Bahuguna was a versatile Garhwali story creator. Many times, he chooses common subject with new changes in life style. In Narangi story, Bahuguna shows that a rich person is settled in foreign country. However when he was bankrupt and came to his own country, he started to do labor job on the road. However, he never lost his self esteem and pride while carrying out labor job. Bahuguna successfully shows that laborious job and high profile jobs are not the factors for keeping up self esteem.

Dusra ki Narangi; Story Exploring Non Business Mentality of Garhwalis and Kumaunis
(Review of Garhwali Story Collection ‘Katha Kumud’ written by Abodh Bandhu Bahuguna)
Let Us Celebrate Hundredth Year of Modern Garhwali Fiction!

                                                    Bhishma Kukreti
[Notes on Stories about Non Business Mentality; Garhwali Stories about Non Business Mentality; Kumauni Stories about Non Business Mentality; Uttarakhandi Stories about Non Business Mentality; Mid Himalayan Stories about Non Business Mentality; Himalayan Stories about Non Business Mentality; North Indian Stories about Non Business Mentality; Indian Stories about Non Business Mentality; South Asian Stories about Non Business Mentality; Asian Stories about Non Business Mentality]
Garhwalis and Kumaunis seldom choose business as earning medium. That is the reason that in Garhwal and Kumaun, there is no caste, ‘Baniya’ or business /commercial community. There are proverbs for hard work the ladder for success but there is no proverb in both the languages about business as the base for being rich. Garhwalis and Kumaunis are not anti Business but they certainly don’t like to involve them in business activities. That is another reason that the old Garhwali and Kumauni business houses are at the corner or irrelevant in Uttarakhand. There are outsiders doing business in remote villages of hills of Uttarakhand.  Due to non business mentality, Garhwalis and Kumaunis prefer service as source of earning and not business.
Abodh Bandhu Bahuguna explores about non Business mentality among Garhwalis and Kumaunis in story ‘Dusra ki Narangi’.
Sateshwar Chahca is poor and the poverty forces him to sell oranges. He goes to market with oranges to sell them that he gets some financial relief. However, the hitch, hesitation for selling the produces (by Kumaunis and Garhwalis) compels Sateshwar chacha to donate oranges to the school children. Sateshwar chacha thinks that selling some thing is sin. Kumaunis -Garhwalis do not have anti-business mentality but at the same time do not have commercial habits.
Bahuguna effectively explores the reasons behind non business mentality of Garhwalis and Kumaunis in this marvelous story.

(Critical review of Garhwali Story Collection ‘Katha Kumud’ by Abodh Bandhu Bahuguna)
Let Us Celebrate Hundredth Year of Modern Garhwali Fiction!

[Notes on Characteristics of Stories by story writer; Characteristics of Stories by Garhwali story writer; Characteristics of Stories by Uttarakhandi story writer; Characteristics of Stories by Mid Himalayan story writer; Characteristics of Stories by Himalayan story writer; Characteristics of Stories by North Indian story writer; Characteristics of Stories by Indian story writer; Characteristics of Stories by SAARC Countries story writer; Characteristics of Stories by South Asian story writer; Characteristics of Stories by Asian story writer]
Abodh Bandhu Bahuguna had been leader in various forms of Garhwali literature. He is also in his best in writing Garhwali stories. Bahuguna wrote more than 40 Garhwali stories.
There is variation in characters of stories by A.B. Bahuguna.
Bahuguna never accepted affixed ism in his literature. The common characteristic of Bahuguna’s stories is that they all are from the real world of Garhwal and they are not imagery or symbols but living characters.  The characters are of varied nature as found in Garhwali society.  Abodh Bandhu effectively characterizes the geographical structure of Garhwal.  The stories are sign of sensitive nature and broad experiences of Bahuguna.
Bahuguna is always aware about language, words and its uses. His uses of words are medium of bringing freshness, flow, conflicts, solutions and Garhwalism in the stories.
Bahuguna believes in Sanskritized Garhwali language.  By words and style, Bahuguna provides direction and intention of story writer to the readers. By taking symbolic words and names, Bahguna creates atmosphere for his stories. For example, there is no connection of Swami Ram Teerth in Apni Jyan story but the name Ram Teerth suggests to readers about philosophy in the story.
The language and style have energy to accelerate the flow of story.  Bahuguna uses various styles in his stories. Bahuguna uses proverbs for strengthening the stories and characterization.
There is shadow of his personalities in the fiction of Abodh Bandhu Bahuguna.  Bahuguna’s stories are always in search, researching culture, social structure of Garhwalis and future of Garhwali life and society. Intellectualism is main character of Bahuguna in his stories.
Garhwalis will always remember Abodh Bandhu Bahuguna for his contribution in developing Garhwali fiction literature.
