६- ऋग्वेद में इन्हे हराने के लिए आर्यों को देवताओं की आवश्यकता पड़ती थी।
ऋग्वेद में इन जातियों को हीं समझते थे।
७- उत्तराखंड हिमाचल व निकटवर्ती जगहों के वासी कृषक व पशुचारक थे।
८- पशु स्थाई व अस्थाई खरकों में रखे जाते थे जो हिमालय में अब भी एक संस्कृति है।
९- गाओं के अतिरिक्त शिवालिक पहाड़ियों के ढालों -भाभर /तराई में छोटे नगर भी थे
१०- दास स्वतंत्रता प्रेमी थे।
११- आयुधजीवी थे

Ran Bahadur was living in Banaras as Sanyasi but was indulged in women, wine etc. He wanted to come back Nepal. Lord Velejali informed to Nepal Kingdom on 24th January 1804 that Company is breaking its commercial treaty with Nepal. Now, Ran Bahadur would not get any pressure from Company to stay in Banaras. Damodar Pande (Prime Minister or Mulak Diwan) sent letters to his confidents in Banaras to stop Ran Bahadur there only. Ran Bahadur got those letters.
One day, without any information Ran Bahadur left Banaras for Nepal. When he reached near Kathmandu, Damodar Pande came with army there. Ran Bahadur reminded soldiers that he was King and army obeued Ran Bhadur’s orders. Ran Bahadur ordered army to capture Damodar Pande his son. Ran Bahadur ordered Damodar Pande and his elder son for Death Sentence. They were killed on the same day. Ran Bahadur became Regent of his prince. Ran Bahadur sent Rajrajeshwari in exile in Helmu. Ran Bahadur appointed Bhim Sen Thapa as his Mulakdivan or prime minister.
Worsening Economic Conditions
Before, Ran Bahadur returned to Nepal, Nepal was facing adverse Economic conditions. There was no money in treasury for salaries for soldiers. Rajrajeshwari took some steps as taking back the land donated to Brahmins and other religious purposes. By that way the salry was paid to soldiers. It was also decided to capture Garhwal Kingdom.

आर्यों से पर्वतीय असुरों ने कई युद्ध किये और वैदिक काल के सैकड़ों साल तक उनकी वीरता की गाथाएं समाज में गाती जाती रहीं थीं। अतः इनका वर्णन परवर्ती वैदिक साहित्य में आना आश्चर्य नही दिलाता।
देवासुर संग्राम
प्रजापति दक्ष का राज्य उत्तराखंड से लेकर मध्य प्रदेश तक फैला था। दक्ष राजधानी कनखल (हरिद्वार ) थी। दक्ष की तेरह कन्याओं विवाह कश्यप से हुआ था। इन कन्याओं में से - अदिति , दिति , दनु और खसा से देवता , दैत्य , दानव , यक्ष , रक्ष संतति हुए।
दानवों में सौ भाई हुए जिनमे हिरण्यक शिपु , हिरण्याक्ष वृषपर्वा अति वीर हुए है। असुरों में तेरह महाबली -व्यंश , शल्य आदि हुए। असुर -दानवों की संख्या लाखों -करोड़ों में थी।
देवता दानवो -असुरों -दैत्यों के सौतेले भाई थे। वीरता और समृद्धि में दैत्य बढ़चढ़कर थे कि के लिए इंद्र को आना पड़ता था और विष्णु को अवतार पड़ते थे।
देवासुर संग्राम हिमालय में हुआ था। जिसमे देवताओं को कई कष्ट सहने पड़े थे।
पराक्रमी व अस्त्र सश्त्रों से सुस्सज्जित थे।
असुरों में निम्न वीरों का पराक्रम प्रसिद्ध हुयें हैं -
नमुचि
शंबर
कुजम्भ
वित्र
वृषपर्वा
असुर पर्वतीय माया के विशषज्ञ थे। पर धातु से बने थे।
असुरों चरित्र वास्तव में सभ्य चरित्र वाला था।
महाभारत में गंगाद्वार (हरिद्वार , कनखल , भृगुश्रृंगी -भृगुखाल (हरिद्वार से सटा उदयपुर पट्टी , पौड़ी गढ़वाल ) वर्णन विस्तार से हुआ है। भेद की पराजय के बाद हरिद्वार , सहारनपुर , बिजनौर व उत्तराखंड में ऋषियों का पदार्पण हुआ और उन्होंने यहां कई आश्रम बनाये थे।

The average Gorkha men did not like other profession other than Army Service. Most of Gorkha man was always eager to enter into Gorkha Kingdom Army.
There was unusual rule for Army soldiers. After completing a year in Army, the soldier was retired from the Army. The soldier was called ‘Jagriya’. Jagriya could not join army for two years of completing one year in Army. This way all the citizens were supposed to be enter into army. Since, everybody was interested to join Army, the retired jagriya joined Army after two years of retirement. In this situation the retired person used to prepare himself for ne w appointment.
Soldiers were totally devoted to the King only.
Captain Knox offered following armed forces in Gorkha Kingdom in 1800-
Permanent soldiers- 40000
Gunmen---------------6000
Bow and Arrow men—3000
Sword men ---------------6000
Rocket men ---------------200
Big Guns (top) men -------50
Jagriya (were replaced in one year) used to be 13000 and Dhakriya (those were replaced in two years) used to be

इतिहास विद्यार्थी ::: भीष्म कुकरेती

जब तक सिंधु घाटी के अवशेषों का पता नही चला था तब तक यही माना जाता था कि 1500 विक्रम संवत पूर्व ही आर्यों से भारत में ऐतिहासिक युग प्रारम्भ हुआ। किन्तु सिंधु घाटी सभ्यता के अवशेष सिद्ध करते हैं कि भारत में 3500 विक्रम संवत पहले आधुनिक सभ्यता आ चुकी थी।
महाभारत , रामायण व ततपश्चात रचे गए पुराणो में पुराणो का वर्णन है। पुराण का तातपर्य इतिहास व सुनी गयी ऐतिहासिक कथाएँ होता था। वास्तव में जिस प्रकार का प्रयत्त्न वेदों की रचनाओं को सुरक्षित रखने के लिए हुए उतने प्रयत्त्न पुराणो के श्लोकों को सुरक्षित रखने हेतु न हो सका। महाभारत में एक वर्णन है जिसमे कहा गया है कि वृहस्पति नीति शास्त्र के एक लाख श्लोक समाप्त हो गए हैं याने कि श्रुति संरक्षण विधि में ये श्लोक समाप्त हो गए।
पौराणिक साहित्य में ऐतिहासिक तथ्य अवश्य हैं।
महाभारत

महाभारत की घोषणा कहती है कि ऐसी कोई कहानी नही है जो महाभारत म नही है . महाभारत में कुरुक्षेत्र एक महत्वपूर्ण घटना है। यह महायुद्ध शायद 1000 -1400 BC पूर्व हुआ होगा।
महाप्रलय की तिथि 33102 BC आंका जाता है।
आकलन से पौराणिक कालों को निम्न उपवर्गों में बांटा गया है।
प्रलय पूर्व युग - 3120 BC से पहले
प्रलय -मनु युग - 3102 -3000 BC
ययाति युग - 3000 -2750 BC
मान्धाता युग -2750 -2550 BC
परशराम युग -2550 -2350 BC
रामचन्द्र युग - 2350 -1950 BC
श्रीकृष्ण युग -1950 -1400 BC
महाभारत युद्ध - 1400 BC
परीक्षित से नन्द वंश युग -1400 -350 BC

Dr Dabral states that till date, there had been no serious study about Gorkha Rule in Kumaon. This author also vouch Dr Dabral as there is less knowledge available on Internet about Gorkha Rule and its Characteristics in Kumaon. If at all it is available the most of historians offer writings of Dr Dabral. Vasudha Pande offers appreciable account about Doti and Gorkha in different perspectives.
In Kumaon too, as per rule the Gorkha soldiers (Jagriya) used to return after completing one year. Same way, army officers were also called back after a year.

Gorkha administrators established Chauki in different places (as today patti Ka Patwari) and there used to be soldiers. The soldiers used to get salaries from the Kumaon people under the Chauki. Therefore, soldiers used to apply oppressive methods for getting ‘Bali’ (Salary).
Since, soldiers had to return Nepal after completion of a year; they used to loot the people when they were there and while returning to Nepal too.
Many cruel soldiers and officers had a notion that people become disciplined only by fear of oppressions.
Nepali Historians disagreed about the oppressive methods of Gorkha soldiers and officers.

पौराणिक आख्यानों अनुसार सृष्टि प्रारम्भ में अन्धेरा था। फिर एक अंड विशाल पैदा हुआ। अंडे से अविनाशी वीज पैदा हुआ और प्रथम मानव पैदा हुए -प्रजापालक देवगुरु ब्रह्मा।
ब्रह्मा ने गङ्गास्रोत्र के निकट हिरण्यश्रंग पर्वत पर विन्दुसरोवर में यज्ञ किया। ब्रह्मा ने आनंद व वर्णाश्रम की स्थापना की।
स्वयंभू मनु
मनु भी दैवदत्त अंडे से प्रकट हुए। मनु सरस्वती नदी किनारे विन्दुसरोवर, उत्तराखंड पर सदा स्थिर रहते हैं (भीष्मपर्व )।

वर्णाश्रम नियम सिथिल पद गए थे और स्वयंभू मनु ने उन्हें पुनर्स्थापित किये (शान्तिपर्व , महभारत ).
स्वायम्भू मनु की राजधानी सरस्वती तट पर थी
स्वरोचिष मनु
स्वायम्भू मनु की पुत्री आकृति पुत्र का नाम स्वरोचिष मनु था। इसके बाद तीसरे , चौथे , पांचवे मनु हुए। स्वायम्भू मनु द्वितीय पुत्र उत्तानपाद के तीन पुत्र हुए जिनमे ध्रुव ने विष्णु की तपस्या की।
वेन नरेश
ध्रुव पुत्र प्रचीनगर्भ का नाम चाक्षुष मनु हुआ जिसका जिक्र वेद , महाभारत व पुराणो में हुआ है।
वेन को भयानक शरीर , काला अत्याचारी बतलाया गया है।
हरिद्वार बिजनौर , सहारनपुर पर वेन अधिकार
वेन का राज्य दक्षिण हिमालय से लेकर उत्तरप्रदेश , बिहार तक था। मायापुर (हरिद्वार ) , बिजनौर , मुरादाबाद , बदायूं , बरेली। चंपारण रोहतासगढ़ के कई प्राचीन गढ़ों का संंबध राजा वेन से जोड़ा जाता ह.
राजा वेन की राजधानी मायापुर (हरिद्वार ) थी
ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि वेन कोलबंसी था। उत्तराखंड , बिजनौर पर कोलवंशी (डोम ) वंशी राजाओं का अधिकार रहा था और बिजनौर व मादीपुर पर सातवीं सदी में शूद्र नरेश का शाशन रहा है।

वेन संभवतया अंतिम अनार्य नरेश था जिसको हराकर या मारकर इस क्षेत्र आर्यों का अधिकार हुआ होगा।
