Satirizing flattering, sycophancy or over praising in Garhwali Satire Literature
(Critical review of Garhwali Satire- 24)
(Critical review of Garhwali Satirical essays created by Bhishma Kukreti -17)

                                    Bhishma Kukreti

[Notes on Satirizing flattering, Sycophancy or over praising in Satire Literature; Satirizing flattering, Sycophancy or over praising in Garhwali Satire Literature; Satirizing flattering, Sycophancy or over praising in Uttarakhandi Satire Literature; Satirizing flattering, Sycophancy or over praising in Mid Himalayan Satire Literature; Satirizing flattering , Sycophancy or over praising in Himalayan Satire Literature; Satirizing flattering or over praising in North Indian Satire Literature; Satirizing flattering , Sycophancy or over praising in Indian Satire Literature; Satirizing flattering , Sycophancy  or over praising in SAARC Countries Satire Literature; Satirizing flattering , Sycophancy or over praising in Asian Satire Literature]

Flattering means that complimenting excessively and often insincerely, especially to get favor from over praised one. Flattering is a weapon for winning the support of other. There are other names for flattering as apple polishing, wheel greasing. Social psychologists Edward e. Jones coined word’ Ingratiation’ and he discussed other enhancement, opinion conformity etc about the aspect of flattering.  Voltaire condemned flattering. Swift satirized flattering (B.A. Connery and K. Combe). Jeffery Jones and Ethan Thompson (Satire T.V.: Politics and Comedy in the Post-Network era) provided examples of satirizing flattering in various T.V. satire serials or satirical programs.
There have been satirical essays and other literature in Garhwali those sharply satirize flattering and over praising.
Ek Shradhanjali in Bhi (Garh Aina 5/6/1989) - Kukreti satirizes the concept of flattering and over praising through his satire prose’ Ek Shradhanjali in Bhi’. One of deity a minister Vasant shri in Indra (the king of deity) expired and there is condolence meeting for his death. Every deity just touches the contribution of Vasant shri but talks more about his relationship with deity King Indra or Devendra. Lord Krishna, Vishnu, Narsingh and other deities over praise Devendra (Indra) with flattering remarks. It is one of the remarkable satires on flattering and over praising in Garhwali literature.

Satire is an antique concept in human society. Satirical literature is very much important for literature as a whole. A satire supporter states that the satire in oral form or satirical literature nails the issue in the head subversively. Satirist highlights the important issues humorously through oral satire or satirical literature and explodes deeper. Another supporter of satire and satire literature states that the satire is very fine and delicate instrument.  A supporting view on oral satire and satirical literature is that satire may ease the tension. A blogger names to the oral satire and satire literature as lovely firearm.
Chitthi (Garh Aina, 27/2/1990) by   Bhishma Kukreti is the proof that satire is an important aspect of every language literature. Food requires salt and chilies for taste and literature requires satirical literature for completing all the aspects of literature of any language.
Chitthi ridicules the letters written by common men and no reply from administration or politicians. Kukreti provides many hilarious examples for importance of   letters in Garhwal and cities by students or other migrated Garhwalis.  One humorous example of Chitthi is that Chanda kaka was writing letter on behalf of Sarala Bhabhi and on the courtyard; women were singing the songs of a woman teasing her husband very badly. Chanda kaka wrote the songs and its theme in the letter. There is disaster when the letter reaches to husband of Sarala Bhabhi.
