उत्तराखंड का पांचवा क्रिकेटर उन्मुक्त चंद ठाकुर

देहरादून। आईपीएल के पिछले सीजन में जब युवा मनीष पांडे ने सीजन का पहला सैकड़ा जमाया तो सभी उसकी यह कहकर चर्चा कर रहे थे कि यह खिलाड़ी मूल रूप से उत्तराखंड के बागेश्वर का रहने वाला है। इसी प्रकार इस बार आईपीएल में उत्तराखंड का एक और सितारा अपनी चमक बिखेरने को तैयार है और वह है उन्मुक्त चंद ठाकुर। इस बार दिल्ली डेयरडेविल्स की ओर से इस क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी को मौका मिला है। मूल रूप पिथौरागढ़ जिले के रहने वाले और दिल्ली में रह रहे उन्मुक्त चंद को आईपीएल में दिल्ली डेयरडेविल्स की ओर से खेलने के लिए चुना गया है। पिथौरागढ़ जिले के खड़कूभल्या गांव के उन्मुक्त चंद के पिता भरत चंद ठाकुर एक शिक्षक हैं।

बाराखंबा रोड स्थित मार्डन स्कूल में 12 वीं का छात्र 17 वर्षीय उन्मुक्त इससे पहले दिल्ली की टीम के लिए अंडर 15, 16 और 19 के मैच खेलने के साथ ही रणजी एकदिवसीय भी खेल चुका है। पिछले सीजन में उन्मुक्त में अंडर 19 खिलाड़ियों में सर्वाधिक 435 रन बनाये, जिसमें 2 शतक और एक हाफ सैंचुरी शामिल है। रणजी में उसने रेलवे के खिलाफ 151 रन बनाए। इन तमाम कामयाबियों के कारण उन्मुक्त का चयन बीसीसीआई की अंडर 19 टीम के लिए भी हुआ है जहां वह नार्थ जोन की ओर से खेलेगा। प्री बोर्ड की परीक्षाओं के बावजूद उन्मुक्त इन दिनों आईपीएल की तैयारियों लगा हुआ है।

यहां मनीष पांडे और भारतीय टीम के कप्तान महेन्द्र सिंह धौनी की बात करना भी जरूरी होगा। अल्मोड़ा में धौनी का पैतृक गांव है। इसी प्रकार दिल्ली रणजी के लिए खेलने वाले गढ़वाल एक्सप्रेस के नाम से मशहूर पवन सुयाल और राबिन विष्ट भी उत्तराखंड के ही हैं। उन्मुक्त चंद ने मेरा पहाड़ फोरम के लाइव चैट में शुक्रवार को उत्तराखंड और देश भर के 100 से अधिक लोगों के सवालों के जबाव दिए। उसका कहना था कि वह अपने प्रदर्शन को जारी रखना चाहता है। धौनी के विषय में किये गये एक सवाल के जबाव में उसने कहा कि अभी उसकी उनसे मुलाकात नहीं हुई है लेकिन वह उनसे मिलने का इच्छुक है। इस चैट में फ्रांस के एक उत्तराखंडी कर्नल नेगी ने भी भाग लिया। फोरम के संचालक हेम पंत ने बताया कि उन्मुक्त चंद भविष्य में भी लाइव चैट के लिए आएंगे।

इस प्रकार उत्तराखंड की पांच क्रिकेट प्रतिभाएं महेन्द्र सिंह धौनी, मनीष पांडे, उन्मुक्त चंद, पवन सुयाल और राबिन विष्ट इन दिनों राष्ट्रीय फलक पर अपनी चमक बिखेर रहे हैं। लेकिन दुर्भाग्य यह है कि उत्तराखंड क्रिकेट को अभी तक बीसीसीआई की मान्यता नहीं मिल पाई है। इसका कारण यहां की क्रिकेट एसोसिएशनों का आपसी झगड़ा है।

Having joined the Delhi Daredevils ranks in mid-February, it remains to be seen if local youngsters Unmukt Chand and Vikas Mishra will be able to make the final squad of 15 for IPL 4 that gets underway on April 8.



But they certainly tried their best to impress the team management on Tuesday, coming up with sparkling performances with the bat and the ball, respectively, as the Daredevils played a practice match among themselves at the Roshanara ground.



The 18-year-old Unmukt, who had scored an unbeaten 60 in the first warm-up game at the Kotla, showed scant regard to an experienced attack that included the likes of Ajit Agarkar, James Hopes and Ashok Dinda.



The Bengal pacer started aggressively sending down a vicious bouncer that forced Unmukt to take an evasive action. But the right-handed batsman got into his groove two balls later as he pulled Dinda over mid wicket for a massive six, the first of the three huge hits in 49-run knock that also included six fours.

A deserved half-century was there for the taking but Unmukt ran himself out, looking to steal a single that wasn't there.



"It is all about confidence," Unmukt told Sportline. "Since my natural style is to play shots, I don't find it tough to switch formats. But yes playing all these international bowlers like Morne Morkel, Ashok Dinda and Ajit Agarkar has helped me realise that how T20 should be played. And after scoring an unbeaten 60 in the first practice match at Kotla, Dinda got me out on the first ball in the second. So today I had planned to take him on right from the start
