इतिहास विद्यार्थी ::: भीष्म कुकरेती

दो शताब्दियों तक परशुराम युग में सूर्यवंश की शक्ति क्षीण हो गयी। पुरुवंशियों में भी कोई बलशाली राजा नही हुआ। इस युग में सुर्यवँशियों में सगर व पुरुवसंहियों में दुष्यंत अधिक प्रसिद्ध राजा हुए।
कार्तवीर्य अर्जुन अथवा सहस्त्रार्जुन

हैहय वंश में कृतवीर्य का पुत्र कार्तवीर्य अर्जुन , सहस्त्रवाहु अर्जुन या सहस्त्रार्जुन एक वीर , प्रसिद्ध , नारियों का संरक्षक , दानी , शक्तिशाली , पशुपालक राजा हुआ . उसका राज्य सौराष्ट्र , मालवा , मध्यदेश , मध्यप्रदेश , राजस्थान , पंजाब , नर्मदा क्षेत्र तक फैला था। जिसने लंका नरेश रावण को भी कैद में रखा था। उसकी राजधानी महिष्मतीनगर में थी। उसका राज्य उत्तरपश्चमी सीमान्त तक फैली थी व उसकी सेना में शक , यवन , कम्बोज , पारद , पल्हवा सैनिक भी थे।

परशुराम

जिन दिनों सहस्त्रार्जुन उत्तरभारत में अपना राज्य फैला रहा था , भृगुवंशियों का उत्पाटन कर रहा था उस समय भृगु वंश में जमदग्नि का पराक्रमी पुत्र , तपस्वी , विष्णु अवतार परशुराम पैदा हुआ। वैशाली , विदेह, काशी , कान्यकुब्ज , व अयोध्या नरेशों को संगठित कर परशुराम ने सहस्त्रार्जुन को हराया और उसे मार डाला। सहस्त्रार्जुन के सैनिकों ने परशुराम के पिता जमदग्नि को मर डाला। उत्तर भारत में सहस्त्रार्जुन से सैनिकों के साथ परशुराम को २१ युद्ध लड़ने पड़े। प्रत्येक युद्ध में परशुराम विज्ञ्यी हुए। परशुराम ने उत्तर भारत को हैहय व आयुधजीवियों से मुक्त कराया ।

As soon as Ran Bahadur returned from Banaras he ordered to his lieutenants to win over west of Kali Hills (Today’s Kumaon and Garhwal, Himachal). The soldiers were pleased by his objective oriented orders as they would get materials by looting the victims or won territories.
Amar Singh Thapa was chief of campaign for capturing Garhwal, After winning Garhwal, Gorkha King sent order to Amar Singh Thapa for handing over Garhwal to his assistant Hastidal Chautariya and he should campaign for winning Himachal or Kangda Hills. He was asked to plan for winning Delhi. Thapa was advised to take those with him who support and kill those who resisted.
There were small Thakurai or kingdoms in between Yamuna and Sutlej Rivers. It was not hard to win those pity kingdoms or Thakkurais.
West of Sutlej, there was Kangda Kingdom. The Kangda King Sansar Chand captured small Thakurai or pity kingdoms into Kangda. Sansar Chand had stronger army as he had trained army with modern arms and ammunitions. Kangda King Sansarchand had strong Garh or forts too.
Amar Singh Thapa asked Maularam for the secrets of winning Kangda and other western territories of Yamuna River. Maularam offered a map of Kangda King. Maularam also cautioned that the rulers should have amicable relationship with the subjects for last longing Kingdom.
Amar Singh Thapa handed over the administration of Kumaon to his son Ranjor Thapa and grandson (from daughter) Veerbhadra Kunwar. Thapa handed over the administration of Garhwal to his daughter’s husband Chandraveer Kunwar and Governor Shurveer Khatri. Amar Singh left a small numbers of soldiers in Kumaon and Garhwal and too major numbers of army with him for capturing Himachal Hills.

सगर
मान्धाता और पुरुकुत्स के पश्चात अयोध्या वंश की शक्ति क्षीण होती गयी। सत्यवादी हरिश्चंद्र की छटी पीढ़ी में राजा बाहु हुआ। हैहय वंशियों म्लेच्छों ( यवन , शक , कम्बोज आदि ) को लेकर ने जब बाहु के राज्य अयोध्या पर आक्रमण किया तो अयोध्या नरेश बाहु ने पराजित होकर अपनी गर्भवती पत्नी के साथ भार्गव मुनि के आश्रम में शरण ली. वहां बाहु की मृत्यु हो गयी। कुछ समय बाद बाहु पुत्र सगर का जन्म हुआ जिसका लालन पोषण भार्गव आश्रम में हुआ।
हैहय वंशियों के साथ म्लेच्छ भी सनातन धर्मी हो गए थे।
सगर ने पहले अपना छीना राज्य का कुछ हिस्सा प्राप्त किया फिर अश्वमेध यज्ञ किया और अपने 60000 पुत्रों को घोड़ा लेकर संसार जीतने भेजा।
सगर पुत्र घोड़े को ढँढते ढूंढते कपिल मुनि के आश्रम (मायापुर या कनखल में ?) पंहुचे और उन्होंने कपिल मुनि से अभद्र व्यवहार किया। कपिल मुनि के श्राप से सभी सगर पुत्र भष्म हो गए।
सगर का राज्य उत्तर भारत से बंगाल की खाड़ी तक अनुमान लगाया जाता है।
भगीरथ याने उत्तराखंड का सफल पौराणिक अन्वेषक

सगर के प्रपौत्र दिलीप और भगीरथ ने सगर पुत्रों के उद्धार हेतु गंगा को पृथ्वी में लाने का प्रयत्न किया।
भगीरथ ने तपस्या की और गंगा को पृथ्वी तक लाये और फिर हरिद्वार , कनखल में गंगा को लाकर अपने पुरखों का उद्धार किया।
पुराण व महाभारत अनुसार भगीरथ शक्तिशाली , दानशील व परजामुखी सम्राट था। (महाभारत में रामयण कथा ).
ऐसा लगता है कि भगीरथ परम अन्वेषक था। उसने गंगा स्रोत्र का अन्वेषण किया था अथवा कोई बड़ी नहर खुदवाई होगी।

Infighting among Thakurais of West South Himachal Pradesh
By capturing Garhwal, Gorkha had rule up to east of Yamuna River. Beyond Yamuna east, in west Sirmaur Kingdom was there.
In 1793, Ktoch King or Kangda King Sansarchand attacked on Kahllod /Bilaspur and captured Gadhi (Forts ) of North Sutlej River from King Mahachand. Bilaspur King requested help from King Dharmaprakash of Sirmaur Thakurai or Kingdom. Mahachand agreed to pay one lakh rupees as gifts to Dharmaprakash. Dharmaprakash had small Thakurais under his Kingdom. They along with army of Dharamprakash and Mahachand reached to Chartadu of Kangda Kingdom. Kangda King Sanasarchand came with his army to stop the force of Mohanchand and company. Sansarchand killed Dharmapraksh in battle of Chartadu.
Dharmaprakash did not have any child. Therefore, his brother Karmpraksh ascended the throne of Sirmaur. However, many Sirmaur officers were unhappy by Karmpraksh getting the crown. Those dissatisfied officers conspired for Kunvar Ratna Singh getting Sirmaur Kingdom. Ratnasingh was also brother of Dharamprakash. The force of conspirators surrounded Karmprakash in Kangar Fort 32 miles away from Nahan. There was person who resembled with Karmaprakash. He was killed in the battle. The conspirators rumored that Karmaprakash is killed in the battle. There was chaos in whole of Sirmaur. Karmaprakash ran to Kalsi (Garhwal) with his fmailes. Ratna Singh was crowned as Ratnaprakash.
Karmaprakash requested help from Gorkha Commander Ranjor Thapa the son of Amar Singh Thapa. Gorkha army attacked on Sirmaur for helping Karmaprakash. Gorkha captured Sirmaur and Gorkha expelled Ratanprakash and he took asylum, in Morni Fort. Instead of handing Sirmaur Kingdom to Karma Prakash, Gorkha included Sirmaur under Gorkha regime. Gorkha established their government there. Karma Prakash was left in lurch. He stayed in Subathu of Ramgarh Thakurai for awhile and then fled to Buria where he lived till his death in 1826.

विश्वामित्र का गढ़वाल , बिजनौर , हरिद्वार , सहारनपुर इतिहास से संबंध

कान्यकुब्ज के गाधीनरेश का पुत्र विश्वामित्र भी परशुराम युग में प्रसिद्ध हुआ। वह जमदग्नि व परशुराम का संबंधी भी था।
वशिष्ठ व विश्वामित्र के परिवारों के मध्य शत्रुता युगों से चली आ रही थी।
विश्वामित्र ने कुछ काल तक कान्यकुब्ज पर शाशन किया। एक बार वह वशिष्ठ आश्रम गया और नंदिनी गाय के प्रभुत्व से प्रभावित हो उसने वशिष्ठ से नंदिनी मांगी किन्तु वसिष्ठ ने नंदनी गाय नही दी तो विश्वामित्र ने जबरदस्ती की और नंदिनी को भगा ले गया। नंदनी धेनु क्रोधित हुयी और उसने अपने प्रभाव से विश्वामित्र की सेना व धन को नुक्सान पंहुचाया।
विश्वामित्र तब हीन भावना का शिकार हो उसने राज त्यागा और ब्रह्मर्षि बनने हेतु तपस्या लींन हो गया।
विश्वामित्र की तपस्या से डर कर इंद्र ने मेनका अप्सरा को विश्वामित्र की तपस्या भंग करने हेतु भेजा। मेनका और विश्वामित्र से एक पुत्री (शकुंतला ) हुई जिसे मेनका ने मालनी नदी तट पर शकु पक्षियों के पास छोड़ दिया और स्वयं स्वर्ग चली गयी; विश्वामित्र भी कहीं और चले गए । इसी समय कण्व ऋषि उधर आये और शकुंतला को अपने आश्रम ले गए। कण्व आश्रम मालनी नदी तट पर था और शकुंतला का विवरण आगे दिया जाएगा। मालनी नदी का संबंध गढ़वाल , भाभर , बिजनौर भाभर और हरिद्वार भाभर से सीधा है।
विश्वामित्र को नंदनी की रक्षा हेतु एवं आदि सैनकों के आने की कथा से साफ़ है कि शकादि आयुधजीवी उत्तर भारत व मध्यभारत में आ बसे थे और वशिष्ठ जैसे ऋषियों ने उन्हें सनातन धर्मी बना डाला था।

Just after capturing Sirmaur deceptively, Gorkha captured Jubbal a petty Hill Kingdom in north of Sirmaur. The Khaneti Thakur Risal Singh took asylum in Bushehar/Bushahar Kingdom. Gorkha captured Thakurai of Risal Singh.
Gorkha captured Thakurai (petty Kingdoms) as Bilsan, Keyunthal, Tharoch, Ghoond, Kotkhai, Thiyog and Kotgarh without any resistance. That was the terror of Gorkha in Doti, Kumaon and Garhwal that none of above Kings resisted against Gorkha. Those Kingdoms were also engaged in petty quarrel among themselves and their power was meanly divided. After winning the above territories, Gorkha army reached towards Bushehar. Bushehar/Bushahr King and his subjects did not lose their hearts and resisted against Gorkha. By any means, Gorkha army reached Hatu Hills. The minor prince Ugar Singh of Bushehar/Bushahr/Bussahir Kingdom ran and took asylum in Kamrun Kingdom.
Gorkha inavadors captured Hattu, Kuran, Baghi, Navgarh, Sungari and Bahli Gadh or Forts and kept soldiers in those forts.
Once, Gorkha could reach Rampur, Himachal Pradesh. Gorkha soldiers looted the treasurer and burnt the records of Bushahr etc. This was the biggest loss for History. Gorkha could not have control over Kinnaur or Kannaur region with ease and stability. Once, Gorkha commander sent its army to capture and loot Kamru Treasury. Gorkha army camped near Chuganv (Tholang) at bank of Chholtu River. In Night Kinnaurs burnt Chholtu River Bridge and attacked on Gorkha army as Guerilla attack. Gorkha were surprised and were in very disadvantage position. Gorkha had to flee from there as they faced food and other material problems there.

सम्राट दिलीप
इक्ष्वाकु वंश में सम्राट दिलीप एक प्रसिद्ध राजा हुए। महाभारतानुसार दिलीप भगीरथ का पिता और सगर का प्रपौत्र था। अन्य पौराणिक गाथाओं अनुसार दिलीप भगीरथ की कुछ पीढ़ियों बाद का राजा था जिसका नाम खट्वांग भी था। संतान की कमना हेतु चक्रवर्ती सम्राट नदिलीप ने मुनि वशसित आश्रम में धेनु नंदनी की पूजा की थी।
वशिष्ठ का आश्रम गढ़वाल में गंगा तट पर था व वहां देवदारु वृक्ष थे। यहां गंगा तट पर देवदारु वृक्ष के नीचे मायावी सिंह मिला था।
चक्रवर्ती सम्राट रघु
रघु महान प्रतापी राजा हुआ और इक्ष्वाकु वंश का नाम रघुवंश पद गया। कालिदास अनुसार रघु ने भगीरथी के झरने वाले प्रदेश गढ़वाल नरेश से युद्ध किया था। और फिर मैत्री कर ली थी।
सम्राट दशरथ
रघु का पुत्र अज हुआ और दशरथ अजपुत्र था।
दशरथ ने पड़ोसी राज्यों से मित्रता भाव हेतु कौशल व कैकेय की राजकुमारियों से विवाह किया व अपने पुत्रों का भी विवाह अन्य नजदीकी रजकुमारियों से किया। दशरथ के चार पुत्र हुए - राम , लक्ष्मण , भरत व शत्रुघ्न।
राम
राजा राम चन्द्र रघुवीर नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुए और उन्हें विष्णु का अवतार माना जाता है। चौदह वर्ष के वनवास काल में राम ने बाली व रावण आदि को जीता।
रघु या दिलीप के समय से ही उत्तराखंड माय बिजनौर व सहारनपुर इक्ष्वाकु वंश के प्रभाव में था।
जहां तक रामायण काल का उत्तराखंड से संबध है ऐसा कहा जाता है कि पूर्वी हरिद्वार के पास स्वर्गाश्रम के नजदीक लक्ष्मण ने तपस्या की थी। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि लक्ष्मण ने बबूल घास की रस्सियों से बने झूला पुल से गंगा पार किया था।
लोककथा है कि सीता को जब वनवास दिया गया तो वह सितौनस्यूं पट्टी , पौड़ी गढ़वाल में रही थी और यहीं पृथ्वी में समायी थी।
लोककथाओं अनुसार सीता ने पेड़ों को भी श्राप दिया था अतः कहा जाता था कि सितौनस्यूं में पेड़ कम होते थे किन्तु सीता ने रहवासियों को वरदान दिया था कि इस प्रदेश में घास भी लकड़ी जैसे भोजन पकाने के लिए काफी होगा।
लोककथा अनुसार कोटसड़ा गाँव , सितौनस्यूं पौड़ी गढ़वाल में मान्यता है किसी विशेष दिन जमीन खोदा जाता है और वहां सीता की लोड़ी (पत्थर ) निकलती हैं और उत्स्व मनाया जाता है (चित्रकार ब्रिज मोहन नेगी द्वारा दी गयी सूचना ).

राम के इहलोक जाने के बाद राज्य आठ भागों में बांटा गया था और लक्ष्मण पुत्र अंगद को उत्तराखंड मिला था (केदारखंड १२१/२४-२६ , डा डबराल )

Nalagarh was the capital of Hindur.
Winning after Sirmaur, Gorkha started invading towards West. Gorkha captured Solan, Dagsai,Sabathu and other small kingdoms. Gorkha attacked on Nalgarh.King Ramsharan was the King of Hindur and Nalagarh was capital of Hindur. Raja Ajay Chand (1100-1170) is called the founding King of Hindur, Nalagarh. Raja Ramsharn Singh (1788-1848) expanded his Kingdom to Palsi and Matiyana. It is said that he also won the Ajemrgarh fort. Dharma Negi of Sabathughrh accepted the supremacy of Ramsharan. Gorkha captured villages of Nalagarh. When Gorkha army reached to Ramshar, Gorkha army had to face adversaries. When Gorkha army was unable to capture Ramshar Fort, Gorkha surrounded Ramshahar Fort and blocked the supply into Ramshahar Fort. There was ample water supply due to storage of rain water hoarding system in the Fort. The food stores were already kept in the fort. Gorkha waited for three years kept surrounding the Fort. It was not possible for Ram Sharan to be in Ramshahar Fort for more days. Ramsharan fled from the Fort and reached Bishauli of Hoshiyarpur. After thrre months, he reached to Palsi around 1804. From 1804-1814, Raja ram Sharan had to rule over small territories on Palsi, Baddi, Gullarwala Gadhis, Gorkha captured his other territories. Many other small Kingdom Kings also took shelter in Palsi region.

The History of Keothal/Kyonthal is as other hill states of Himachal. The Kingdom was busy always in war with Bushahar or Sirmaur.
The Sen dynasty was started by a Bengal warrior Giri Sen.
It is said that there were 18 following tributary Thakurais (Jameendari or regions or petty Kingdoms) under Keonthal/ Kyonthal Kingdom-

Dr Dabral doubts about the above saying as at Gorkha invasion Kumhar , Sain Thakurai were under Bushehr/Bushahar. Gorkha attacked on Keonthal/ Kyonthal (1803). As soon as Gorkha army reached to Kyonthal, the Rana or King Raghunath Sen fled away from Keonthal/ Kyonthal and reached in Suket Kingdom. Rana Raghunath Sen died in Suket in 1831. His son Sansar Sen was born there. In later period, British returned Thakurai of Keonthal/ Kyonthal to Prince Sansarsen. According to

पुरुवंशी , चंद्रवंशी राजा दुष्यंत सुरवंशी राजा सगर से पचास साठ वसर्ष बाद हुआ। उसकी राजधानी हस्तिनापुर थी और राज्य गांधार तक फैला था।
दुष्यंत के ईमानदार , पुरुषार्थी , बलवान राजा था। आदिपर्व महाभारत में कहा गया है कि वह मंदराचल पर्वत को उठा लेता था।
दुष्यंत के शाशन में प्रजा सुखी थी। कृषि और पशुपालन व खनिज उद्यम से प्रजा का पालन सही तरह से होता था।
राज्य में धर्म अनुसार प्रशासन चलता था।
