On 16th February 1815, Hearsay got information that Gurkha were planning for vacating two Garhis of Timlaghati. The Garhi of Timalghati was at height of 3840 feet and was a strategic Garhi of the region. “There are a few supporters of Gurkha/Nepal in Kumauni regions. As soon as my Hill men would reach there they would be supporting British. I already have offered them Rs 650 as reward in advance. I also handed over them one Mond gun powder and 2000 bullets. Those Hill men promised for bring 600 Loaders. They have taken token money in advance. I left 50 soldiers for defending Bilhari Fort Garhi. As soon as I get loaders and animal carriers I shall start campaign for Bacchuti, near Timlaghati.
